The ooze seems to ponder the name for a moment. Ooblek. Ooooooo...blek. OoOOOOooblek! Astonishing! I like it! The jelly-cube does a happy little dance that sets the bones inside drifting weirdly.
Treasure... Well, I suppose I have some here... Ooblek squeezes out everything it has and dumps it on the temple floor. The bones, coins, and hammer all clang as they hit the ground. You're welcome to it all! I've never had friends before. Can we be friends? I've been down here... An odd sucking sound emanates from beneath the cube, almost as though Ooblek is tapping a 'foot' on the floor in thought. Well, as long as I can remember! Which is odd, considering... Hmm. What was I saying?

"Fascinating! Definitely Astonishing! A gelatinous cube with telepathic abilities!" Zanzur strokes his whiskers. "Zanzur Klibelmick! Pleased to make your acquaintance! What is it that you find odd? Zanzur tries not to show it, but the gnome finds the discovery of an ooze with psychic abilities quite disconcerting. This one seems harmless for the moment, but that skeleton is evidence the situation could very well go badly if things were to turn sour.

"What is the last thing you remember, Friend Ooblek? Might it be the person that once animated these bones in life?Zigurd asks helpfully as he crouches down to investigate the dropped loot.
He is especially interested in the hammer although, truth be told it, would have to be a mighty weapon indeed for him to hang up his tribe's ancestral sword Red Tooth...

Corunir is lost in his own thoughts. 'The Brave Companions?' What a banal name for such an illustrious group! Perhaps I answered too hastily. The Unrivaled Unit? Shem's Stalwart Seven?...

Being more on the silent side, Unice stays at the side of the group, listening to them talk to a being she wouldn't have basic intelligence to mere moments ago.

Zzzzanzzzzur... Zanzur! A wonderful name, indeed! I don't find it odd at all!
Ooblek continues babbling happily while Zigurd looks through the pile. The barbarian finds a dozen gold pieces, and discovers that the hammer has some faded runes on it. It likely has some magical properties.
The last thing I remember... why, that's an easy question. I remember... Hmm. That's odd... It trails off again for a moment. Not sure about those bones though. It used to be a drow elf, I think. It was a while ago.

"Ah ha. 12 gold for 'The Fund'...and this hammer might be of mythical quality. I will take it with us so that we may understand it's workings later on. Identifying magics in new things is something our Zanzur handles, Ooblek" Zigurd says as he puts away the loot while talking to his companions, new and old.
"Will you be accompanying The Brave Companions as we head further into the caverns, Ooblek?" Zigurd asks the jelly as much as he is asking his fellow adventurers.

"Perhaps if he joins us, he could speak to others of his kind who dwell here and convince them that we're on their side." Duren's frown begins to turns somewhat upward.

"It is an idea to be sure. There is always more room for help" Andras spoke through varied and somewhat heavy panting after falling a bit behind from the others.

Ooblek's jiggling is less apparent now that its treasure has been disgorged. The others? Oh, they don't make good conversation. Not like you people. But I could come with you! I keep things REALLY clean.

Corunir peers at the cube as it "speaks." Since it seems no intention of attacking the adventurers then he sees no harm in letting it tag along.
"Onward then, old friends and new!" the paladin leads deeper into the temple.

Ooblek happily scoots along with the party, leaving the floor clear and clean wherever it passes. From the filthy stare of this hallway, the companions might guess that if Ooblek passed here before, it must have been long ago. The cube continues its carefree whistling.
The next chamber is far different from the rest of the temple they group has seen up until this point, though the floor is just as wet. The walls here have somewhat clearer designs, carved with worn and faded bas-reliefs. These show strange, swirling shapes that might be waves, tentacles, or some combination thereof.

Along the right wall branch four hallways floored with heavy flagstones, each one extending into darkness. A large portion of the left wall is broken away, revealing another path of natural stone. The sound of falling water that the party has heard seems to come strongest from this open passage.

"Do you think that anything could follow us from behind? If you do I could make sure to set up something to keep them occupied."
Andras asks the group.

"That would be wise," agrees Corunir, as he peeks down each hallway in turn, including the natural tunnel.

Andras takes the time to head over to where they had come from, and worked magic to set up a sort of vine in the ground.
OOC:
I am going to use a spell slot to set up my vine trap from where we came from. Unless something thinks it would better fit elsewhere.Feb 15, 2020 3:57 pm
OOC:
Andras is able to set one trap for 'free' (without expending a spell slot) once per short or long rest, so long as he takes 1 minute to do so instead of an action. So he doesn't need to expend a spell slot at the moment unless he feels urgently pressed for time. From what Zigurd can tell, most of the flooding has come from tunnel beyond the broken wall. The water level on the floor seems to have risen about a half a foot in the last half hour.
Corunir notes that the floor tiles in the four hallways appear weakened in places. It is difficult to say how much weight the floor may be able to bear in any of those four paths.
Ooblek stays mostly still, though the floor beneath the ooze's mass squelches on occasion as it shifts its weight. The party gets a sense of immense curiosity as it watches them work.

"We need to keep moving and hopefully into higher ground. This water level is no good for any of us." Zigurd explains while looking between the other companions for the way forward.

"Water flows from higher ground. Let us find the source," Corunir says, heading through the broken wall, into the natural tunnel.
