"Aye. Proper stone would be lot's better than wood, but lemme take a gander, and I might have a suggestion or two for ye."

Well, a quick glance shows you to doors and windows are solidly boarded up, as solidly as wood can be, even though the execution was a bit poor. You could always pile up furniture behind the windows, but then you'd lose the ability to peer between the planks. But then again, you might need only one or two windows at most per side through which to peer out of... Of course, if you had the manpower, a moat would be nice...

After a quick assessment of the fortifications, Durgrim delivers his verdict. "Solid work, lads! If I had but a small Dwarven crew and a few days I would build stone walls and a moat, but alas. This is as good as we can this with what we have."

"Lady Ireena did the bulk of the work," Weiryn says. "She has stayed in the house alone for quite some time, by my understanding."

As they finish securing the building and everyone begins to return to their rest, Weiryn will turn to the paladin. "Durgrim, does Torag perhaps have any blessings that might aid the Lady Ireena in protecting her home and sitting vigil with her father?"
Sep 13, 2016 10:47 pm
"Alas, I am no cleric. As a hammer of Torag I am more of an offensive weapon, made to strike down evil where I find it. However, wherever I be, you shall always feel Torags presence. He steels the will and hones the bravery of anyone who stands by his champions."

I don't have any relevant spells prepared. My aura of courage gives you +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects as long as you stay within 10ft of me though

You will able to sleep undisturbed for the rest of the night. You wake up next morning, ready to continue on your quest.

Before going to bed, Durgrim changes into his night-chain-shirt. He rolls out his bedroll next to Orins and sleeps fitfully, disturbed by the knowledge of such an ancient evil as Strahd.

When the morning comes, Durgrim gets up, changes back in to his fullplate, and rolls up his bedroll. He takes out some loaves of Dwarven bread and salt meat. "Do ye care for some Dwarven bread, brothers? And what do ye plan on doin this day? This land needs cleansing, but I wonder how we are to bring such an anicent vampir to the stake."

Declining the offered bread with a brief smile, Weiryn responds "I promised Sister Ashlyn, a fellow Lightbringer, that we would go with her to find her companions and then speak with Madam Eva about how to best purify this land. Speaking of, we should probably make our way back to the tavern and check on the other villagers." Turning to Ireena, he walks to her father's body. "First, however, I have a promise to keep..."

Praying to Pharasma, his holy symbol begins to gently glow, and positive energy saturates the room containing the body of the fallen burgomaster. His prayer complete, he looks at Ireena. "It is not a permanent solution by any means, but it will help to protect you and prevent your father from rising. I hope you will reconsider our offer to escort you back to the tavern, but I understand your reasoning if you still decline."

Casting Consecrate on the room...it will last for 6 hours.

Roland stands next to the house in the shadows and empties his stomach upon the ground. He is in bad shape and knows it, but presses ever onward. He shall not falter in the face of a little sickness. He takes out his revolver and changes back to standard ammunition, occasionally vomiting on the ground during the process. When complete he wipes his mouth carefully and composes himself before rejoining the group. "Let us be on our way brothers, we have a land cleanse after all.

"Thank you for everything you've done, but I must decline as I refuse to leave my father's body's side. But I wish you the best of luck on your journey and may we meet again under more auspicious circumstances."

She then turns to Durgrim.

"If you are going to the town square, perhaps you should take your cousin with you. There is safety in number and if he stays here, I cannot guarantee his safety."

Veroth hands the lady Ireena a dose of Alchemical Vampire Repellant. He speaks carefully, attempting to mimic a human sounding voice, and explaining its use. "It might not work on the very powerful. Good luck."
Sep 19, 2016 4:13 pm
"Thank you. Hopefully it will have some effect, if only to give me the few seconds I need to escape or something like that."

Once they are on the road, Weiryn begins speaking quietly to the others, in the hopes they are not overheard by the lady Ireena.

"Listen well, my brothers. Durgrim, if you feel as though you are being watched, tell me immediately. I will begin studying spells that may protect you, but the cloth that the worg took from your clothes last night can become a powerful channel to scry upon you, possibly work magicks upon you from afar. Divination is not exactly my strong suit, but I do know that blood and an item belonging to a person can greatly strengthen the link...and if this creature is as old as they say, then he has had plenty of time to learn how to do something with it."

You make your way through the misty streets of Barovia, eventually reaching the town square, where familiar faces wave at you from behind barricades.

Once you are within earshot, Kuroi greets you. "Suffer no false life brothers. I certainly hope your night was not as eventful as ours. Seems our arrival in Barovia has attracted some attention."
Sep 19, 2016 4:58 pm
"Best of luck to you, Ireena. Perhaps we can make our way back soon to check up on you and renew the protections on the house."

Darren nods at Weiryn's advice, people's possessions can be used to work powerful magic on them...

"To Madam Eva, then?" he asks the others, making sure he has all of his equipment before they leave.
Sep 19, 2016 4:59 pm
"What kind of attention?" Darren asks, dreading the answer.
Sep 19, 2016 5:09 pm
"I'm not entirely sure what you'd call it as I'm not expert in the different types of undead, but it was some sort of spectral creature. Scared the hell out of our horses, and when we went out to investigate, it struck. A nasty bugger too, Kayleigh and I feel a bit drained from that battle. Good thing Lady Ashlyn was with us, otherwise I'm not sure we'd be having this conversation right now..."
Sep 19, 2016 5:22 pm
Weiryn thinks for a moment about any spectral undead that can leave one feeling drained of life and vitality...

"Things are progressing rapidly here. I fear that lest we strike soon, more attention will fall upon this refuge."

Veroth's eyes flit about, and he spreads his wings, flapping upwards to hang from the upper eaves. He looks about, suspicious of any movement.
