My character's backstory if you're interested is here:
[ +- ] Backstory
Teraclis's early childhood was pretty sheltered, living as he did among an isolated elvish community, he only knew peace and joy. All of that changed when a traveller from the mannish settlement nearby chanced upon the community. He told the elves of a great host of beast men approaching the region, and the elves decided to rejoin the wider world and moved south to Bron Midnas.
There, for the first time, he was exposed to death. The elves, deathless themselves, were vegetarians, and owned no cattle nor did they hunt. In the city, there was cattle, there were old and sick men, there was murder, and above all, there was war.
Teraclis was so distressed at the concepts of injury, illness and death that he resolved to spend his life trying to heal the sick, hurt and dying. He learned medical arts, and when he was old enough travelled closer to the front to heal those injured in the war with a group of like-minded friends.
He had learned a little self defence in the streets of Bron Midnas and for a while that was enough. The occasional straggler he subdued with the aid of his friends. One day though, they were beset by a large force on the road, and it became quickly apparent that they were outmatched, but confiding in the fact that they were clearly only healers and would not be harmed, they didn't run away at once. That was a mistake, and when they were indeed attacked, it was too late for most of them to escape. Teraclis, as far as he knew was the only survivor.
He resolved to never be helpless again, and learned to shoot a bow. Each time he has to use it, it tears his beliefs and his love of life and healing apart, but he does not hesitate anyway.
After years on the roads, near battlefields, he started to take pay to help escort merchant caravans around, taking him further and further away from his erstwhile home, and firmly on a path of wandering adventure. It was during one such escort between Hadothron and Athrand that he met adventurers that coalesced naturally into a tightly knit group.
