Smiles. Especially if Shump gets his huge hands on you.
Mar 6, 2021 10:27 pm
Was holding up on Shump attacks as I wasn't sure it was time to throw some dice or not.

Okay Shump's current options are (and he is a kind-of a round behind now):

1) Put away his handaxe and try to hit the 2 snakes on the ceiling with Disadvantage
-----
2) Turn and face what is going on behind him
2a) If he makes a Dex Save DC 15 then he can step towards and take a single swing at the large blob
-----
Then decide what he is going to do for this current round based a bit on what he just finished doing in the previous round

Shump took his handaxe as he is normally a two weapon fighter. But normally he can't take both weapons out on the same round so it takes him two rounds to take both out. Can't interact with two weapons in the same round is the reason. Shump gets a +1 to AC if he is duel wielding weapons. And he can add his STR to the damage on the Off hand weapon as well.

Normally anytime Shump takes an attack action he can take and additional attack. It is not a bonus action. It is cause he is a level 5 ranger.

So may I attack with both weapons and have my additional attacks as well on the blob?

Rolls

DEX save DC(15) - (1d20+4)

(12) + 4 = 16

Okay yes I understand all that BUT due to aborting an action, you are limited in what you can do, and with the way things went that simply means -- You abort your current action, you turn and ascertain what is going on, you take that 5 foot step so you can engage, you take your Single swing and then almost immediately launch into a full attack because you get to go before the Blob does -- along with everyone else -- and I do not worry about who goes first when it comes to party initiative -- whoever posts first went first.

So in short do a full attack and add one extra attack in with your main weapon

In our discussions, you told me you weren't changing combat. It appears that isn't true. I'm exiting this game. I just can't stand the constant changes.

Okay your call -- but frankly most folks prefer the option of being able to abort an action rather than the normal guidelines which do not allow you that option.

Do not worry I will Ghost Shump -- its a shame I am assuming he wanted to meta-game

Looking to drum up another player hopefully get something solid

Aww, Shump, I liked our green guide. Bye Gene, even if you won't see this post!

But I have to say, I sort of agree with Gene. Not about specific changes, but rather about the fact that there are so many? I don't mind homebrew, but it's been getting harder and harder for me to remember all the little things, when I don't even know the basic 5e very well. I've started re-checking rules for every single action before I declare it, and it's... draining.

Then again, I'm mostly interested in roleplaying, not combat. Maybe thats why I'm struggling with all the nuances. XD And I am still enjoying the game, I'm just... getting slightly tired of the detailed mechanics, if it makes sense. It's probably way easier to do in person, but over forum it's just too slow to discuss these things.

Sorry to hear that yeah I post all the changes so that they are as easy to reference as possible and most are fairly minor adjustments to this, that, or the other thing and a large portion of the changes do not directly effect a single character. Further some of the House Guidelines are just clarification or reminders on the base Guidelines. Also I try to make the changes such that they do not affect dynamic game play but mostly character information which becomes static to the character once applied thus reducing the amount of things a player has to remember.

As it goes I have made a mistake or two from time to time, even with the base guidelines which I check periodically to make sure that I am not forgetting something as there is quite a bit to the whole base guidelines that a GM has to pay attention too.

I am on Discord if you want to contact me for a text chat or a voice chat -- DeJoker#1460 just reach out to me if you like

That's fine, that's just my perfectionism being in conflict with my desire to not focus on the rules too much. :D It'll probably get less daunting over time anyway. And I appreciate your efforts to make it a better experience for us!

I don't really handle chats very well, but thanks for the offer! Maybe I'll take you up on it if thing get too confusing. XD

If we chat you will find that I tend not to be the judgmental type I take individuals as individuals as we all have our strength and weakness and I do my best to remember that when talking with others. If it helps I also teach/tutor programming to inexperienced and experienced programmers alike and I have a lot of foreign friends whose English is not great and we do fine

That's nice to hear, and I'll keep it in mind! Though my dislike of chats is just anxiety speaking, not much to do with individuals. Forums are just easier... if less effective. :P

Anyway, are we waiting on someone? I think everyone did their actions, right? Time for some jelly slicing? :D

Waiting on me had a headache for the last two days making more complicated posts not easy to render -- and had to go out and run errands this morning-afternoon .... I am hoping to move things forward today if all goes well.
Mar 12, 2021 9:59 pm
Aww, headaches are annoying, I hope you'll feel better soon! :)

How are you handling crits again? Is it max damage dice plus the roll, or just rolling damage dice twice?
Mar 13, 2021 5:57 am
Crits are as follows :

Max Damage for the Weapon and Sneak Attack -- then add Modifiers
Roll 1d20 if another Crit then
Max Damage for the Weapon and Sneak Attack additional
--- if not
Roll Damage for the Weapon and Sneak Attack additional

The 1d20 can continue to be rolled with each Critical doing the same thing until a Critical is not rolled. Aka Exploding Criticals
