Aldar attempts to keep up with those that are fleeing while also keeping an eye on his owl. Having his familiar grab the wand risks both their lives. He hopes the prize is worth it.

Aldar's familiar swoops down to pluck the wand from the edge of the crevasse before it falls in! As everybody else flees as fast as they can, Kip stands defiantly before the titanic tentacled terror, taunting it!

The monster responds with a critical hit! Luckily, Kip's weapon takes the brunt of the blow, the tentacle sundering her axe and battering the dwarf! Kip fends off its other tentacles.

The walls of eyes continue to move to pursue you, firing energy beams! Both Aldar's familiar and Honey are struck by crackling black beams of death magic! One beam flies towards Kip, but the mirror shield deflects it away from her!
OOC:
Kip takes 2 damage and her weapon is destroyed. The owl takes 3 damage and Honey takes 10 damage; each can attempt a DC 15 Will save for half damage. Everybody may act!

PC Positions:Kip and the owl are both next to the crevasse, 145 feet from the exit. Hyde is 85 feet from the exit. Honey is 75 feet from the exit. Aislynn is 55 feet from the exit. Aldar and Brother Tim are 40 feet from the exit!.

Aldar's familiar falters as it is struck by the attack, but recovers quickly. Aldar gives another sharp whistle. "To me!" he shouts. Then both he and the owl move as fast as they can towards the exit.

Honey pauses to heal herself before continuing to push the wheelbarrow. Everybody else runs for their lives! Aldar and Brother Tim make it out of the chamber, while Hyde surpasses Honey. Kip struggles to get away, but she is still in the reach of the massive tentacles!

Unfortunately, those tentacles all converge on the dwarf, bashing and slamming her again and again! Kip goes down!

The eyes on the wall fire more beams of energy! Both Aldar's familiar and Hyde are hit by rays of frost, while Honey is hit by a ray that fills her mind with fear! Aislynn is hit by a ray that threatens to transform her body!

11 damage to Kip, which I believe will take her down. 3 damage to the owl familiar, 1 damage to Hyde. Honey must succeed at a DC 15 Will save or be filled with fear and do nothing but run away for 1d6 rounds. Aislynn must attempt a DC 15 Fortitude save or be polymorphed into a mouse for 1d3 hours!

PC Positions: Kip is down and dying 105 feet from the exit. The owl is 85 feet from the exit. Honey is 60 feet from the exit. Hyde is 55 feet from the exit. Aislynn is 25 feet from the exit. Aldar and Brother Tim have escaped!

Nothing in Sister Honey’s history qualifies her as a hero, but something about Kip has wormed its way into her soul. The cleric knows that she can only heal the dwarf if she has her near. She quickly empties the treasure from the wheelbarrow and charges with it to collect Kip’s body. She chants the protection spell as she does.

No, the highest you can possibly roll on the spell right now only gives you a 20’ radius of protection. Both are much further than that.

Brother Tim looks back at Honey and Kip and says with frustration in his voice "There’s nothing I can do!" and continues to flee staying close to Hyde or Aislynn knowing that fleeing alone will most certainly cause him harm.

"Go, go!" Aldar shouts to his woimded familiar. "Get to a safe spot and stay with the others." Aldar looks at Honey trying to help Kip. He wonders what the Elf King would want - if the Elf King had become Aldar's patron. A servant of the Blue Lady and a dwarf. Probably not high on the Elf King's list of people to save.

But the Elf King had rejected Aldar's request. And Aldar... he couldn't describe it. Was it guilt? Did he care for these two? For whatever reason, Aldar decided he had not become an adventurer to be timid.

"I hope this wworks," Aldar mumbled to himself. Then he began to chant.

Aldar is going to attempt to cast Feather Fall, not because the spell is useful, but his mercurial magic effect is "Planar Blink", which would add 4 to his AC. It also has a 1% chance of getting him lost in the planes, but no guts, no glory, right?

If the spell succeeds, he will run back to help Honey get Kip in the wheel barrow. If it fails... he'll head for the exit.

Edited to add: Crit fail! Now I gotta go figure out what that means...

Making a new post to resolve this epic fail instead of editing the previous one.

Egads! So much bad luck. Corruption! Roll a d5.

And... I'm not making anymore rolls.

Result: caster's hair stands on end as if permanently plummeting through the air.

That'll teach me for trying to be heroic in DCC
Aldar finished his chant, but something goes wrong. All of his hair - which recently grew due to his magic missile side effects - flies up as if a wind were blowing from his feet. No blinking happens. Hiding his face behind his now upward flowing beard, Aldar turns and flees with the others.

Hyde turns and bolts after Honey to save the dwarf. When he reaches Kip he heaves her into the wheelbarrow then grabs the mirrored shield and tries to cover Honey and himself as they dash for the exit...
