Volume 1: Calling Cards

"You're helping us see the light?" Tentacular quipped in response to Quantum Gal's plea to have them leave. "We told the Swan, and we're telling you we don't want to hurt anyone either, just get out of our way." This time Tentacular needed all four of his appendages, one to continue to stick to the wall, two to wrap around his downed teammates, and the fourth he used as if it were a bat and, taking a leaf from Terminal's earlier action, Tentacular attempted to swat the balls of light back at Quantum Girl.

Seeing that he managed to swat the orbs, he then flung the unconscious bodies of Riven and Electrolite at Quantum Girl!
OOC:
Using Brute Force to muscle through QG's attack, followed by his own attack using Habit: Do multiple things at the same time. Would Tentacular get two attacks for his Habit, and possibly have two instances to do damage (modified by +2 for standard superpower? Just adding a bunch of rolls first.)
(I realise I made the mistake of using the advantage die roll which actually crosses out a successful roll argh, sorry!)

Rolls

Power (Brute Force) + Flexible - (2d6H1)

(21) = 2

Attack (Brute Force) + Habit - (2d6H1, 2d6H1)

2d6H1 : (15) = 5

2d6H1 : (35) = 5

Damage - (1d6+2, 1d6+2)

1d6+2 : (3) + 2 = 5

1d6+2 : (4) + 2 = 6

OOC:
I'm going to stick with the 1,2,3d6 damage system. Since your allies are weapons, you do 2d6 damage :P
How are you holding the Black Swan? In your normal arms?
The light barrels back down the corridor and Quantum Gal turns around in surprise.

What the...

The lights and the caltrops dissipate.

Crap.

And she sees two unconscious supers flying at her.

CRAP!

Rolls

resist 1, 3+ disadvantage for surprise - (2d6)

(16) = 7

resist 2, 3+ - (1d6)

(5) = 5

2 extra d6 for possible Tentacular damage - (2d6)

(31) = 4

fall damage for EL, Riven - (1d6)

(4) = 4

OOC:
Oof. Shattered roll. Well that makes it easy.
ElectroLite slams into Quantum Gal, knocking her off her feet. Riven follows immediately, knocking the enemy out.

The hall is quiet, but your allies and your adversary are in bad shape.
OOC:
As in, by my hand-waving "fix the system" math, EL is 2 points from death and Riven is still unconscious. Quantum Gal can also be reasonably assumed dead if you leave her here. Now, I don't intend to kill anyone in episode 1 because this *is* supposed to be on the comedic side, but that's the frame of reference.
Jun 14, 2022 11:31 pm
am I also out? I only have 3 hp
Jun 14, 2022 11:45 pm
OOC:
You're good, actually. You should start with 6 now. So, shaken not stirred.
Jun 15, 2022 1:13 pm
OOC:
Oof I didn't think I'd be causing Electrolite and Riven damage as well :D.
"See, I could've tossed you instead." Tentacular gave Black Swan a good shake on the shoulders, as if to convince them of his sincerity. "Now I'm gonna let you check on flashy grrl there so she doesn't, I don't know, follow the light. Can you do that without my having to chase you down again?"

To the others, "Best attend to our teammates quickly, there's one more obstacle up ahead, so we've been told."
OOC:
Tentacular will attempt to stabilise Riven and Electrolite, possibly pulling them aside to a safer spot out of the way if there's one.

OOC:
Coolio. To heal, roll as you see fit (Head is a good baseline) and roll the die again for the amount you heal if you succeed. If you have an specific power or useful set of tools, heal 2 die.
Hwrank.

No, no, I quite understand your point.

The Black Swan waddles off to Quantum Gal. He meticulously examines her, applies pressure to one of the worst future-bruises, and smacks her across the face.

Guh! Ahhhhhhhgh.......Art? I thought they caught you.

Hwraaaaaaaaaaank.

Yep. You too. They don't pay me enough for this nonsense.

Heh. I guess I've never been able to be picky.

Hwrank. Hwra-ank.

Be picky. Just look at them.

"...Uh-huh. Pot, kettle?"

That said, Brigid checks up on her unconscious teammates. Though her suit was mainly designed for her own health, she could probably repurpose some of the medical bits to do something to help.
OOC:
How does healing work if I'm doing it on more than one person?

