Act I: Inauspicious Start

When she first sees you, the woman turns to the kenku and says "Lady Ashlyn was not lying, he doe looks like a winged drow..." the after you are finished and you speak the motto of the Lightbringers, she says "Oh good, more Lightbringers, I'll feel even more left out now..."

The kenku looks at you, his eyes sparkling. You suspect that if his facial features were capable of it, he would be smiling right now.
"Suffer no false life brother."
As he takes out a medallion representing a stylized half-sun, half-moon disc. "Yes, the humans here are good people, although the locals seems to be suspicious of non-humans... Survivors you say?"

He jumps down, alighting on the ground in front of them. Her bows before the lady.

"I am Veroth."

In a subtler voice, yet still one not intended to speak Common comfortably, he says to the kenku: "I've been waiting for you, you and others, I was told. The infestation runs deep."

He points back in the direction from which he flew. "Two women. Humans. They are holed up in separate buildings. They fear me, else I would help them."

Ujjaya, who is standing by the tavern door when the people rush in screaming, steps outside with an arrow already nocked. He sees Kayleigh and Kuroi confronting what does appear to be a winged drow. Ujjaya trains his weapon on the apparition but his falcon's gaze spots the Lightbringer medallion. Could this be a Lightbringer, or did this creature steal the medallion from one of their slain brothers? Ujjaya narrows his eyes and does not lower his bow.
Aug 2, 2016 3:56 am
Weiryn rushes out behind Ujjaya, holy symbol in hand. When his eyes clear from exiting the tavern and he sees Kayleigh and Kuroi speaking with the demon, with Ujjaya not firing, he approaches cautiously.

This one looks too much like a drow... And Weiryn is all too familiar with the treachery of the dark elves. Almost as familiar with it as he is the reaction to their appearance.

Brother Kuroi, would you mind introducing me to your...new friend?

Kuroi turns towards Weiryn. "Well, it seem I no longer have the honors of being the weirdest-looking Lightbringer... Also, is there such a thing as wing-envy? Anyways, he's called Veroth and apparently he has spotted other survivors to the south of here who are in needs of escorting."
Aug 2, 2016 4:20 am
Veroth watches the newcomers with obvious suspicion and no small amount of malice. "You're Lightbringers, too? I was to meet you here, but arrove earlier. I've had a chance to scout arround," he says, stretching his wings out to their full length.

"There are others isolated, trapped by the hated ones. Together, we should be able to escort them to the others. And maybe they will listen to you and your pretty faces. Not to me will they listen," he finishes, his eyes smoldering with dark emotion.

Indeed, Veroth. Suffer no false life, Weiryn states as he looks the stranger over. How many innocents are there, and how many undead stand between us and them?

I am nearly spent...but I can't allow any innocents to suffer. And if this one is lying, I'll banish him back to the Abyss myself, he thinks to himself before Veroth responds.

Ujjaya lowers his bow and approaches. "Suffer no false life." After returning his armaments to their quiver he bows to the newcomer. "Shanti, peace be upon you, Veroth. I am Ujjaya."
Aug 2, 2016 4:40 am
In a quieter, less Infernal voice, he repeats "Suffer no false life. There are two women, one older, one younger. That way," he gestures. "They are well secured, I think, but they have been alone for a few days now."

If the others will follow, he will lead, by land, steathily and warily.

"It is good to meet you Veroth the. Now let us go escort these women in need."

Roland falls into line behind the newcomer, eyes wide to his surroundings.

Kuroi will speak. "I'll remain here and help Lady Ashlyn keep an eye out while you guys go find these women. There are still corpses that needs clearing out and I feel it might do some good with the locals if they see a nonhuman helping them out."

You jump (or fly) over the southern barricade, and progress about a hundred feet or so down the street before you finally start hearing a moaning sob which floats through the still, fray streets, hoarse and drained of hope. The sound issues from a darkened, two-story building.

Another look around to take in the new surroundings. Any visible enemies or a clear point of entry into the building?

Weiryn will follow about 10 feet behind Roland, knowing that his stealth skills leave much to be desired. He will use the remainder of his Deathwatch spell to look out for any undead threats.

OOC:
Okay. We'll do a quick rewind not that Naat is back.
Sa basically, pretty much everyone except Darren and Kayleigh will have noticed that the tavern's named seems to have originally been "The Blood of the Vine Tavern". However, rather recently (a few decades or so) somebody scratched an "N" over the "F", turning its name into "Blodd on the Vine Tavern".
Also, while Weiryn will have noticed a few injured people inside the tavern, nobody seemed to be in dire need of medical attention...
OOC:
And now back to our scheduled program. :D

Arriving at the first building, towing a growing train of rescuers, Veroth sidles up to the door. Her casts an eye about for dead ones, before waving the others forward.

He is anxious with so many strangers nearby. The promises of the spoken catchphrase linger in his ear, 'Suffer no false life'. Promises are deceiving, and as competent as they may be, he doesn't know what to expect from them. There is a danger in the unfamiliar. For them, too, he intuits.

He listens at the door briefly before examining the lock for boobytraps and to prepare to unlock it.

He whispers to the nearest Lightbringer: "I'll unlock the door and open it. One of you needs to gain her trust. No one trusts my kind. Fair?"

I will come with you, Roland, in case there are wounded.

Weiryn will follow behind the gunslinger, his holy symbol in plain sight, Lightbringer pendant cinching his cloak tight.

the door is not trapped, and the lock is rather simple. You are in, and surprised to see that the door and windows are not even boarded. The coarse sobbing comes from somewhere upstairs. you carefully follow the sobbing upstairs, alert to the presence of any undead, there seems to be no traces of them, thankfully. You eventually reach a bedroom. This bedroom is painted bright pink with fluffy white clouds. A big yellow sun with a smiling face stares down from the ceiling. A great fairy castle with gleaming crystal windows adorns a wall, with pretty girls and unicorns, and handsome lords painted on its verandas and in the courtyard. A small canopied bed stands in one corner of the room, made up perfectly. Dolls, play-princess crowns, and other little girl’s toys fill shelves. In the centre of the floor sobs a despondent older woman.

Entering what is obviously the room of a little girl, Weiryn feels his stomach tie itself into knots as he sweeps his gaze around. Please, Pharasma...no... he thinks to himself as he removes his gauntlets, slipping them into his belt before he kneels beside the woman and lays a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

Ma'am? I am with the Lightbringers. My name is Weiryn.
