So long as @aquafina and @Data are comfortable with that I’d have no problem with it! I don’t want to cause too much reshuffling, of course.

That all fits perfectly for Byron! I love it!

I think I only mentioned Byron in two spots, so if you'd prefer Byra, then I can also edit my posts quick, but I also like how Byra Nashek would get shortened to Byron as a nickname. Let me know.

I don't really like the last pre-gen bond I have so I'm going to adapt one from the Wizard's Bonds because Bards have a touch of Arcane Arts.
Quote:
Having taught me the secrets of fireworks, I know Byron will play an important role in the events to come. I have foreseen it!
Mance has recurring dreams of encroaching ice spreading across the whole world causing nightmarish panic and suffering ... until suddenly magnificent fireworks burst all across the heavens ... the fireworks cause Mance to wake up with a jolt out of the dream but with a lingering feeling of salvation and thoughts of Byron who taught Mance about fireworks.

I actually love Byron so no need to edit! I like the implied history and potential cross-cultural exchange in the nickname.

How would you feel about "Mance has felt the hellish touch of fire, now they know my strength"? It sort of hints at an initial clash—her original assignment as firemaster—that warmed into genuine respect.

The language is a little harsh for my liking so with permish I’d likely tone it down to "Mance has felt the touch of my fire, now they know its strength"? Its strength is my strength too, after all!

That leaves "I cast something into the fire for Teo and still owe them their due," which feels rich with subtext. Was I asked to? What do I owe? Let me know what you think, Aqua!

Yes, that's perfect. It also works well as a reference to Byron teaching Mance about fireworks!

Immolators also start with "a symbol of sacrifices past", so I’ve decided before she was apprenticed she wanted to be a hunter like her mother, who fed the family and much of the village with her prowess. Byron never had the knack, though, nor the temperament, so her symbol is a bracelet made from the bowstring of her starter bow and a bit of steel from its quiver.

It’s a symbol of a forgotten dream, and, if @aquafina is cool with it and she’s got a bit of a resentment toward Teo, it would add a layer there; she has some lingering jealousy over their closeness to nature and ability to master it in a less destructive way.

I'm definitely good with everything discussed here! We'll wait a bit longer for @aquafina to chime in about the last Bond, but I think otherwise Byron is good to go!

I like everything too. The bracelet is a nice sentimental touch that adds some great backstory!

Sorry guys, I’ve been wrapped up in moving into a new apartment the past couple days and it’s left me absolutely exhausted. I hope to be able to update all my games tmrw morning :)

No worries, good luck with the move!

Jabes.plays.RPG says:
"Teo is always getting into trouble—I must protect them from themselves."
I'm not sure this really fits Teo, except for maybe that he still might not be completely learned in the way of civilized society and still sticks out like a ghostly thumb amongst common people.
The remaining two druid bonds feel too savage for Teo, who is more spiritual than bestial. So I was thinking maybe this one from the Ranger bond list for Byra?
Quote:
Byra does not understand life in the wild, so I will teach them.
So perhaps Byra swung by Teo's village once to help her learn to be a better hunter, Teo tried to teach her how to tap into nature's spirits, but she couldn't figure out how. So now she resents him a little bit, but he's still willing to teach her a few things? Maybe Byra feels bad for 'wasting' Teo's time and still feels like she owes him something for his time spent attempting to teach her?

In that case I will leave the bond with Teo ("ways are strange to me...") untouched since we already agreed on that. I'll have a look around the other classes to find a fitting bond with Byron.

@akorn, how about this one I took from the Fighter bonds:

"ByronĀ owes me their life, whether they admit it or not."
Jan 7, 2022 5:20 pm
I’m happy with both of those for Teo and Bonepipe! This is one of my favorite things about the Bonda system honestly: the way it fleshes out characters through their relationships ā˜ŗļø

@aquafina, should we just let whatever Byron cast into the fire for Teo come up in play? Would buy us a bit of time to feel out the exact dynamics of their interactions, so I’m in favor. Edit: Or no wait, I see. The time she felt she wasted was what was sacrificed, I like that. Pardon my reading comprehension error I’m unmedicated this morning lol

Haha, no worries!

Great! Locking in the bond with Byron on Bonepipe's sheet. We can work out our shared history as we go along. šŸ™‚

Because Bonepipe successfully taunted the Leviathan he deals ongoing additional +2 damage against it, correct? I forgot to apply it to the harpoon attack (should be total 11) and the stomp attack (should total 14).

I've also been forgetting to subtract my Armor from incoming damage. Wave damage would have been 5, and then fin damage would have been 3.

Oh you know what, I forgot to do that as well!

Ah, yeah, I forgot to account for that too (and the +2 against Bonepipe). Sorry, guys! I'll go back and audit the damage and things tomorrow. A write-up of it will probably be useful in any case.

Sorry, isn't that +2 ongoing inflicted by the Barbarian against an enemy he has successfully taunted? In other words, +2 against the foe, not against the Barbarian?
Data says:
you should, however, roll CON to make sure you don't get Sick.
Added the roll to my existing post rather than make a new one. šŸ˜€
Looking forward to @akorn's first IC post!
