You have two actions

Mental damage means it hurt, no impact on actions.

Stunned X means you lose X actions. Since it is 1 you have 3-1=2 actions

Use diplomacy to convince the ladies to help hide you

Lessor sons going off on an adventure to prove themselves is common in Bevory, Octavius will be welcome here. For the actually formalities and mannerisms, these are tied up in the Lore Heraldry and Society skill, I'll say Octavius will have an advantage on his home turf, take a plus +2 to these rolls.

You can attempt to name drop you family or even pull rank on a minor noble. It might backfire though, Bevory has alot of infighting, so it depends alot on how your and the other noble houses get along. Octavius will is pretty sure his house get along with the Aldori

Ok, digging through Roman names I've figured my family name is Poplicola, but for the mean time I've taken the last name of Metallus [Octavius Poplicola Metallus] in case I'm a failure and need to have a bit of distance from my family to protect the name. I still bear a modified family crest, with the upper right quarter bearing a spear over a coin.

What part of the world should I specifically be from. Rostland is a bit far from Taldor, but the wiki seems to indicate that Taldans are all over the place. It also indicates that Taldans are dicks, but I'm going with My Family is Provincial as All Fuck and Not Dicks to the Locals.

Also I'll lean into the whole naming thing and be the 8th child of my family.

Taldor is modelled of medieval Byzantium. A quick history Byzantium is that they had a habit of screwing other nations with complex elaborate treaties and betrayal. They were the Roman Empire I there minds. Taldor is probably a little more honourable then the Byzantine, they send knights and paladins out on crusaders all the time, that makes them the good guys right. Taldorians are definitely more arrogant, being the inheritors to the mighty Atlanteans

Yes you could you have 25ft or can move 5 squares per action.

Note: in pathfinder every 2nd diagonal counts as 10ft, but you can still make it.

Let me tell you about another game that I played. It was a homebrew game based on a fictional version of 10th-BC century Gaul. The GM had a vague magic system based on religion, belief, and appeasing the gods, like with real life. When the game finished it was revealed that the magic system had no mechanical effect, also like with real life.

However the magic was REAL, and could be seen in the dice. As players we adamantly embraced magic system. It was noticed that when our characters ignored the magic system our dice rolled poorly. However we properly done the rituals and sacrificed the right object/animal we did miracle rolls.

So, remember. Believe in the dice and dice will believe in you.

Before I moved to PG, my gaming group banned me from touching dice when I was rolling stats. They would roll for me. My dice, their dice made no difference. If I touched the dice, I would be significantly lower. Like 25% lower. We played Rolemaster, which uses d100 for everything, so the results were pretty clear and pretty awful.

You would be the leader and responsible for party management.

Though the NPCs could bring in resources to the group if directed to do so.

I'll say right now, the 4 recruited NPC could add 25+1d6gp to the group from their loot/reward.

On NPCs

Right now you have 4 NPCs in your group. They will more or less follow your lead, as long as it is inline with the NPCs character. Eg you would have difficulty having some like Linzi defend a point against a goblin horde, however someone like Valerie would do it without thought.

Stuff you can do with them
-Assign them tasks (eg stay here and guard the camp)
-Have them go earn income or bring in resources
-Send them on missions
-Bring along on an adventures and fights

If you are not role playing pathfinder has some systems for intelligence activities. This typical is gathering/setting rumours, finding information, research, but could involve engaging criminal or spy networks.

For most part of you are not in a time sensitive situation you can preform a gather information by describing the activities you want your character to take and rolling on the appropriate skill. Eg "I go to the tavern a listen to rumours of the attack last night" skill diplomacy.

Now you can engage help with either a fixer type

Alright, Octavius spends the day preparing for the ambush. Unfortunately a cart falls on him and it takes a few hours to get him out. He is relatively ok. Later in the evening he his able to organize the ambush nicely

So….

I’m going to implement a new rule. Players have 72hrs to post, in response to a scene, roll request, combat turn, etc. After that the character temporarily an NPC.

Thoughts? Too long? Too short?

[Then you should be at 13. You blocked that arrow before. So you'll have 7 damage from the bandits mopping you.

Also, shouldn't your max HP be 28? your level 2 now, correct?

