"Don’t know how easily the elf will be able to find their way back if we don’t change course," the Firemaster says to the captain in a way that makes her ambivalence about such a thing clear.

But I owe him, she thinks.

"But I owe him," she sighs.

"Hate to say it, Mance, but I think we ought to follow the flock."

"Crazy elf," Bonepipe mutters, as he prepares to change the rowboat's course to match the ship’s. Teo's ways are strange and confusing.

Love the callbacks to the Bonds :)
Teo is not one to ignore a vision or premonition, he trusts the spirits that flow throughout this world and its reflections. He doesn't even need to wait for his grandmama to tell him; he knows without hesitation he must continue to follow this bird and see where it leads him.

Mance comes out of his quarters onto deck at Bonepipe's booming call. Joining Byron to learn more about what happened, he sees no reason not to adjust their course slightly to follow the druid so they don't lose him, even if it means it delays their arrival slightly.

"I get the impression that Teo wouldn't ditch us like that on a whim."

He gives the helms the signal to adjust course north-northwest and then watches the horizon in anticipation.

Byron nods.

"I’ll stoke the furnaces. And if you ever hear me say ‘let’s follow the flock’ again, toss me overboard and let the Woe have me."

She grins, flame visibly dancing behind her teeth, then stalks off to her firemaster duties.

OOC:
The bonds are great for this!
The Symphony changes course to follow after Falteon and the mysterious red bird, as it leads them toward a different part of the shore.

The next hours of the trip were, thankfully, more peaceful than the first, with nothing but the steady waves of the sea surrounding their ship. The temperature gets progressively colder as they draw closer, until it was almost all one could think of.
OOC:
Teo might actually end up perching on the ship, since everyone's going the same direction and it's a long way.
It's several hours and a long night of sailing in the bitter cold before the crew of the Symphony spots land in the distance, snow-covered and surrounded by glaciers.

"LAND HO!" Someone on the crew shouts, and several people come out to catch a glimpse of land.

The frozen wasteland of Eiselcross. Where their journey will truly begin.

Those watching the bird, however, see it perch not on shore, but on the top-mast of another ship, wrecked among the glaciers.
OOC:
What will you do?

"There’s our crimson friend," Byron calls, pointing to the speck of red on the horizon, and as the Symphony bears closer she’s struck dumb by the sight of the other, wrecked ship.

Not the sort of thing a sailor likes to see…

She looks down at her feet, says a prayer to—

"I'm taking a closer look," Bonepipe calls out, pointing the rowboat towards the wreck. "Wanna come with me?

"I really do!" she calls back. "…but how are you feeling?"

OOC:
Bonepipe still feels all fired up!

It'll be a Defy Danger to row around the glaciers, though a Discern Realities might help with that as well.
The wrecked ship is small - perhaps a personal travel vessel - but the damage looks new. There's no sound coming from within the ship, except for the steady sounds of the waves washing in and out.

Bonepipe thumps his chest. "Feeling great!"

He brings the rowboat close to pick up anyone who wishes to come along, takes a few moments to study the currents and eddies around the glaciers and figure out the best approach, then starts rowing for the wreck.

Byron climbs aboard, careful not to sit too close just in case. She’s used to the broad deck of the Symphony, so the swaying of the rowboat knocks her flat on her butt, but she takes it in stride and laughs heartily.

"Think this thing is meant for smaller sailors…"

She turns and gestures to anyone else considering coming aboard to do so, then fixes her eyes on the waters in hopes of helping find a safe path.

After noticing the ship alter its course to follow him, Falteo slows down and lets the boat catch up to him. For the remainder of the trip to the wreckage, he remains perched on either the tip of the bow or the top of the crow's nest, whichever position lends him a better view of the red bird.

When they arrive, Falteo takes to the sky once more and does a flyby around the air above the wreckage to get a better view of all of its angles. Afterwards, he flies down closer to where the red bird is sitting on the mast and squawks at it without landing, hoping to get the bird to tell him what this place means.
OOC:
Could instead take mine as Aid, since there have already been two Disceran Realities. But otherwise looking for What happened here recently, What is about to happen, and What here is useful or valuable to me

Bonepipe is too busy rowing the RAFT OF CHAMPINS to pay too much attention to his surroundings, which quite nearly causes him to run directly into a glacier just barely peeking out of the water.
OOC:
I'm going to withhold the complication for now, since, potentially, Teo might alert Bonepipe with Aid to give him the +1. If he doesn't get the Aid, the complication will be something you notice a little later, that way things can keep moving!
After some effort, Bonepipe pulls up to the side of the ship, which is half-tilted into the water.
OOC:
Bonepipe can mark XP for the failed Discern Realities!
Byron, meanwhile, is keeping an eye out for anything unusual, and gasps when she realizes that one of these glaciers has an eye.
OOC:
The Discern Realities question I think is best answered here: What here is not what it appears to be?
Fortunately, it's not a moving one - but what the group had mistaken for glaciers appears to instead be the frozen corpse of another giant ice-fish. What's even more surprising is that it doesn't even seem to be the same one they fought before. It's entire body is solid ice, its head and tail curled around the wrecked ship.

Mance, through his monoscope, can see the name of the ship painted on the side - The Flying Remorhaz - but the name doesn't ring any bells with him. He'll have to remember to look that up later.
OOC:
Mance can mark XP!
The red bird doesn't say anything to Teo, but instead looks down toward the trapdoor leading to be lower deck of the ship.
OOC:
So, the only things Aid will assist with is Bonepipe's Defy Danger roll - bumping it from a 9 to a 10. However, if Teo keeps it as a Discern Realities roll, he would discover the answer to 3 out of of the following questions (leaving out the one Byron got):

What happened here recently?
What is about to happen?
What should I be on the lookout for?
What here is useful or valuable to me?
Who’s really in control here?
OOC:
What will you do?

Byron gasps a plume of smoke.

"That’s not a glacier," she says, awestruck, and she points out the fins and eyes to Bonepipe. "Poor bastard never stood a chance."
Jan 18, 2022 9:15 am
"Have you ever heard of the Flying Remorhaz?" Mance asks Helga, who was waiting for a turn to look through the monoscope.

"Flying What?" she grabs the eye-piece and takes a look herself. "Re-mor-haz," she sounds out, "Never heard of it."

Mance writes a note about it on one of the music sheets in his pocket, so he'll remember it later once they get into Syrinlya, then waits on deck patiently while the others explore the wreck more closely.

OOC:
Bonepipe and Byron could both climb onto the deck of the ship, as soon as they secure the boat. Or one could go and the other could stay in the boat.
There's not much to be seen on the deck of the ship - the hull is cracked beyond repair, and most anything that might have been on deck that wasn't tied down is most certainly at the bottom of the Depths by now.

It's deathly quiet when the shrill whistle of the red-bird, still perched on the ship's mast, grabs the groups attention. The bird then flies down from the mast to land on the handle of the trapdoor.
OOC:
What will you do?
Byron tried a Spout Lore on the red bird before, but I don't think anyone else tried. It's not quite covered by Mance's Bardic Lore, unfortunately.

Bonepipe might have scoffed at Teo following the bird before, but now he's fascinated by the little red fellow with plumage the exact shade of scarlet he dyes his spiked red hair. After clambering onto the deck of the ship and tying the rowboat to the rail, he throws open the trapdoor.

Not eager to be left alone, Byron also clambers onto the wrecked ship. She keeps her distance from Bonepipe—just in case—but she tries to find a place to stand that will let her peer into the trapdoor for a glimpse at what lies beneath.