Rolls

Head > 4 - (2d6H1, 2d6)

2d6H1 : (45) = 5

2d6 : (44) = 8

Jun 16, 2022 2:07 pm
"They definitely don't pay you enough for this." Tentacular addressed Black Swan and Quantum Gal while Terminal attended to their own teammates. "If it's any consolation, it's two for two, so I figure we're even. I don't need murder on my rap sheet, so I'm gonna give you my number so you can call me next time and maybe work for the winning side, but for now just stay out of our way." Tentacular waited for them to agree and leave.
Jun 16, 2022 6:26 pm
OOC:
It's all one scenario of medical care, so I'll say that passes for both. If my math is correct Riven is up and EL is still wounded, but up as well. Nice call, Terminal
Quantum Gal takes off her goggles and rubs the super-smudges off.

That sounds good. Swan, you think we should at least make it look like we tried harder so the boss doesn't get mad?

He replies with a hand held to cut her off.

Hwrank, hwrank.

We're villains. Let's go.

And as soon as the strange encounters began, they're over. The building is eerily quiet now. Not even the sound of the HVAC system reaches you.
Jun 17, 2022 2:00 am
After the former defenders make their exit, Brigid yanks out the last of the wires from Electrolite's face, shoving them back into her power suit.

"Well, that's as good as it gets with what I got. Let's go."

She leads the way to the office.
Jun 17, 2022 9:36 am
Still slightly shaken from the attack dusts herself off and looks around. I dont like it. There could be something worse within
Jun 17, 2022 9:39 am
"There's one more of them, the Ox." No silly quip this time as Tentacular kept to the wall he suctioned himself to as they advanced.
Jun 17, 2022 4:46 pm
You make your way upstairs without incident. And, in fact, the office is open. You can see the safe off to the side, some large painting of a founder already moved out of the way. But in the dark gathering area of the second floor, you hear a

*click*

As electro-pop music begins to play.

Not gonna lie, I've been itching to use this playlist.

The voice's owner claps, and like a bad 80's commercial, a few strategically dimmed lights click on. You identify the outline of a retro boom box, and a ridiculously muscular man in what can only be described as a fur cape. Judging from his tight knee-length shorts and his horned luchador mask......well, frankly, going by "The Ox" was enough of an indicator he'd be a brute-force villain.

So you guys got a catch phrase? Fighting formation? I respect pre-fight theatrics.
Jun 18, 2022 4:58 am
Brigid flips the light switch, illuminating the office and completely ruining the effects of Ox's setup.

"What's the point of theatrics if nobody's watching?"
OOC:
Could I Follow My Heart to knock out Ox with a bullrush? I'm not quite sure how Follow My Heart works.
Jun 18, 2022 11:56 am
OOC:
Do iiiiiiiiiiiiit. I'll say your "cost" is your suit overheats and you'll need to sit out one narrative round after completing this.
So go ahead and roll Brute and any habits that apply. As long as the roll doesn't shatter it'll work, but we'll sort out details when we see the results.
Jun 18, 2022 1:46 pm
"Bullrush was it? Cowabunga? Leather Lactose?" Tentacular kept an eye on the safe to judge the distance between himself and the Ox, and wondered if the brute could move faster than he seemed versus his own multiple appendages. He instinctively reverted to his inane patter even as he saw his teammate make her move.
OOC:
I'll let Terminal resolve their action first before I declare mne? Essentially Tentacular will make a break for the safe.
Jun 18, 2022 4:28 pm
"How about bull-dozer!"

Brigid leaps forward and rams into the Ox's torso, sending him flying.

"Get it? Because I knocked him out."
OOC:
I almost regret doing that, because I have a lot of cow puns on hand.

Rolls

Brute Force <4 - (3d6L1)

(653) = 3

Jun 18, 2022 5:20 pm
Macavity smiles and strikes a fighting pose, ready to defend herself if necessary.
Jun 20, 2022 2:03 am
Hey, I worked hard on - HRK!

The Ox's offense at his underappreciated theatrics is cut short by Terminal's charge. He topples backwards and knocks his head on the boom box, clicking it off before it crashes to the floor next to him.

Looks like I underestimated......yoooOOOOooooou. He flashes a cheesy smile as he lows. Best move quick, though. This fight isn't over yet.

It certainly seems over. He's not making any moves to reengage.

Then again....

Maybe it's the bad nostalgia, or the smell of leather polish used far too plentifully, but you're starting to feel a little lightheaded.
OOC:
No rolls needed to break into the safe and take the files, but I will need rolls to keep thinking clearly. Brute Force is a good baseline to power through, but if you can justify something else go ahead. The Ox did take damage, but I'm keeping that behind the screen.
