Thuron speaks to the group. "It's curious these wraps are, as Pap didn't mention the Vargases had any when they left, nor did he say Kobolds were entering the village. I very much doubt the cloths came from the village. I believe the infliction to be deliberate, and the source may be close-at-hand. I feel our best course is to pursue our original intent and perhaps the source will reveal itself to us." Thuron looks to the group for consent.

"Well let's get to it, if we are heading on let's be quick about it. Sooner we finish this the sooner we can check on the village and be sure everyone is safe." Martel heads back to the path the group was on without waiting for a response. He keeps a hand on his warhammer and eyes peeled out over the woods, the kobolds have him on edge.

After a search of the dead kobold reveals nothing of interest you decide that for the well being of Falu it's best to not to get pulled of your given task. Getting in line behind Tayleron the group continues on its way to the Balrang caves.

It isn't long before the woods start to grow a bit thicker, a bit darker, and a lot less inviting. The occasional scattering of small game that was common during the initial stages of your trip have been replaced by an almost erie silence. Once again the ranger silently brings the party to a halt and points out to his left.

Thuron and Martel both catch a glimpse of something moving to the left. At least three figures are shadowing the party about 30 feet to your left. When the party comes to a stop they do as well.

Martel will slip his warhammer into his hands keeping it low but at the ready.

In a whisper he says Does everyone have eyes on our tails? I count three to the left. Anyone see others?

Thuron readies a magic missile spell and replies to Martel in like kind. "I count three also." Then adds in grave tones, "I hope there are no more, as Morris has gone missing and I hate being outnumbered."

Outnumbered or not, it does not matter to me. I shall not suffer these kobolds to live.I raise my bow and aim at the last movement I spotted. I will hold until I'm sure that I'm on target and then fire.

The sound of Tayleron's arrow whizzing through the air breaks the erie silence as it buzzes by the kobold's head and plants itself into a tree. Suddenly there's a flurry of action as commands are chirped between the creatures and weapons are drawn. A few even start to yell taunts at the party in broken Common.

"Ten of us! Three of you... you die!"

You only see three of the beasts, all off to your left, about 30' away. The order for each of the rounds is as follows:

Thuron releases the three missiles, one for each "visible" Kobold. Then crouches behind a tree to prepare his crossbow.

As Tayleron retrieves the arrow from his quiver it catches on the lip just enough to throw off the Ranger's timing and the resulting shot flutters harmlessly through the air. The intended target, stunned at the weakness of the shot, begins to laugh just before a magical dart hammers him in the chest. The other two kobolds in Thuron's field of vision suffer from similar attacks, with the second target dropping to his knees before keeling over on the ground.

Shaking his head clear the first kobold (KB1) charges in at Tayleron with his dagger leading the way. Getting in nice and close the little creature takes a wild swing which the ranger is able to dodge as the blade nearly nicks his arm.

The third kobold (KB3) screams in pain as the magical dart has clearly done some major damage. Undeterred the red scaled animal manages to get off an expertly aimed shot which pings Thuron directly in the forehead, dazing the wizard. (Thuron takes 5HP of damage)

Thinking that he's in the clear Martel is surprised to hear a rush of sound from behind. Quickly turning he spots the charging kobold (KB4) before the creature can get off a good attack.
OOC:

Martel is up, then it's back to Tayleron/Thuron.

Situation:
Tayleron is engaged with KB1.
KB2 is engaged with death. (KIA)
Thuron is having rocks slinged in his direction by KB3.
Martel is engaged with KB4.

With a sneer on his face Martel returns the Kobolds taunt 10 of you! Ha, it's 9 of you, soon to be 8! then with both arms aims his warhammer for the top of his failed attackers head.

Dazed, Thuron hastily performs a shield spell and aims his crossbow at his attacker. "Vile creature, I shall suffer you not." Thuron releases a bolt at KB3.

5 hit points! Yikes! I'm too squishy for that!

If this is too many actions, I'll keep the shield, take cover, and hold the attack until my next turn.

The Kobold rushes up toward me, as I draw my short sword. I parry it's hasty strike which just misses my arm. "Hai! Vile vermin. You shall not be leaving here alive." I spin around and swing my sword at kb1.

Tayleron's and Martel's attacks both miss as the little creatures prove elusively agile dodging both attacks with ease and quickly countering with attacks of their own. (Tayleron and Martel each take 3HP damage).

The wounded rock slinger, however, has seen his last battle as a bolt from Thuron's crossbow rips through its neck, dropping the gagging kobold to the ground.
OOC:
Thuron: Shield is cast as a Reaction, which means you can cast it as you're being hit. So let's say that you cast it right before the rock pinged your head and is enough to protect you from taking damage (you're back up to full HP). You can then make your crossbow attack as your normal action for the turn.

Martel is up, then it's back to Tayleron/Thuron.

Grunting as he takes a hit from the kobold Martel curses himself for being theatrical with his first attack. He knows better, when in combat you just need to get the job done. As this runs through his mind he is swinging at the little vermin before it gets its guard up.
