OOC:
Nahhhhh...I want the armor lol.
"But of course, have a lovely day." Nera snatches the paper, pocketing it. With her business concluded she decides to head back. If this brother is a problem there will be plenty of thugs to help us locate him.
OOC:
Well, the only thing the gambling dens would confirm is whether this guy still had a gambling addiction or not. That's potentially useful information, so I suppose if Nera's willing to sacrifice a night's sleep, she could still go get the armor and still hit up the speakeasies. Maybe equates to a setback on Perception and Vigilance checks the next day?

Alternatively, she could send a colleague to purchase the armor on her behalf, but it won't get its special effects until she is able to see an armorer to get it fitted properly.

OOC:
Sounds good. That's the gambling village where the niece was from right? I guess she is still not talking with us
Nekurr back to base :)
OOC:
Yeah, Lady Olarie Dribbage was living in Tamalir before she moved into her uncle's place. She hasn't reached out to Argus since her inquiry was resolved about a month ago. At any rate, the St. Durvin clerics are probably a more solid connection there than anyone she knows, since she's still a bit cross with you all.

OOC:
In my opinion this is one of those cases where we can find info when we get there, assuming he isn't dead or something. If anyone feels strongly I can follow but I'm not too keen on it.

OOC:
Your call. It would be, say, a Daunting (PPPP) check with a setback since you don't have a physical description other than human male. I'll advance things tomorrow either way.
Jan 23, 2020 5:28 pm
You all make your way back to Argus headquarters by early evening. The picture you have of Buzzards' Ford, this missing tax collector, and Rathin Viontoloness's motivations is still hazy perhaps, but it's at least not completely opaque. You use the opportunity to inform your colleagues of what you've each uncovered.
OOC:
Maybe good idea to pause for a moment so that each character can reveal what he or she discovered in their own words. Then we can get on the road.
Jan 23, 2020 8:51 pm
"I have obtained-" Nera proudly holds the writ up high. "The writ! At least I hope so. If not there will be hell to pay."
Jan 23, 2020 11:31 pm
"I had a chat with a merchant who tried trade about fifteen years back, but all they had to offer were pumpkins, razorwing meat, and unfriendly scowls. He had an easier time with the Lizard tribes... he did mention some interesting merchandise..."
OOC:
Tronus let's peoe know about the sexy Z merch.
Jan 23, 2020 11:54 pm
Bruv grunts, "Ngh, 'bout oll Oi found was 'at eating 'allucinogenics, and "ad hoc" religious rituals used ta be popular in 'ose parts... Sounds like a good toime we're 'eadin' to, 'ey!?", and then he snorts.
Jan 24, 2020 8:21 am
Nekurr sits down for a moment, listening to everybody's findings "Well it seems that there is not much to know about this village" he then looks at Nera and shows his papers "And I have obtained a letter of introduction!" he smiles "Turns out St. Durvis doesn't have much influence in the southern reaches of the barony, but they have a cathedral in Tamalir where we can look for more information" he stops for a moment and then quickly adds "Oh! And by the way, I found out our friend Dribbage is still doing well, alive and goating in a cage"

Hildar has perhaps the juiciest info, so we'll pause for McNeils5 to catch up. If they're too busy, I'll narrate you to the road by Monday morning.

Hildar smiles slightly "I may have had a bit more luck with the ledger" he says as he slides the map he found onto the table. "Asides from this I managed to find an odd pattern with the records. Their tax contributions were fairly typical for a settlement of its size and then they mysteriously increased. Increased by a significant margin for some time before they abruptly stopped when our employer said they did". He pauses for a moment to allow the information to sink in before continuing "Given the significant amounts they were paying in tax I find it very odd that they could have just stopped paying and it not be noticed for so many years."

"An increase in taxes? Why would a small village in the swamps generate such a high tax revenue?" Nekurr asks surprised at the revelation.

"Indeed, the reason was not included within the ledger. The more we look into this the more questions it seems to turn up"

Let's take the weekend to tie up any loose ends. Somebox might have wanted to buy some armor (OK to do it offscreen), folks might want to hash out theories about the village or missing person, etc. Sunday evening or Monday morning, we'll have you make a group Knowledge (Geography) check to plot your path down to the village.

Nera ponders. "Maybe the area is under the rule of a wealthy baron, or perhaps have declared themselves independent? No, such a stunt would be well recorded."
OOC:
150 silver for the armor yes?

OOC:
Yep. I've modified it so that it doesn't give the bonus to Stealth anymore, but since you seemed interested before I did so, we can keep the old benefits, as I think you'll prefer them. (New idea is that it reduces the Unwieldy quality of items you wield, making it pair well with a Zanagan weapon, which adds Linked but also adds Unwieldy). Say it's a one-off the Gnome has in stock.

Elven Zanagan Leather Armor. Reduce Encumbrance by 2. Remove K from Stealth checks. Remove KK from checks due to hot or wet conditions.

Nekurr considers Nera's suggestions "Probably something stranger than that... a wealthy baron doesn't disappear like that and someone should have heard of these separatists?" He throws a coin and stars at it for a moment. "I'll bet nothing really happened and this must be a record mistake."

Will leave Nekurr to interpret what that coin flip indicates! :)
[ +- ] maps
You all get a good night's rest in preparation for the trip south to Buzzards' Ford. With the maps found in the ledger, the way seems fairly clear: Take the Tamalir road southeast for about three days' ride, then make your way westward along the Flametail River for a day or less, depending on the conditions. That said, there are often side-roads and cut-throughs that don't often make it onto maps such as these, so it may be worth a look to find a quicker path.
OOC:
Basically, you have enough information to get to the river, but once you're there, you'll need to find a way westward to where the village is supposed to be. For that reason, I'd like a Knowledge (Geography) roll for the group. Nobody has any ranks, so that means Hildar provides the basis with GGGG. The maps provide BB, and unskilled assistance from the others gives BB more. Final roll is GGGGBBBB x PPR, as I'm upgrading things. McNeils5, could you roll it?

OOC:
Only thing I'd add is possibly looking to the lizrdfolk tribe for more intel since they're nicer than people from Buzzard's Ford...
Jan 27, 2020 2:58 pm
OOC:
Sure, rolling....not too sure for the Advantages so am open to suggestions....
