OOC:
I see 3 votes for go down.
As you all go through the door the same way Hrafe did, you find yourself in a large rectangular room. There is a brasier in the north west corner with the same eerie green glow the others have had. On the wall across from you (south) is a door that appears, by the map, lead to a hallway that connects 3 other similar rooms and the location you would have landed if you had jumped down. Next to you (east) is a door that, by the map, leads to a triangular room. You hear moaning, like that of undead.
OOC:
Based on the fact that you guys elected to come through the door, I guess you would want to go fight the undead in what looks like the last room of the dungeon. I'll give until noon tomorrow for anyone to say what they do before going in there, unless someone proposes some other course fo action.

"Let's see what's in these other small rooms before we take on... whatever that is," Makasi suggests.
OOC:
I'd like to poke our heads in Rooms 20, 21, 22, and 24 before we go into 25a.

Here is what you find in the rooms:
- 21: there appears to be an inanimate magic circle on the floor
- 22: Empty aside from door similar to the one you just used. Seeing as you know only 1 command code, it is up to you if you try if it works again or not, or if this one uses a different one.
- 23: Empty, though moaning from the east like from undead
- 24: same as 23

Hrafe tries the command word in room 22.
Jul 22, 2024 10:04 pm
The door bursts with energy and them slams shut.

"So that's a bust," Edgar says. "Good thing you withstood the blast."

"Shall we deal with the undead?" he asks the rest of the group.

As you open the door, you find a wight performing some ritual on an alter. Between you and him are multiple zombies. The wight turns around and says, "I don't remember calling for the gnome yet. Who are you? You seem like intruders who need to be dealt with. Zombies, attack!"
OOC:
The DC 17 is the passive initiative if the wight. If you get a 17 or higher, you go before him. If you get 10 or more but less than 17, you go after the wight but before the zombies. Otherwise, you go after the zombies.

Ylliane's training is long dormant, but it was drilled into her for an even longer time. As soon as the wight gives the order to attack, as far as Ylliane is concerned, that's her mark. The head. The leader. The officer. She brings her bow up and feels the arrow breeze past her face as it strikes out on it's own, headed for the wight. Unfortunately, there's just too much in her way to be able to get off a good clean shot, even though she does graze it.
OOC:
Miss triggers Comeback Strike. That misses too. 4 damage total.

"You will pay for your crimes against the sacred!"

Hrafe allowed the wight to speak as with each syllable it uttered his burning hate for it. And then exploded into attacking it howling his holy fury.

OOC:
@Jomsviking,@Furmyr Ok, not sure if I was misunderstood. No one but Ylliane can attack the Wight this turn because she has a bow. I mentioned how far you can move in the battle map thread. here's a copy:
[ +- ] How far can I move?
Here is a visual if that helps:
[ +- ] Zones
TLDR: Hrafe and Edgar could approach the wight if they wanted, but they would have had to use their action to move a second time and thus not be able to attack. If you want to do that, you can, but i will ignore the attack rolls. if not, you approach ZS1, 2, or maybe 3 and use your attacks on them instead.
Jul 25, 2024 5:45 pm
OOC:
guess I will just run up to the wight
Jul 26, 2024 9:46 am
OOC:
Sorry, forgot to check that thread before I acted. So this will be my action. If the Shadow Walk he'll simply follow Hrafe and get as close to the Wight as possible.
Seeing no targets in range and engaged with his allies, Edgar pops into the shadows.
[ +- ] Shadow Walk

Rolls

CHA + LVL - (1d20+5)

(20) + 5 = 25

OOC:
I don't think you will be able to attac the wight, as he is not nearby from your current location. This will let you double damage a mook in the room next round, unless somehow someone else can draw the wight closer to where the party is.
The wight scowls as the barbarian approaches. "Fool, my zombies will kill your companions while you lay on the ground by my blade!" It then swings at Hrafe with a longsword that has a foul aura about it.
OOC:
Hrafe takes 20 weapon damage, and he feels the foul aura of the blade extend into him. He is now taking 8 ongoing negative energy damage, which means at the end of each of his turns he takes 8 negative energy damage and rolls a d20. on an 11+ this stops. Otherwise, this keeps going until he does roll a 11+ or the battle ends.

@SavageBob You are up. please keep in mind the "how far can I move" section of the battle tracker

Wight Sword vs. Hrafe AC 17—10 damage - (1d20+9)

OOC:
Forgot to say that Makasi chanted to the ancestors for protection before we entered the room, and used oil on both weapon and armor.
[ +- ] Invocation of Life
Makasi runs into the room, halberd point toward the huge cluster of zombies between the columns. "Ha!" she shouts to the wight. "I escaped death and lived to tell the tale! My ancestors have a thing or two to say about your army here...."
OOC:
Smiting ZS3.

Rolls

Smite + Oil - (1d20+1+4+5)

(14) + 10 = 24

Smite damage - (2d10+3+1d12)

(109) + (4) + 3 = 26

Jul 27, 2024 3:58 am
Makasi slams the zombie so hard that it slams into the one next to it, which has its head fly off and smack the next one in the chest. The first one explodes into blood and guts on impact, the second falls over and has its chest cave in so much it stops moving, and the third is still standing but reals from the impact.
OOC:
These zombies are mooks with 10 hp. Since Makasi did 26 damage, she actually killed 2 of them and there is 6 damage left over for the others.

Zombie Shuffler

Zombie Shuffler

The wight looks at the zombies and its eyes glow. The wight clearly has control over them, and thus they are slightly smarter than usual under active control. 1 and 2 run up to Ylliane and try to swing their limp arms. 5, 6, and 7 try to surround makasi. 8, 9, and 10 approach Hrafe. 8 is able to attack but 9 and 10 must dash to get into position.
OOC:
Summary:
Ylliane: 0 damage (i wrote AC 2 instead of 21 by mistake, so that one that looks like it his is a miss)
Makasi: 8 damage (3 + 1, doubled for nat20), zombies take 1 damage as well
Hrafe: 6 damage (3, +3 from nat16+), zombies also take 3 damage, so the one that bit Hrafe bit so hard it's head shattered
