Zachary is relieved to came back in one piece and barely no deaths. His breathing slows down and he cleans the sweat off his forehead.

Seeing how te priest was the one to answer the call of Kirsk, Zachary thinks it would be a good idea to speak with him .
OOC:
I'd like to speak with the priest Eadyan if I can

Governor Nighthill’s face turns serious as he listens to your acccount of the temple rescue. "By the sound of it we’d need a new door, which we have no time to contemplate now. We’ll barricade the tunnel from the inside and post a guard in the basement."

Governor Nighthill takes you over to a cooking fire where a heavyset woman is passing out soup and bread. You realise just how hungry you actually feel as you sit down up against the wall and eat your first meal in a while. It’s getting quite late and it’s been a really long day for you all.

Zachary you see Eadyan talking to a few townsfolk and as you approach him, he smiles at you. "Thank you for helping us out my young man".

Kirsk pulls up the rear and makes it out of the church just as the doors are breached. He runs out the back and slams it behind him. Turning to watch as they make it into the tunnel. When they are finally secure he lets out a large breath. He nods his head as Octavia gives her report. "Sir the leader of the ones breaching into the church was one of the lowest members that could be considered in charge. It was an elven woman, or at least part elven. I couldn't get a good look at her. But her insignia and garb marked her as a Dragonclaw. Whatever is happening here isn't being led by anyone of importance, but if they think it to be more important, they may send someone more knowledgable. In fact, it appears that the only reason these people are still alive is that they were led by ineptitude." After everyone breaks apart, Kirsk follows Octavia to get some soup. "Well done Octavia, how badly are you hurt? I have limited healing abilities, but I can help if you need it."
May 28, 2020 4:26 pm
Nighthill looks gravely at you Kirsk, "Unfortunately I believe it is worse than that. We had a good, long conversation with the cultist you brought us. He divulged that he's a member of The Cult of the Dragon. He's apparently a new recruit so as far as reliable, detailed intel goes...it's sparse. They are in Greenest to collect loot for...and I quote...the great hoard that will usher in the reign of the dragon queen...whatever that means. They've been looting small villages up and down the Sword Coast and right here in the Greenfields trying to amass as much wealth as possible. They're operating out of a camp nearby, and they're lead here by the woman in purple, Frulam Mondath and her right hand man, the blue half-dragon, Langdedrosa Cyanwrath. But the one who planned the attack was apparently another half-dragon named Rezmir. If you want to talk to the prisoner yourselves, you're welcome to do so, I'm just not sure he has much left to tell you".

Zachary smiles back at the priest, rising his hand with the palm open towards him.

Don't thank me, most of the work was done by my brave companions.

The expression on Zachary face turns from friendly to curious, almost inquisitive as he tilts his head.

Say, it not moment for questions but... By any chance the name Leosin rings a bell to you?
May 28, 2020 5:12 pm
Ocatavia's fist clenches slightly. 'Well unfortunately I can confirm his words on attacking other villages. That is the reason I am here. Those at my village, the name Tiamat was mentioned. Does that ring any bells to anyone.?'

As Kirsk queries her injury she looks at her shoulder, then shrugs. 'I am fine. I will rest a bit, and have some healing of my own if necessary, but I rather it be focused on the rest of you. Also we may not be done for the night yet.' She smiles at Kirsk, before the Governors words pull her back

I would imagine that, as a Dragon Scholar, I would know the name Tiamat and the like, but I'll roll a religion check just in case.

"Well of course it’s Tiamat behind it. That’s who these cultists follow... I’m sorry that came out rude, I assumed it was common knowledge. Bahamut and Tiamat are locked in constant conflict, that is also why I am here. If it’s just loot they are after then after they ransack they will fall back. Well what is the next steps?" after a pause... "Yes, I do think that I should have a few words with the prisoner. What have you promised him and how long before he is given a trial?"
May 28, 2020 5:45 pm
OOC:
Everything cult related will usually be a religion check. This is very basic knowledge for a dragon scholar, so I’m gonna say that you know regardless
Eadyan looks curiously at you, "Leosin?...hmm...Ah! Yes! The monk. Leosin has been in town for almost two ten-days, he’s here with a couple of other monks. They’ve kept to themselves, but they’ve been to the temple a few times. It is...was...a good place to meditate. It definitely will need a bit of cleaning.". Eadyan looks sad. "I haven’t seen him or his friends since the chaos happened. I’ve been at the temple all night.