Summon Construct would be the spell for that. There is an "Animated Trebuchet" at higher levels of the spell, but I could be make accommodations for non-animated siege constructs

Restov in Brevoy is the place you want to go to get the support to start a 'kingdom'. Lady Jamandi Aldori and her backers in Rostland (the southern half of Brevoy) will provide a charter and the initial resources to found a nation.

As we are getting close, I have some questions for the group.

1st, how deep into the mechanics do you want to go. A 'kingdom' basically runs like another character that everyone has input. We can run it like a background feature, or with everyone managing the 'kingdom' fully. A hybrid where everyone make the major decisions and the NPCs manage the details works too.

2nd, what do you want your 'kingdom' to look like. Do you want militaristic dictatorship? A free republic? A mage haven?

3rd, do you want to scout around a bit more or start the process of founding (ie build a village and claim a hex). Right now you have two locations that would be a good starting point. Oleg's Trading post which would give your first village a free trading post, and the staglord's fort which would give a free town hall to govern from.

I am personally leaning towards the fort as, it is beside a lake that connects to a large number of rivers for trade as well as fresh water, it is defenceable and the forest provides a lot of building supplies and while 60 miles is a ways we passed several bridges on the way that would allow a road to bypass the forest ( providing we scout the areas and it is feasible)

The fort has more advantages than Oleg's, thought the local zombie population and displeased forest spirits concern me. And possibly more building supplies from the woods, but again, the spirits.
As I see it, low risk, low resources at Oleg's. High risk, high resources at the fort

Both Oleg and Svetlana fled respectable lives in large city to be together and set up shop in a middle of nowhere fort in the wilds that borders on backwater territory. They aren't the keenest on nation building, however understand that it will bring safety and wealth.

Note some of those bridges are fords, as 'river ford' map icons don't really exist. Still allows crossing of the river easily.

-Baron Hannis Drelev led a large group of diplomats and high-ranking soldiers in the Hooktongue Slough to ensure trade along the East Sellen River remains open
-Maegar Varn was sent to the Nomen Heights to deal with the Nomen centaurs
-The Iron Wraiths were sent to the north to deal with the Tiger Lords (Mammoth riding barbarians)

I'm now supporting refurbishing the Fort, so long as the locals are ok with it [zombies and forest spirits]. Good location for trade, keeps us and any problems we attract away from Oleg and Svetlana, and as said above, better for defence against any rivals.

I am reminded that I have written a letter to Maegar Varn, how should I post that here. I intend to keep some correspondence with others.

I don't think we need anything more complex than a discussion here. Also, I recently tried some video/audio call stuff and it was glitchy, laggy and complete hell. Probably due to my low bandwidth. Also having the discussion here will help if we need to reference back to something.

In the mean time, I need to read the rules so I can understand how this works.

Also, currently the characters are in a fortress full of dead bandits.
Over the weekend Jen suggest a coarse of action such as:
1. Properly clear the fort and lay the dead to rest
2. Place the NPC to guard the fort from rivals and other bandits
3. Travel back to Restov (Through Oleg's) to secure rewards and resources for kingdom founding
4. ?

Octavius is best suited for General. He has been trained in warfare, after all. Rulership is uncomfortable but someone has to be and Octavius is a noble, or at least born legitimately to noble parents.

The hardest thing for us to have will be a trustworthy leadership for when we are not at home.
The other question is where do our NPCs fit in.

For the NPCs,
Linzi would seek Counselor so she have make the new nation a cultural center in the River Kingdoms. Similar to her hometown, Pitax, but without the rampant corruption

Jeathal would seek Emissary as she is used to working in the shadows. She was a prominent judge in the great elven nation of Kyonin before they exiled her for engaging in necromancy.

Harrim seeks to drink beer at a tavern until the inevitable end of all things. Generally he is calm and level-headed, surprisingly good at making well-considered decisions. Harrim would be good in any non people facing roles, such as Viceroy or Treasurer

Valerie is too humble to suggest a role, despite being a natural born leader, who can inspire and rally people. Originally of noble birth, Valerie has rejected the path to lady in high society and a paladin of Shelyn. Although, she still knows how to behave in aristocratic circles and how to save face in conflict situations. Valerie would be good in people facing or martial roles such as Warden, or Counselor

In the Golorian slavery is illegal in most nations and civilization, such as Brevoy where your backers are. Notable exceptions the are the Tyrant Razmiran and key 'cities' in Numeria. Law is sometimes optional, especially in the River Kingdoms which is know for for lawlessness, and bandit fiefdoms.
