"Noted." Kel states. "Never been much of a liar, that I know of."

OOC:
I am not sure if I know him
Zachary rubbs his chin with the back of his hand, thoughtful.

I am not sure... I have just been told about him and how he could help me with my investigation.
OOC:
Have I been told anything else about the monk? Maybe I can roll something to recall.
May 31, 2020 6:41 pm
OOC:
Not really, I mean it’s backstory so it can be what you want it to be to an extent. But the way I thought about it was simply that you heard about Leosin and that he currently was in Greenest and that he’s recognised as being a bit of a scholar. That’s it. You don’t know if he can help you with the book for certain and you’ve never met him. Nesim of course would be able to provide you with a description to help you a bit?
May 31, 2020 7:05 pm
OOC:
Yeah, that's what I thought too. Thank you
Zachary turns to Nesim.
You know of Leosin, what can you tell us about him? How can we recognize him?
May 31, 2020 8:13 pm
"He’s a half-elf, medium short dark hair with a dark goatee. When I left him he was wearing a white and blue tunic.". Nesim hands you the remnants of Leosin’s choker to give him if you see him, and you say your goodbyes at the keep before making your way through the town.

The destruction that the raiders were able to rain down upon these people in just a span of a few hours is astonishing. You walk by the temple and peeking inside as you do, you can see that the raiders looted the place after you left and the altar has been desecrated.

You eventually make it to the outskirts to the south-east and you can indeed see tracks in the grass where it’s been trampled flat. It’s impossible to tell exactly how many they were, but they were many. The tracks lead into the hills of Greenfields.

Zachary stretches out and takes a deep breath.

Its nice to have a change of scenery. I am sad for the people on the town, but at least that is over.

As they walk out of the town, Kirsk turns to the others and offers an explanation and thoughts on the plan. "I know that there were some questions about my actions at the start with the kobalds. As an initiate Paladin I was sent to join the cult and gather information much like we are asked to do now. I know much of the background and I was able to get some information, which led me to this town. While I understand what the cult usually does, I was nothing more than an initiate and underling to the cult. I attended a few torchlit rallies but nothing much else. The only reason I was sent to infiltrate the cult was because I know draconic and I was able to feign ignorance while the kobalds and leaders were talking. An assumed ignorant servant is no real threat to most in power so I was able to gather intelligence right under their noses. That plan may work again, I don't know. I have never met nor heard of these leaders before nor do I know the dragon with them. From my understandings, the main goal of the cult is to coerce older evil dragons to become dracolich's to serve Tiamat. This seems different. I do not know what we are walking into, nor do I know how we will necessarily walk out of it. Are there any thoughts or suggestions?"

You walk for about 4 hours, continuing your conversation on how best to proceed as you’re walking. As you move along, smaller tracks splinter off from the main one here and there, but it’s still easy to follow the trail of the main raiding force. The environment changes slowly over time from gently rolling green hills to a more rugged, stony landscape. The trail leads you in between two steep, rocky plateaus, but it remains mostly flat in between. The sides of the plateaus look extremely difficult to climb, but intermittently there are spots where rock falls and subsidence have created sort of natural ramps that leads up.

It’s just after noon when you see smoke rising in a single column a mile or so ahead. You proceed with caution and as you get closer you hear voices arguing and smell the scent of roasted meat. "I’m telling you, the fire shouldn’t be that big! You’re burning the outside of it and it’ll still be raw in the middle! Now you might be okay with eating raw hens like these despicable creatures, but I’m not!". A voice you now instantly recognise as that of a kobold’s responds in anger. "Who are you calling despicable, human!? At least we can actually cook food!".

You inch closer onto a hill, in cover of a rock and peak ahead. The hills lead down into a lower area dotted with rocks and boulders. In the middle is 4 cultists and 8 kobolds, squabbling by a campfire. You see that they’re roasting fowl but it seems that there’s a disagreement going about how best to cook it.

Zachary points down at the cultist with a blank expression.

You see that? Food..... I mean, troubles
Jun 1, 2020 2:10 pm
Kel shakes her head at the squabble but turns back to address Kirsk's question. "Infiltration likely won't be as easy as just walking in. If we had kept our heads down before this, sure. But some of these people probably know our faces. Especially you, Octavia." she begins. "You faced down their master, showed no fear, and caused him to flee the field. Even the underlings would know your face."

"We could try a direct approach. Simply sneak in. Kill anything that sees us before they can raise an alarm, but I don't see that going well. There's a lot of cultists in that camp." She scratches her head a bit. This felt like it should come naturally to her, but it feels like shes just talking herself in circles. "What say you, Kirsk. You are more accustomed to the infiltration of cults that we are.

'I admit the scars are a bit obvious. I am also not good at lying. We could hope that he doesn't want that to spread? And well.. I mean this group could be a test. See if we can trick them, take them out if we can't?
Jun 1, 2020 8:36 pm
OOC:
What would you like to do? If you’d like to scout them give me perception checks. Sneak, stealth checks. If you’d like to try and bluff them with the outfits, Deception checks.
Jun 1, 2020 9:08 pm
OOC:
I could try to sleep them, that would give us time
Jun 2, 2020 2:35 am
OOC:
Sorry for the delay, I'm in the middle of grading and finals so the next couple of days I might be a bit slower
"I for one can't sneak. I hate the lying, but the truth is that we do want to join with the cult. It's not a lie, we just want to join so that we can gather information and find your man. Let me try the deception, if that doesn't work then we will try the sleep method. I know that the female leader saw me, I'm not sure if she would recognize me in cultist garb." Kirsk rubs his chin for a moment. "Kel and I could go in, Zachary and Octavia can stay out of sight and we can try to bluff our way. I also have a few gold that I could try to bribe my way in."
Coachthor sent a note to Sassafras

OOC:
That’s fine, thanks for the heads up 🙂
Sassafras sent a note to Coachthor

OOC:
Also just so there’s no confusion, this is not the main camp or even in sight of the main camp. These are just a few stragglers deciding to eat a meal on their way to the camp. I don’t know if I was clear enough in my description

As you contemplate over how to beat proceed, the discussion between the humans and the kobolds seem to come to a conclusion with the kobolds grabbing half the roasted hens off the cooking fire and moving about 50 feet away from the humans and further away from you. They settle over by the southern plateau and start to eat their food. You hear two of the cultist laugh about how useless kobolds are before reigniting the debate about how best to cook a bird on a fire.
Jun 3, 2020 1:26 pm
Kirsk watches the Kobalds move away, "I'll go talk with the humans and try my luck, I'll try to get in with them first just watch my back. I'll tell them the truth, that I am looking to join up with the cult and that I have some allies who are a little ways behind me. If it doesn't work then we may have to fight. If it does work, wait a few minutes and then come walking up."
Jun 3, 2020 1:34 pm
OOC:
Alright, and you’re wearing the cultist tunic?
Jun 3, 2020 2:31 pm
'Very well. I will try and watch from a safe distance, but just yell is someone needs a spear in them.
