A crit for me as well!

Keep Varla and Lorne safe! As the materialised next to their two friends, Hank knew he wasn't about to budge from his position until all the enemies surrounding them were neutralised. Eric and Bobby were face to face with One Hand and the mage, Diana had their other flank, which meant Hank decided he would cover the flank on his side. He quickly unleashed his arrows on the orc in front of him.
OOC:
Shooting the orc at H3. If for some happy reason it dies, Hank with redirect to the next target. Using Sharpshooter. Rolling for 4 attacks, for each attack that hits, the next attack will be at advantage, so I'll include advantage rolls for attacks 2 to 4. Each attack is 1d6+20 piercing plus 2d6 force plus 2d6 radiant.

"SMASH!!!" Thunder Club roared in Bobby's mind as it bashed the squishy human mage into red paste all over the back wall!

Eric raised his longsword and struck viciously, grievously wounding at the stunned orc commander!

Only two of Hank's four energy arrows hit but those two pack enough punch to down his orc target!

The extra crit radiant damage will be enough to slaughter the spellcaster. Bobby gets our first kill!
Roll your crit damage, Eric. I've redirected your attacks to Commander One-Hand.
COH is 2/3 dead and the orc soldier next to Diana is still fresh. What will Presto and Diana do?

Presto takes a few steps past Lorne, muttering something polite about bumping him.No reason to ignore my manners, after all. He glances over to Varla, starts to speak, and decides against it. There’s no doubt that he’s nervous about seeing her again and happy to find a reason to put it off for a few more minutes. Fortunately, fighting for their lives is a good excuse.

He moves to an open space and lightning crackles off his fingertips as he raises them towards a massive troll before a light, brighter than the sun could dream to be, roars through the doorway and towards the troll.

Meanwhile, the fire elemental flares into full view east of the group. Under a mental command from Presto, it spreads its seed as far and wide as it can, catching everything ablaze that it can possibly reach. The fire devours everything it touches, searing troll flesh, charring walls, and lighting the entire area with a blinding glare. It moves up a stairway to the north and stops at the end of the wall, devouring a mage in flame as it does so.

Seeing the fiery light, Presto is equal parts proud and horrified, but it was either them or his friends. He shoves the thought from his mind, bringing his thoughts back to the moment. "We should leave the leader alive! He might know something. See if you can’t knock him out cold, we can bring him back to the tower with us!"
OOC:
Presto casts Chain Lightning. @annex Dex save on the big troll at H7, DC 21. Three bolts leap off that troll and hit the big troll at D8, the mage at D13, and the mage at G13 (three targets within 30 ft). All three targets also need DC 21 Dex saves, again half damage if they save. I’ll roll once for lightning damage that gets applied to all of them (if that’s ok with you).

The fire elemental can enter other creatures spaces and do damage to anything it touches as well as lighting it on fire (Fire Form). It’s a large creature with 50 ft of movement, so it should be able to damage the little orc at G10, both big troll (G8 and D8), the orc at D10, head up the stairs, damage the orc at B12, then stop on top of the mage at D13. I’ll roll once for damage for the fire to be applied to all of them (if that’s ok with you), then they all take another 1d10 fire damage at the start of each of their turns unless someone takes an action to douse the fire.

Then the fire elemental does two touch attacks (melee weapon attacks) to the mage at D13.

Fortunately for Presto, unconscious Lorne didn't feel the bump, and neither was equally unconscious Varla able to make things awkward. Yet.

The venomous trolls sizzled and stunk as the wizard's lightning assailed them and the mages!
OOC:
Failed saves all around. 45 lightning damage each.
The fire elemental raged through the ranks, burning everything it touched! The mage managed to resist its first strike but the second fire fist connected! With chaos all around, it's sure to reach within the fort soon.
OOC:
7 fire damage to all touched and they're aflame. The mage takes 13 fire damage from the plasma punch. The trolls won't regenerate next round.

Sorry I'm late to the party. But here goes...
Diana has an unusual bout of disorientation from the teleport. Too long out of the game, I suppose. Fortunately, she recovers in time to engage the orc guard in front of her. She spins The Staff in an unnecessary display and then moves in to attack.
OOC:
Action: Attack the orc guard (I'm pretty sure that's an orc guard). Two attacks with The Staff followed by an unarmed kick.
Move: Diana will stay where she is if either the guard or one-hand are still up. Otherwise, she'll move next to Sheila.
So many dice rolls!

Focus, do not flaunt, The Staff thought to Diana as one of her strikes with it missed the mark. The orc guard was quite bloodied by the hits that did land but it still stood.

43 damage to the orc guard! He's not looking good!

Back to the top of the order! Hank is up first but Commander One-Hand is right after him. What will The Ranger do? Kill? Knock unconscious?

Moved.

Presto was right about capturing the leader; they certainly wanted more information, and well, two could play at the kidnapping game. Over the years, Hank knew more and more how the Bow worked. It responded to his mental commands, no, not quite mental, but more instinctual. It was smart enough to know what Hank needed each time he nocked it, and supplied the perfect solution for the situation. This time the magical glowing bolt began to form, and as Hank fired it, it extended itself near the target to become a longer and longer 'rope' of energy, coiling around the one-handed commander. Enough to hold him, not kill him. He communicated with his Bow to moderate the amount of hurt the arrow could impose: sometimes Hank used the arrows to bind or hold, or even cushion and save, and not just attack.
OOC:
Going to keep firing up to four attacks until Hank lands a hit. That hit will be Grasping Arrow Arcane Shot. Hank will stop attacks after that so as not to kill the commander.
[ +- ] Grasping Arrow
OOC:
Edit, assuming 25 is a hit. There's a potential 41hp damage there, but shall we say the bow can be instructed to moderate the damage so as not to kill the commander? Somewhat like the non-lethal damage rule?
"Stop right there and put down your weapon, or it'll hurt, and my next arrows won't be as kind." To emphasise his point, Hank fired the rest of his arrows at the remaining orc guard without even looking at them.

Hank's first arrow surrounded Commander One-Hand in barbed wire, leaving him within an inch of his life.
OOC:
1 HP.
The last guard wasn't so lucky as light and force obliterated him so completely that Hank can feel Thunder Club's approval through The Bow.
OOC:
Red paste. Can't wait for you all to unload this firepower on the bigger bads.
Commander One-Hand grunted and dropped his greataxe which, when it hit the floor, erupted in a wave of cerise energy which washed seemingly harmlessly over everyone in the room!
OOC:
Arcana to try and identify the effect, please. I'll have the orcs and trolls outside act after that.
May 2, 2022 1:58 am
Hank did not expect that to happen, although either way that greataxe would've hit the ground. What was it?

Rolls

Arcana - (1d20+5)

"If I will die here, human heroes, then you will stay and die here, too!" Commander One-Hand spat in Common.
