Act I: Prison Break

OOC:
You were all chained together in one rather large cell. There are other cells in this block, but they are empty, save for the stone reinforced cell to the West that contains your rather large friend.

Also, Harrison's shackles that he's using as an improvised flail have a -4 to hit, but deals 1d8+Str damage.
Alyndra gets to work, and everything seems to be going smooth...right up until a small draft blows a little dust from an adjacent cell underneath her nose and she sneezes...it's a very light sneeze, but just enough for it to drop her pick.
OOC:
I need Perception rolls from everyone...

At Alyndra's sneeze, I quickly look around the cell and into the hallway leading to the cell.

Perception - (1d20+4)

OOC:
Alright then...passives are enough to get, really.
Everything goes dead silent for a moment when Alyndra sneezes and drops the pick...including the chatter outside of your cell block.

"Did you hear that?"

"*Hic* I tink it wassss a rat"

"No, I heard something...I'm going to go check it out."

You all have 1 round to react. The cell door is locked, and you can hear the guard unlocking the door to your block right now.

Harrison keeps his eyes open...

Perception - (1d20+5)

(18) + 5 = 23

Cupping my hands together, I release the sound of two rats scurrying down the hallway and disappearing into one of the unoccupied cells.

OOC:
*phew*...the dice were hating on you guys for a moment there...
Everyone freezes for a moment, and then Xharin creates the sound of two rats scampering and making noise in an adjacent cell. The door to the block stops opening, and is then shut and latched again.

You'd think an owl would cut down on the rats in this place...but NOOOOOO...

The guard continues to rant and rave about how there are too many damn rats in the prison, even though the warden has a pet owl that could thin them out a bit.
OOC:
Everyone can unclench as a free action...

Alyndra sighs quietly in relief and tries to reach her dropped lockpick.
OOC:
Hoping I can, since it looks like all of the cells are just bars and can be reached through?
If she is able to retrieve the pick, she will make another attempt, being very careful not to drop it again.
OOC:
EDIT: ... Can I just try to take 10 on this? lol

OOC:
I'ma take pity on you for this one...Because the dice were very hateful for this encounter. You're taking 10 on this one...
Alyndra is unable to really reach where the pick bounced to...however, in her newly acquired kit, there are plenty more. She sets to the lock and focuses, opening it within moments. The door to your cell is now open!
Sep 8, 2016 8:29 pm
Alyndra pops the door open and then exits the cell, grabbing her dropped pick.

She quietly moves over to the door that the guards enter through to see if it's locked, then heads back to the others, "When should we let our big friend out?"
OOC:
To be clear, I am not opening or touching the door, just trying to see if it's locked

OOC:
The door is not locked...but it does have a latch on it keeping it closed.

"Once we figure out which way we're going."
OOC:
How much of the prison layout do we know?
Sep 9, 2016 3:19 am
OOC:
Aren't we also shackled to the walls?
Sep 9, 2016 4:41 am
OOC:
Alyndra unshackled everyone. See here.

You're correct I had missed that bit.

"Shall we go ahead and let our new friend out for a bit of fresh air?" Harrison says turning to the wall.

OOC:
They had you hooded when they brought you in...you do know that there weren't many twists and turns, and that you went up one flight of stairs. They didn't brand you until you were almost to your cell.

Alyndra nods to Harrison and takes up her tools again, working on the lock to their large friend's cell.

OOC:
+2 Circumstance bonus on the lock, due to its similarity to the one you just opened. This prison is run by a bunch of cheap bastards.
The ogre steps out of the cell and stretches, quietly grumbling thanks to Alyndra. "Oh, dat's betta!"

Looking at the rest of the party, the ogre nods and says, "Alright then, wee ones. Wut next?"

Magoldor, you take note that, for some reason, the ogre appears to be intimidated by Xharin. It's the damnedest thing, really.

"Should we have him follow the guards back towards the gate house and kill/distract them there while we sneak past in the chaos, or lead them here so we can take their uniforms and cause a disturbance afterwards?" A solid plan has not manifested yet, but I have many ideas percolating. If only I knew how best to use my fellow escapees in this plan. As it is, I'm not sure what strengths they have, if any.

Harrison ensures that he's facing the ogre and asks, "What would you like right now? You're free. What would make you happy?"
