I have a D&D 5e game that I need to make sure I am prepared for this weekend. I will look to start chapter 2 either Sunday night or Monday.

I encourage you all to use this time to get to know each others' characters and see any fun ways to connect them.

I never added rewards for our last chapter. Can someone remind us how much money we each got?

Head's up: I'm traveling home from holiday break tomorrow, so I may not be able to post until Tuesday.

I think I never said what that was. Looking at the adventure, it doesn't say. The book says that at level 1, you should receive roughly 100 gold per full heal up. Seeing as how a level involves 3 or 4 full heal ups normally, i'll use the lower end and say you get 300 gold each for saving the tower, though normally you won't get that much from 1 person. In the future, the gold is supposed to be the results of treasure or things you find and sell off monsters and such.

Ironmonger, I'm ready to go except for spending my cash. Just so I'm clear, how much of what I'd consider "starting adventurer gear" do we have already, and how much do you want us to purchase with this reward?

For instance, can we assume our characters already have flint & tinder, money pouch, travel pack, rain cloak, sleeping roll, and waterskin? What about "simple clothing"? Rope? A tent? Torches?

Just want to know how many of these basics I need to buy before I can spend on the fun stuff.

[ +- ] paladin gear
Above is that a level 1 paladin gets gear wise. It sounds like you got your armor and weapons shield, and anything else a background you choose would demand you have (like a noble having a ring with their house on it). You would then use the gold (either 25 or 1d6x10) to buy anything else.

The above numbers are paladin specific. For other classes see what your class gets for gear.

Just want to make sure. I made a GM Private Notes sub forum. I want to make sure no one can see it or any of the threads in it

I can't see the private forum, so I think you're good.

Gotcha on the gear.

Servant to an Aristocratic Family: Money pouch, wool blanket, candle, good clothing, common lantern, lantern oil (4 hrs), small mirror.

Hell-bent Mother: (This represents Makasi's itinerate quest to find her kids, so mostly travel gear) Flint and tinder box, pack, sleeping roll, waterskin, simple clothing, rain cloak, small tent.

Trained by the Village Ancestors: glass flask (for libations), holy symbol (adventurer).

Buying now:

75 sp - Road rations (15 days)
5 sp - Lantern oil (+20 hours)
50 gp - Healing potion
200 gp - Oil x 2

Total: 330

I think that looks good. I think you would have no gold after that, which should be ok

I have moved the threads that I was using for reference material that players could not post in to a GM Public Notes subforum so the main threads that everyone could post in were not cluttered with threads only I posted in

Once Ylliane takes her turn then I'll have the Ankheg act

Just a heads up: I'll try to remain active, but my wife is getting induced for our first kid tomorrow and the process starts tonight, so I can't promise i'll be available much before weekends end, but i'm taking 2 weeks off of work so after we get back home it shouldn't be too hard to post at least once or so per day.

Huge congrats on the new arrival! Glad to hear that you'll have a bit of time off to help with the new arrival. Prioritize your wife's comfort and your newborn's needs, for sure. You'll likely find the new responsibilities only grow in the first few months, but it's worth it.

I just went back to work full-time after my son was born end of November, so I know where you're at. Focus on the important stuff first; if you don't make your posting goals, that's okay.

Take your time. And congratulations.

Congrats on the Mini-Monger!

It is Ylliane's turn, then 3 enemies, then Makasi and Hrafe get to go
Feb 3, 2024 2:33 pm
Just a heads up, if Ylliane just not act by tomorrow, I will just make her do a simple ranged attack against an elf

I'm sorry, I tried to have someone get in touch with you @Ironmonger42, but I didn't remember you had a number after your name, so they may not have been able to. I have a series of emergencies last week including a car accident, the flu hitting the house, and then the new car we got falling apart as soon as we drove it home, so I didn't have time to even get online really. I want to say that I should be fine from here on out, but I think if I do, something else will happen, so I'll just leave it at: I'm back.
