"That's it?!?" Luna sounds a bit skeptical "Sounds super easy. Though, we probably have to beat the other team to it if we want to return to our reality and not theirs." She gets ready to move to the Sculptor Chamber.

Anyone else going to confront the other crew?

OOC:
Luna was just planning to get therebefore the other teamand not tell too much about it. But is the Sculptor Chamber the place the dopplegangers is occuping?

OOC:
That's right, they're in the chamber with the Sculptor Apparatus.
Jul 25, 2024 4:32 am
OOC:
Yeah, I thought that Drake and Jayce were there with the doppelgangers.
Jul 25, 2024 12:02 pm
OOC:
disregard then, she will stay here

"Is there a reason the device wouldn't work twice?"
Jul 27, 2024 2:40 am
The Custodian responds to Aurin-Ah through Drake, "The Sculptor Apparatus can work as many times as you need it to, as long as power is maintained."

In the Sculptor Chamber with the doppelganger crew and the Neural interface:
OOC:
Jayce talks with the doppelganger Walker. While he does, I am hoping Luna makes it to the Sculptor chamber. Jayce is interested in the neural interface in the chamber and is willing to be the one to connect to it, but I want wait to see what Stefron has in mind for Luna's interaction here.
Neural interface....resonates with Jayce. What an interesting opportunity it would be for an empathic Haliian to connect to such a system created and by an ancient alien intelligence, he thinks. What would the neural network resemble, the Sculptors' own minds?

Jayce asks the doppelganger captian what his crew has discovered about the interface. "Captain, I studied some of the symbols in the power room with our science officer, Lieutenant Ah, and am possibly beginning to formulate ideas about some of the ways the Sculptors approach logic and communication. Does it appear this neural link is the sole interface to the Sculptor apparatus?"

Luna reaches the Sculptor Chamber and walks up to Jayce. "What is the status here, Lt. Devar?" she asks in a causal manner while noting the dopplegangers' position in the room.
OOC:
Luna is not going to do any confrontation or escalation. I mistakenly thought we were going to race them to a new location. But the
There just might be a conflict of interest that could turn into a conflict.

"Hello Lieutenant Vilchus. Captain Walker's crew has uncovered a neural interface. They have been scanning the specs from the databank and are hopeful that the scans will result in instructions we can interpret to send both our crews home. They are also hopeful this will uncover a weapon useful to them against the Borg"

He then says, in a more excited tone than he expects, "I am willing to connect to the interface. The idea of exploring first hand the Sculptors' concept of a neural network design intrigues both my Haliian mind as an empath and my professional mind as a psychologist."

He pauses in a moment of pensiveness and then suggests, "Has Ensign Drake relayed to our Commander what is here? If not one of us should."

While the experiments in the archives have gone on, the other team has been trying to understand the capabilities of the station.

Captain Walker of the other universe says, "If it had the power to send us home, could it be used to send the Borg there somewhere else? What if we took the station home with us?"

He holds up the neural link. "This is the only one we've seen. You can use it to go home of course, we'll use it after to make whatever changes we can to save our universe from annihilation by the Borg."

"We should all meet and decide what we should do with the apparatus." Aurin didn't like all this skulking about and playing telephone with the other crew. Although they hadn't definitively proven the device worked, they were close enough to start testing, and he didn't want anyone trying to shear reality in half by grappling over a phaser rifle trying to sieze control of the station.

Luna is following the exchange between Jayce and alternate Cole Walker. She was ready to fight over control of the apparatus and keep the other team at bay while using it to get home if things got down to that.
But then Aurin-Ah suggested a meeting.
OOC:
As a player I'm fine with a diplomatic solution. Luna got no social skills. She is just here for the flying and shooting, so someone else should do the talking.

Jayce hopes that his feeling of unease at the doppelganger Walker's plan to use the neural link 'after' Jayce's crew to save their universe and possibly 'take the station' home, doesn't manifest outwardly on his face as mistrust. Even if the plan is well intentioned...well...if it were to go wrong, who knows how the Borg could employ the station across quantum realities?

Disappointed that Captain Walker's words have forced him to conclude--despite his excitement to link with the interface-- that no one should hastily jump into the headset.

"Captain, judging by the symbols and markings I studied in the power chamber, I am convinced that the Sculptors' neural network is vast and intricate and whatever the neural link interfaces with is equally so. I believe we should wait for your complete analysis of the databank and our two crews should converge to share notes. I believe our science officer Aurin-Ah's insight will be helpful here. I left him while he was uncovering the workings of the power chamber."

Jayce recognizes Lt. Luna's subtle posturing of readiness to fight if needed. He hopes it does not come to that.

Despite his seeming nervous misgivings, Lieutenant Ah cautiously - his tone serious as he warned against what they could find - tapped the commands on his tricorder to begin the power transfer. As the station slowly began to power up the symbols around the chamber began to glow. The Away Team quickly began a quick discussion on how best to proceed - despite the clear perception that to activate any systems on the station would require someone to interact with the strange, alien engravings - before Drake took it upon his self to be the 'guinea pig'.

Cole's eyes widened in surprise and he moved to intercept the younger man but he was too late. The Ensign's body became rigid, a distant focus to his eyes, before after some time a strange apparition appeared. Jumping back with a start, Cole nearly drew his phaser before realizing Drake must have some how triggered it's appearance. Silently it stood, the room quiet for what seemed a considerable amount of time before the young security officer spoke, confirming the way home lay with the apparatus that the 'other' team was investigating. Alarmed, Luna raced off, seemingly worried that they would be stranded here in this reality as the other team made their way home before the interface confirmed through Drake that it would reamin operational as long as it had power to do so.

Aurin then made a sensible suggestion that Cole could not help but wholeheartedly agree. "Drake," he said, wondering if the Ensign could hear him, "Disengage if you can. I think it's time we rendevous with the other team and decide our next course of action."

Eyes focused through narrowed lids on the young officer, he tilted his head to address the doctor, "Doc. If he doesn't come out of it soon, stick around and make sure he checks out. If he doesn't disengage let me know ASAP." Meeting the rest of his teams' eyes he nodded towards the door, indicating that they should move out. With a final worried glance at his Ensign he made to follow his crew to the apparatus room.
OOC:
My most sincere apologies for ghosting the past few weeks. Work has been a bear, evenings haven't been much better, and there was a family vacation thrown in there.

Of course. This whole thing has me worried. He may need Devars help after this

"Yes, commander." Part of Drake does not want to obey orders. It's far too fascinating in this mysterious plane, but he does as requested and withdraws his hand.
Aug 3, 2024 2:21 pm
The connection with the Archives ceases immediately when Drake withdraws his hand. There is a moment's disorientation as he adjusts to only having access to the infinitesimal chamber of the Archives, rather than the infinite space of the virtual reality he was in. But he's a professional and his struggle is barely perceptible and over quickly.
