No worries CherokeeWind! No rush, and whenever you're ready, we'll be here. Take as much time as you feel you need :)

I wanted to ask if you have a preference on how you would like me to reenter the game, Runkyndig? I was considering either Turner could have been so absorbed in mounting and attuning the gun that she was lost in her own world and now that she has completed the project comes out of it or she simply could have been in the background of all the scenes.

Turner was in her bunk. And now she is back from her nap

Deadpool, I'm sure you simply overlooked Turner stating her name for your benefit but I thought it a post of interest to roll with it. That seems like a bit of heat to deliver without us previously playing together so I wanted to clearly state it was only a bit of drama for the game.

Lol, don't worry, I'm the type of guy you can actually throw anything at and I'll go with it.

Ugh! The ER for the third time in two weeks! Trying to clean the garage and inventory damage for insurance landed a fish hook in the hand!

At the beach with limited connectivity and time behind a keyboard, but I'll get a post in either over the weekend or at beginning of next week.

I should have made an armorer artificer who never takes his helmet off. Next we need to escort the sole surviving frogfolk to their kin on another sphere. ;)

Now I have to incorporate a giant delicious egg into the story :D

Khezzik is not quite as cute as Baby Yoda though. :)

You are all playing your characters well, and I commend you for that. If you don't have inspiration all ready, then add it now by all means.

That being said, I really feel that this group is missing an alpha among all the omega's.
Who is the captain of your vessel? Who is the leader of your group? It seems to me that your characters are all waiting for someone else to take the initiative and it slows down the momentum.

We have players who are dialing down their activity due to real-life stuff, and I respect that and try to accommodate it. But I feel that the game is slowing down to a crawl.

My first idea for a remedy was to invite more players (as you are in a place in the story where it would make good sense to add to the party), but I am no longer sure that is a good idea.
My second idea is that I take more control over the narrative, but then I risk railroading you, and I'm not a fan of that myself

What do you think?

Apologies for the delayed posting rate. Takeshi doesn't mind taking the helm, so to speak, and would seek to guide the group toward what is necessary to get them home. However, I can see this wizard becoming more and more enamored with the prospects of becoming an interplanar archmage. As such, he has no bones in taking charge to see the group succeed.

I think Turner was our natural dynamic go-getter of a leader, unfortunately. Khezzik has no desire or ability to lead, Nirion lacks confidence and experience, Tonik seems content to see where things go and fiddle with stuff along the way. That leaves Takeshi, who is also the oldest and the most powerful mage, and has previously placed himself in the role of mentor and teacher, as the best fit for leader.

If Gladr is okay to take that on, and can work around the issue of not particularly wanting to return to Waterdeep, then I'm happy with that. Otherwise, I'd be fine with adding another player, or some light railroading.

(I would be happy to post more, but in the current situation Khezzik doesn't have much to say, especially in front of the dwarves. I check in multiple times a day and I'll let you know if I won't be around, so if I'm not posting it's because I have nothing to add. I wish we had a little "like" button or some indication of who has read each post!)

Waterdeep has a special place in the wizard's heart, if for nothing more than his home and stuff are in it. :D

I am good progressing to being on/near the frogfolk's planet. Perhaps the wizards or sorcerers would conjure up better questions, but this is a good learning opportunity to do something as a group "in action."

I also look forward to when the artificer and Khezzik decide to disarm the reality bomb.

Im happy with whatever everyone chooses. I never built Nirion to be a leader. He would make a decent one as he would be cautious (since he's afraid of things exploding on his face) but he also is super naive. that doesn't lend itself to leadership role. That said I'm really enjoying this. I agree that Takeshi would be the best candidate

Yeah, Leo isn't really a leader either unfortunately, and I'll freely admit that I haven't been pushing the story forward much with him. He's been more reactionary because I have been so busy irl, and I honestly don't see myself gaining any more freetime any time soon. I have either had to quit or put on hiatus most of the games I was in/running.

I am not looking for pity or reassurances or anything when I say this, but if you would like to add someone new to the game who might be more active/play a character with a leader role, I completely understand and I am okay with Leo and I leaving the group or at least taking a small break from the group, perhaps staying behind on the dwarven stronghold to study for a while lol. I do not want to drag this game down. (I know that's not what you were implying, but still).

I have been impressed at how the characters really have been richly developed and well played. With the cast of current characters, I believe the elder wizard to hold himself in a manner of a wise leader and if Galdr is willing to become a driving force pushing us forward when we lag then he has my vote too.

I'm sorry my health has been a barrier to my full participation and I am grateful everyone has been a peach letting me play when I can. If the consensus is to add another player then I am for it. I am also fine with light railroading. Anything that keeps momentum from dying as you have put a great game together, Runekyndig.
Jul 8, 2021 12:26 pm
I'm glad to see you still around, Cherokee, and I pray your health improves. I can keep us driving forward, but I am fine with the offered alternatives. I'm not sure one more player would increase the pace, but strong scene transitions may help from time to time. This setting and story is one I've looked for in a game since coming back to D&D.
