"Do you have a physical description of the man we are looking for? Also in which section of the mine was he working? I assume there are many galeries below." Xarakas asks the foreman while taking the lantern although he keeps it unlit for now.

He is two days without food and water? What are we even waiting for? Sadur boldly runs toward entrance, but stops. No, he don't return for the candle-lantern. He only checks his waterskin and add, talking mostly to himself (as you may have seen him doing quite often): Just one man, this should be enough and off he goes into the entrance.
Only once in the darkness of the shaft he slows down. Hmm, I need to wait others. Who know how will the man react seeing a half orc in the darkness...
Jul 21, 2022 3:16 pm
"Any other hazards we should know about?" Says Leon, "How about a map?"
Jul 21, 2022 5:08 pm
Jasper says as he starts to pursue Sadur, "Its a mine." He keeps his candle-lantern handy and reinforces it with a light cantrip. He has that and his trusty quarterstaff handy.
Jul 21, 2022 7:07 pm
"He is a human, blonde hair, brown eyes, about yay tall. Should be in overalls and had his own lantern. Good man… good miner. He was scheduled only for Shaft 7, there are a few forks however they should not link to any other tunnels. It is a stable shaft, just don’t go breaking the posts."
OOC:
no map, and he thinks fire and collapse are the real dangers of the mines... nothing else he knows of
Jul 22, 2022 12:21 am
"We will do what we can. Well everyone let find this guy, without water he doesn't have much time."
Jul 22, 2022 2:08 pm
OOC:
Jasper has Light cantrip, does anyone take a lit lantern?
With the gloom ahead your remaining guide, the Foreman and the soldiers watched with slight trepidation, as the adventurers moved down the slope into Shaft 7. The main tunnel has several shallow branching tunnels that are easily checked and cleared. The descent was too difficult to retain a sense of measurement and the sounds of the rest of the active miners above had become a murmuring before falling away entirely, leaving the party in a claustrophobic silence.

As the main shaft reaches a markedly sharper slope, the party first sees a lunchbox set on a short and level cut in the wall, where a miner's lunchbox sits, knocked over and emptied of its contents. You all hear a sound.

OOC:
1 is enough for me
The sound is like something metal tapping, or scratching, faintly against a stone. It was only a moment of silence that you heard it at all, and then it stops.

Sixty feet ahead of you there is a sharp incline with a ten-foot ladder there for use and seemed like the obvious path. However, with Jasper’s superior light source as aid, the mage and some others perhaps, notice a gap in the rock above them as they walked. It is just out of reach and is hard to see unless you stop in one spot to look.

OOC:
Ups. Rolled perception before saw DM's comment 1 is enough.
Sadur moves forward to check the lunchbox, ignoring anything else for now. He remember human mentioned lunchbox... That's basically all he remembers :)

Jasper says as he sees Sadur with the lunchbox, Might want to take that with us. He might be needing it again.
Jul 22, 2022 10:28 pm
Leon takes out a hammer and begins to hit it against a stone,

"Maybe that tapping was a call for help, Im going to see if I can get a response"

Leon listens carfully for return taps.

OOC:
Jasper has spotted a crawlspace above you, in the tunnel. Large enough for Sadur to squeeze through if you can get up there. It seem suspicious because no miner would have dug there.
Jul 23, 2022 4:07 am
Jasper motions to the crawlspace above, Perhaps something might have taken the miner up there?
Jul 23, 2022 5:32 am
Let's go back ask for some ladders. Miners should have plenty of them, shouldn't they?
OOC:
By the way, how high is it? I expected tunnel to be barely human-sized
[ +- ] tunnel
Please let me know if it seems reasonable that a ladder would be required/sufficient. Maybe it is enough to simply do a high jump? 5e Jump calculator suggests with running start Sadur can do high jump to reach up and grab something 15 feet off the ground, would that be enough?

OOC:
The tunnel is not square, but is around 8 feet tall. The crawlspace is around 5 feet space

I described a 10-foot ladder placed down the tunnel around 60 feet from you.

You may choose to climb or use a tool...
roll Athletics or Str, or get a tool to use.

Jul 23, 2022 4:14 pm
We passed a ladder. Lets get it. Much easier than climbing up there. Jasper moves off to get the ladder.
Jul 23, 2022 5:27 pm
"No one should be doing anything alone down here, wait up!"

Leon follows Jasper and helps him bring the ladder back
Jul 24, 2022 12:57 am
Xarakas stands near the ceiling gap and while Jasper and Leon fetch the ladder he examine the crawlspace from under trying to determine how it came to be.
OOC:
He is looking to see if the crawlspace was made using pickaxe and such or if had been done by other means

Orobu sent a note to GeneralET
Jasper and Leon return with the light and the ladder and set it up easily enough, but before you decide who is going first the group all here the sound again, and clank or hollow metal echoing out from the crawlspace.
OOC:
It'll be single file through the small tunnel. What order are you in?
