Artesia and Grom can see a few details on the map. First you notice a few scratches shaped like mastodons where your following is currently located. There is a small symbol that could look like the creature guarding the area right in the center of the map which would make it the barrow. To the northwest you see scratches of a cave with a box in it.

To the north, beyond the terrain you see a little scowling face with large ears. And to the northwest beyond the terrain map you see several curved lines that resemble spreading flames.

Artesia is also able to tell that the apaku enhances divination magic. When a creature casts a divination spell within 100 feet of the stone, you figure the stone will turn briefly transparent, like a crystal ball, and the caster should learn a single, enigmatic word connected to the caster’s fate or the spell’s target’s fate (caster’s choice) within the next day.

As Koram and Haitih move the slab out of the way two shapes are revealed inside. At first sight Koram is sure it is two dead bodies, but with slow staggered movement they start shambling towards the entrance. One of them opens its mouth and a gravely and high pitched voice speaks. "Leave this place if you value your life!"

The creatures seems to stop and end their movement some 15 feet from the entrance, waiting to see if what you do.

Koram backs away and looks to the others. "We have no right to intrude on this creature's home. I would not attack it when it acts only in defense and gives fair warning."

"Aye, Koram, let's be on our way, then", Grom agrees and steps backwards slowly

"We'll leave you be," Koram says to the creature, "We had no intent on disturbing your home." He bows his head and backs some distance before deciding it best to leave and continue their exploration.

The creatures fall back as you back off. "Thanks. There has been enough death," one of them mutters in reply. "We would be eternally grateful if you could seal the barrow so we would have peace."
Apr 5, 2024 12:19 am
Koram nods in agreement. "Of course. Haitith, help me seal this up." He looks to the others for their assistance as well before moving to do so.

Artesia helps as much as she is able.

You are able to quickly seal the entrance back up. Do you want to explore the area more, or is it time to move on?
Apr 5, 2024 6:02 pm
Wishing to leave the large animal and barrow inhabitants peacefully behind, Koram suggests we leave and continue our trek and exploration of these wild lands.

Panuaku
That evening as you set down to rest, you suddenly hear a voice near the camp. "You need to pay better attention," a jolly voice says and as you reach for your weapons you see it is Panuaku. "I could get close enough like a tick on musk ox' ass."

She laughs at your reaction, seemingly oblivious that she could have gotten an arrow for her troubles.

"Panuaku! You startled me. Did you find us so easy to track? I had thought we may have done a fair job of concealing our travel."

Panuaku
"You cannot hide from me," the experienced hunter says with a smile. "Now will you share in your catch while I bring you a message from my sister?"

Without waiting for a reply she sits down next to the campfire to inspect the stew that's being prepared.

"Of course," Koram says, "you are always welcome by our fire. What message do you bring?" He hands Panuaku a bowl and spoon in preparation for the meal.

Panuaku
Panuaku smiles at you and takes a moment just warming herself before she speaks. "A glyptodon has started following the herd," she finally says. It dawns on you, that the strange creature that guarded the standing stones is a glyptodon. "It is keeping a distance, but is hard to not notice a small mountain trailing after us. It's doing a worse job than you in staying hidden."
Apr 8, 2024 8:49 am
"Following the herd? We ran into such a creature a couple days ago. I wonder if its the same one, and why it would have left its home to do so. Do you think it will cause any problems?"

Panuaku
Panuaku shrugs. "For now it seems to hold its distance. My sister assumed you had something to do with it," she answers. "At least Imek is quite excited and want to add it to the herd."
Apr 8, 2024 7:45 pm
Koram laughs, "Of course Imek would be excited. I suppose such a creature might prove a good protector of the herd, should it come under attack. I certainly did not desire to tangle with it." He leans over the pot of stew, "Ah, I think its ready." He motions for Panuaku's bowl and fills it, then offers the same to his companions.