Kel, there is a ton of lore on Tiamat but here’s the very basics. There are two dragon gods, Bahamut the god of the metallic dragons and Tiamat, the god of the chromatic dragons. Chromatic dragons are of course by their very nature evil and so is Tiamat. She is a five headed beast with one head in each colour of the chromatic dragons. The stories go that she was banished to the nine hells and still reside there to this day.
May 28, 2020 5:54 pm
Nighthill sighs wearily, he rubs his injured shoulder and looks at you with a look of a man way out of his depth. "Honestly...I’m not sure...there might be more clusters of people around the town, but we have no idea where and with that army out there it would be isuicude to try and find out. But first things first, come I’ll take you to the prisoner.".

Governor Nighthill takes you into the keep and up into the tower. He opens a locked room and shackled to a chair flanked by two guards is the young cultist you captured outside the tunnel. His left eye is swollen and his lip is cut, but other than that looks relatively unscathed. "We haven’t set a date for his trial, but as soon as possible after all this mess. I have made no promises to him".
May 28, 2020 6:56 pm
Kirsk follows, and nods his head. "That is good, I do not wish to give false hope and I am glad that you will give him a trial. That is fair." Kirsk walks in and looks the young man over. He reaches out and using lay on hands gives him 1hp to close up the wounds on his face before taking a step back. "I spared your life, even though you drew weapons against my allies and I hope that my act of goodwill will allow you to speak freely. These men have given you the opportunity to stand trial for your actions, many other towns would have just killed you on the spot. This is another act of fairness shown towards you." Kirsk moves and takes a knee in front of the prisoner to look him in the eye. "I have walked amongst you, I have been inside the cult and seen what they have promised and forced their memebers to do. It is not pretty, nor does it make your blameless in your actions. You have been given a second chance, a chance to make amends for your actions. All we ask is for help." Standing up and turning away, "I have three questions that I hope you can help me with. Question #1. How many bands come out from the camp in total? Question #2, If you are collecting to amass a dragon hoard, is the wealth staying here or will it be moved, and finally question #3, is this hoard for Tiamat herself, or for another chromatic dragon in her service?"
OOC:
I'm assuming a persuasion check is in order

Zachary states blankly into the floor. After thinking for a bit, he raises his head to the priest.

Thank you, at least I know now he's around. By any chance, do you know where could he have gone?
May 28, 2020 7:22 pm
The young man looks at you, Kirsk, tears forming in his eyes. He hesitates for a second and then speaks, "I haven’t been with the cult for very long. I come from a small village here in Greenfields, my parents had nothing, I just wanted...something.... He looks down. "I’ll...tell you what I know, although it’s not much...there are maybe 100 members of the cult in the camp of various ranks. Add to that maybe a couple of hundred kobolds...that’s just an estimate. We all went to Greenest, we were supposed to go in, grab as much as we can and get out before sunrise. The wealth will go to the camp, what happens with it after that, I’m afraid I don’t know. We were told that it’s for Tiamat...I’m...I don’t know...I mean, I don’t think it can be FOR Tiamat, she’s...I mean, she’s not real, right?. It looks like he’s never really contemplated the bigger picture of the cult.

Kirsk, when you joined the cult, your understanding of what it was doing was that they devoted their lives to try seek out evil dragons to transform into dracoliches and serve chromatic dragons in order to try and gain their favour. This sounds like something else entirely...
May 28, 2020 7:26 pm
Eadyan looks thoughtfully at you, Zachary. "From my impression of him, my best guess would be out there somewhere, helping the townsfolk". He puts a reassuring hand on your shoulder and smiles, "Don’t worry, I am sure you will find once all of this settles down. May Chauntea’s light shine upon you."
May 28, 2020 7:45 pm
Zachary can't help but feel disappointed by the words of the priest.

