Vad still wants to check out the moldy stuff and he's totally down with Leth getting himself some armor.

Shamush is interested in acquiring some of the white mold and any other hallucinogens he can bargain for. He's also interested in learning the story of the place, any additional information on its history and structure.

3) If it's cool with the group, would it be possible for Leth to use some party funds to pick up a set of Studded Leather armor?
Fine with me!
I don't want to get anything from the shops.

Go get yourself some studded armor, stud.

OOC:
Dubious medicine sounds like it could be fun. How much are those?

Dubious medicine would range from 5 SP to 10 GP depending on how dubious you want it to be. Random fungus-based psychoactive substances would go for anywhere from 3 CP to 1 GP. Anyone who wants to try some white mold can take some on their way out of the citadel.

You don't know if you have much time for information-gathering, but it's possible your escort might be able to answer some questions, and you do have a long walk to your destination. The sorts of people Shamush would be buying mushrooms from wouldn't be able to tell you much about the place beyond what was covered in the first post of this chapter.

Last chance for any business here, we'll move on to the next phase in a short while.

Some time later, when you're all back at your quarters, your escort arrives to collect you. "You must be the Hazard party," he says as he steps into the hall to your rooms. "I'm Grimzo. The Lady Majestic herself sent for me to take you there." Grimzo is a tall, lanky man of middle age, with a long, lined face and stringy hair. He wears a wide-brimmed hat and a dirty gray duster, and speaks with a Gaadish accent. Three parallel lines of white mold run across his forehead. "You read to set off? We got a long walk ahead of us."

Zangua rises, thankful at least for a moment's respite. His pack is ready, but he spends some time methodically donning the scale mail before securing the rest of his equipment.
Jun 29, 2016 4:28 am
Leth finishes adjusting his new armor, gives it one last inspection, then nods in satisfaction and shoulders his pack in preparation to leave.
OOC:
I think it would be fun to get a bunch of mystery medicine - who knows what wacky effects that could have - but I don't think Leth would be trusting enough to buy much of it. Since his Poultices can't really be used in the middle of combat, I think he probably spent a gold piece on a single vial of "medicine", in case of an extreme emergency.

eta: Oh, could he have sold his old armor? I didn't even think about that

"Lead on, Grimzo."

Lookin' fresh to death, Leth. Let me know how much to adjust the Party Lootz for the armor purchase.
Jun 29, 2016 4:17 pm
Yes, you can sell your old armor for 20% of the original PHB price.

Also, please deduct 20 GP from party loot so Zora can get herself some leather armor and a short sword.

While shopping, Leth picks up a vial of teal liquid with very tiny toadstools floating in it. It may or may not work as a healing item, but it looks pretty and it was only 1 GP.

Grimzo leads the party out to the south canyon. Children caked in white run shrieking past you, as children do. At the end of this long canyon, you pass through a guarded gate like the one you came to this place through. Beyond the gate, a short rocky passage gives way to a long, wide tunnel of soft, damp earth.

"This is the easy leg," Grimzo says. "After you're past the seal, we part ways. The going will be a little rougher but if you just keep heading south, you'll be fine. Once you're under the wicked city the real fun begins. Where Hazard connects to the Ways is in the depths of the Zapanim family crypts." He punctuates this with a suggestive leer. "You all look like you can handle yourselves, though. Any questions?"
Jun 29, 2016 4:22 pm
"You've been there?" asks Zangua. He hopes to follow up with another question of what "fun" they can expect, if the answer is affirmative.
Jun 29, 2016 4:39 pm
"I haven't," he says. "I've known folk who have. Now, they were the sort who would never tell you there weren't unquiet dead in whatever crypts they happened to find themselves in -- you know what I mean?" He waggles his eyebrows.
Jun 29, 2016 5:03 pm
Zangua spits on the ground. "Great."
Jun 29, 2016 6:49 pm
Shamush falls in beside Grimzo and gives the man a small salute in greeting. "Hoy there! Name's Shamush. Say now Grimzo, what can you tell us about the Lady Majestic? What's her story? I found her, uh... enchanting! Yeah, real enchanting!"

Shamush would buy 1.5 gp worth of psychoactive substances and take what he would judge to be a respectful amount of the white fungus to boot.
Jun 29, 2016 9:22 pm
There's no shortage of white mold, so you can assume you brought enough to share if anybody else wants some.

"She's a wonder, isn't she? No place like this in all of Bload. Maybe not in the whole Werld. She made it, and she lets us take part in it and she asks next to nothing of us. Her story?" He grins. "Her story's infinite, friend. She's not of this world. Surely you could see that when you were in her presence.

"So what's your story? Got to get to Hazard to deliver this little lass to her mama? Must be some good reason you can't just walk in the front gates."

Zora rolls her eyes.

OOC:
Studded armor cost 45 gp, I put 2 gp back from selling the old leather armor
Leth listens to Grimzo describe their destination with growing anxiety. He glances at the "new" sword at his side and shuffles over to Felor.
"You don't reckon a magical sword like this might be a little more effective against the living dead, do you?" He asks with a raised eyebrow.
OOC:
Asking for Leth and for me; I'm not super sure on what the rules about magical weapons are.
Jun 30, 2016 5:58 pm
"A magical sword?" Grimzo gives the weapon hanging from your side an exaggerated, goggle-eyed stare. "I'd say a magical sword is a good thing to have in just about any situation."

The tunnel narrows as you press deeper and deeper into its depths. Gauzy white mildew grows along the walls and ceiling. The air down here is thick and stale, unpleasant to breathe.

"How much further?" Zora asks.

"Maybe an hour?" Grimzo answers with a shrug.
Jun 30, 2016 9:43 pm
We are going to progress to a scene change of sorts next, so if anybody has any questions for Grimzo before that happens, now's the time.
Jun 30, 2016 10:51 pm
As they continue down the tunnel, it occurs to Felor that some further study of the medicinal properties of the white mold might be in order. He notices that Shamush has positively crammed his pack full of the stuff so there should be no shortage of samples.
Quote:
"You don't reckon a magical sword like this might be a little more effective against the living dead, do you?"
Felor nods. "Aye, if the enchanted blade can cleave that accursed construct, it can surely sunder some rotting corpses. But make no mistake - it's nothing when compared to the might of Fjorgyn. Her holy might can smash even the most powerful ghoul. Indeed, one of her most enduring legends is that of Brother Galen-of-the-valley, who it is said battled an entire necromantic host using just a rock that Fjorgyn had blessed with her great strength..." Felor goes on to regale the party with legends of Fjorgyn's faithful from times past, continuing even if no-one's really listening.
OOC:
I think a magical weapon in mechanical terms is literally just a bonus to hit and to damage assuming it's a simply "+1" sword without any bonus effects.

OOC:
I don't think Leth has anything particular he wants to ask... Just a heads up though; i'll be out of town tomorrow and saturday.
