Leons eyes widen and he jerks back reflexively, "We need to get this man out of here now if he’s to have a chance! That insect is using him as a host for its maggot."

"Stay alert and someone grab a piece of that thing on the way out, we might need a sample to identify exactly what we are dealing with"

Jasper keeps his light going. Okay lets get going fast.

Jasper not to great with the situation but is keeping calm and collective. Nothing here really bothers him a lot. His knowledge medicine is rather limited and not of any use here. Obviously, his carpenter skills don't seem to matter much. Just keeping the light going seems to be best.

Meanwhile Sadur is going round and round checking the walls whispering never just one
He stops hearing Jasper's "let's go" .
Right. Man. Get out. He is going to grab man and try to carry him out

After checking the area to remove the lost miner and down the ladder, returning to the shaft. He remains deadweight yet easy enough to move, since he does not have anything broken or bleeding. Returning to the surface the guards scurry to action getting the path out of the mine cleared and a stretcher called from a nearby office.

As the workmen take the miner, the nighttime Watch Captain step forward to speak with you, smiling and gesturing with awe. "You have done well! We were certain he was buried or fallen down a crevasse further in. The Mayor will be pleased, he is eager to get the shaft back open… isn’t that right Foreman?"

The Foreman nods exhaustedly. "Yes but the Commander has set his foot down… Adventurers, what happened, is the mine save fore workers?"
OOC:
What do you want to do?
Jul 27, 2022 3:02 am
Jasper takes the lead in the conversation, "We have only done what the Mayor requested. Now should you want us to check the mine for more possible problems then we need to talk to the Mayor about such. I should hope you understand."
Jul 27, 2022 11:17 am
"The safety of the mine is undetermined," Interjects Leon "What we know for sure is that Darol was attacked by some sort of insect creature and is going to need immediate medical attention if there is to be any chance of saving him. If he has a family, you should inform them."

Leon leads the foreman over to Darol and puts his hand on his belly, "We need to get this out of him, anything you can tell me about what we might have seen will be helpful"

Leon gives a description of the insect, the acid etched tunnel and his diagnosis of Darol.

We did not check whole mine. Our task were to make sure it is safe. Let's go back in to check the rest of it.
Jul 27, 2022 3:21 pm
Leon nods in agreement, "Yes Sadur I agree, but let’s take a minute to see if the foreman here can give us any more information based what we have already discovered. You took a pretty hard hit down there by the way. How are you feeling?
Jul 27, 2022 6:18 pm
OOC:
I don't think Sadur took any damage.
The Foreman is focused upon his man, "I am not sure off hand, we have some nasty native beasties, but I know someone who might be able to identify it. We will take him to the Temple, it is close and the Priestess can assist but we’ll need to call the Doctor... maybe someone can find Doctor Leam?" They start to move, taking Darol with them on the stretcher.

Your answers seem to displease the Watch-Captian, stating coldly, "If you are unsure the mine is safe, then the job is not completed."
Jul 27, 2022 6:37 pm
Well I guess we don't need to bother the Mayor with minor details and we will be getting back in there checking. as he notes that the miner is by looks in good hands.
Jul 27, 2022 6:48 pm
"Sorry Sadur, I misspoke, there is just so much on my mind I simply lost track for moment, I see you are quite well."

"My friends there is no need to rush back into the mine. It’s not going anywhere and I did not recall the mayor offering a bonus for time. Take this short reprieve and use it to plan. A mission without planning is a doomed mission"

"Sir, I am a certified Physicker and I can help with Darol. In lieu of a full medical suite, the assistance of clerics will increase his odds significantly."
Jul 27, 2022 7:03 pm
I am pretty sure I signed to ensure miners safety. I could check it my own.

Sadur takes a lantern and moves back into the mine to check any paths untreveled yet. Double checking for more holes.
OOC:
I assume this mean my PC is missing anything that happened to victim but this toleplay seems most reasonable to me
Jul 27, 2022 7:26 pm
"Very well, stay safe and I will rejoin you as soon as I am able"
Jul 27, 2022 9:47 pm
Temples were not exactly his thing and most of the time he wasn't even admitted in... So as the miner is moved to safety Xarakas follows Sadur torwards the mine. "I'll come with you if you don't mind two pairs of eyes are better than one."
Jul 27, 2022 9:56 pm
Jasper considers the situation and heads out with Sadur as well.
Jul 27, 2022 10:23 pm
OOC:
Alright crew, you are going to check out the mines and do a thorough sweep?
[Perception checks]
Jul 28, 2022 5:08 am
Sadur carefully check all the walls this time poking them with a javelin as required. He do not hurry. He want to be certain there are no more threats.
OOC:
At least for now.

Jasper, Sadur, and Xarakas take the next hour slowly walking the mine, searching for more holes or other possible signs of more insects. This mine is relatively simple, and by the time you reach the end of the last branch, you can be reasonably sure that you have not seen other disturbances in this area. Your knowledge regarding the creature or its burrowing abilities is limited, but you see no other bugs or holes and are unaware of any other missing miners. As you return to the number seven entrance, you'll note the Watch-Captain has left a guard in his place.

Leon explains,
This man was attacked by some sort of an insect that is using him as a host for its maggot or maggots. If we can purge the maggot, I would expect a full recovery. However, if we cannot his death will be agonizing being consumed from the inside out.

Since we don’t have any idea on the gestation period, I can’t say for sure how much time he has. What I do know it that he has been gone for 2 days and already you can feel the things inside him. At this rate I would give him another 2 days at most, but in all honesty, it could be at any time. There is just so much we do not know.

There are a couple ways we can handle this. With the right antiparasitic herbs I may be able to make something that when combined with a simple laxative will purge the maggot. The key word here is the RIGHT herbs. I don’t know what we are dealing with and would have to make an educated guess.

The second option would be surgery. Given his already weakened state though, that just might kill him, but I still think that is his best chance.

Do you have an herbalist? We would first need to prepare a strong sedative. Like a calming tea but much more potent. The preparation will have to be just right, based on his weight and constitution. If it is not strong enough Davon will suffer needlessly and make the surgery even more difficult, too strong and it could stop his heart or breathing. With any luck the tea will also sedate the maggot inside. For this type of surgery, we would recommend you use a concentrated tincture of XYZ, that usually does the trick. If you have the herbs, I can help you with the preparation.

Once Davon is sedated, I will begin the operation. I will need your assistance to repair any damage that we come across. Bleeding is my biggest concern. With deep surgery there is an increased risk of nicking a vital vessel or organ. Normally we keep a strong healing draught at hand along with swabs. If there is an errant nick a quick dip and swab is all that is needed to affect a repair We call that a "DS". If I call for a DS you will know what I mean. For much more serious trauma, we prefer to have cleric on standby as well.

Once we are inside, I will need extra hands to hold open the wound so that I can determine exactly where the maggot gestates. I will remove it as quickly as possible, then begin closing up Davon. I will need your help there as well. As weak as he is, the less trauma he is left with the better. Use your blessing to knit the major wounds and I will stitch the rest. We will have to wary of infection. That kills more men than arrows. We will monitor his progress, watch for fever or any other changes.

Post operative care should be fairly straight forward. I recommend rest and clear broth for the next few days along with a strong parasitic purgative such as wyrmwood.

One other thing, I am without my full medical kit, unfortunately it was lost on my journey here. If you are able to procure XYZ, along with the sharpest knife or razor you can find I should be able to perform.