Trying the best to hide his discontent, Zachary draw his best smile on and thanks the priest with a nod.

Zachary return's to the group.
May 28, 2020 7:56 pm
"I pray that justice serves you well, the men here are noble and I assure you that they will take your help into consideration. I too grew up impoverished and broken, and I will say that Tiamat is real, she is evil and the cult that you joined has nothing but death and destruction in their minds. Do not lose hope, because there is one Dragon that is more powerful yet. Mighty Bahamut, the Justice Bringer, pray to him that he may show you the error of your ways. Thank you for the information. I am sure that anything about the camp, routines, or any other bits of information may be helpful to the Governor here." Kirsk nods his head and leaves the room waiting outside to talk with the Governor.
"Based on what he said, I do not think that the cult is doing anything more than filling their own coffers. While it is troublesome, what the cult has done in the past is different. That being said, an army of 200 men and kobolds does not seem like a small force, or one that this keep can hold against. I do not know what the course of action to suggest, but getting word to others in charge may be essential. Whatever you need, I am willing to help as long as the goal is to weaken the cult."

'There are better way to have something than to hurt innocents. Octavia looks at the young man. 'And there is still time to do so. Guard, adventurer, such things take work, but they help not harm. You have seen what the actions of four have doen, how many they've helped. That can be you.' Part of her wanted him to hurt for what had happen to Solana, her village. But it would be better to encourage, let him see it was better to fight for good. 'Kirsk your dragon, does he forgive? After he suffers whatever whatever his trial decides is just of course.'

'While I am not sure about your Tiamat, I have see Bahamut aid my friend here, and I know my own Gond is very real. She likely is to.'
OOC:
Let's see if Octavia learned anything about Tiamat in her adventures.

As you walk back out into the courtyard you all of a sudden hear a horn from the outside of the keep. The people in the courtyard grow quiet and you hear a booming voice shouting from the outside. "Citizens of Greenest!". Governor Nighthill looks gravely at you and motions for you to follow him up onto the parapet. When you get there, you see that the large blue half-dragon, Langdedrosa Cyanwrath, has stepped out in front of the army of raiders, he looks directly at you four as he continues. "It is so nice to see this town's hospitality, you guys have taken so good care of all of us tonight and the gifts you have bestowed upon us will help usher in a new world for all of us...you have all been amazing hosts...except for you". The half-dragon smiles coldly as his stare bores deep into you. "I've been told that you've slain multiple of us...and that I cannot abide...so for each of our slain brethren, we will pay you back tenfold...my father will see to that.... He turns his head to the sky and lifts his arms as he shouts in draconic.

Sassafras sent a note to Coachthor,DarkReaver1998
You hear a roar and then the faint battering of wings above you. The blue dragon starts to descend on the keep. You then hear a booming, deep voice speaking in common. It takes a second before you realise that it is in fact the dragon himself. "You should be happy, it is a great honour to be annihilated by the almighty Lennithon!". He opens his maw and you can see electricity start to crackle and build up in his throat.
OOC:
Everybody give me wisdom saving throws. On the parapet there is a ballista, you need 3 actions to operate it. 1 to load, 1 to aim and 1 to fire. You can work together to use it. Whoever fires it gives me a +6 attack roll. Instead of the two other PCs RPing about loading it and whatnot, I’ll simply remove 3 PC turns everytime you use it. There’s a stack of spears and javelins as well. You can only hit the dragon with ranged attacks and spells. Everyone clear about how it works?

Kel, coming face to face with a dragon fills the bravest with fear and you are no different. It overcomes you and you start to hyperventilate, crouch down and squeeze up against the wall. From there you see the lightening stream out from the dragon’s mouth, it hits one archer on the parapet directly, fully evaporates him, and 4 other archers get violently thrown to ground, they look really hurt.
OOC:
Kel, you’re frightened. You can roll a wisdom saving throw every round. You can’t help with the ballista until you overcome it. You can attack with disadvantage.

There are now 19 archers along with you on the parapet. Their attacks are ineffective .
