OOC:
Yes that’s exactly how to do a penalty die so that equates to 65 or 75, in this case we take the worst roll. You have the option of using Luck, but that’s a big chunk.

OOC:
I think I will opt out of using luck this time, but thanks for the reminder!

Gardiner has grabbed the book. Now we have a contested Strength check, Lettie, so see if he can pull it from you. (No penalty die for this one

Go Lettie! You got this!
May 1, 2024 4:40 pm
Lettie attempts to hold on to the book, trying not to look too closely at the abomination before her.

Rolls

Strength (60?) - (1d100)

(27) = 27

Lettie manages to tug the book out of Gardiner's hands!

Nora's up first, then Jack.

Nora finds herself clinging to the doorframe, using it to support her weight as her mind reels. She rapidly blinks, trying to clear her mind but also hoping that the horror unfolding before her turns out to be some sort of waking nightmare and will be set to rights if she can just shake of this daze. Nora doesn't cry, doesn't scream; the only noise that comes from her is the rattling, shaking inhale of breath that seem to foretell either of these responses though. Watching the conflict before, she rails inside at how ineffectual she feels.

Jack grabs his stomach and does his best to shrug off the pain. Then, seeing Lettie struggling against Gardiner, he’ll grab the chair he originally threw and try to hit Gardiner with it from behind.
OOC:
I included a Brawl roll and the same damage as the throw, but I can add a different one if needed.

Rolls

Brawl - (1d100)

(97) = 97

Damage - (1d8+1d4)

(4) + (3) = 7

OOC:
Not a fumble but definitely a miss. Want to drop some luck?
May 3, 2024 4:40 pm
OOC:
That’s alright, that would take more luck than I have anyway.
May 4, 2024 8:37 am
Having snatched the book away, Officer Grey steps between her and Gardiner.

George?

OOC:
I'm still dazed for another 2(?) rounds, I'm not sure what George can do other stare at the horror before me. If I'm able to, I think I'd like to try & grab the tarpaulin off the floor to wrap around the Gardiner thing to ensnare it.

OOC:
You can pretty much do anything except initiate an attack, search the cupboards, or even run away! Engaging with Gardiner in any way is considered an attack and something you can't do (for a couple of rounds)
May 5, 2024 9:06 am
OOC:
Lettie, this is your last round of being dazed. Anything you'd like to do?
May 5, 2024 7:03 pm
While the group struggles with Gardiner, George quickly rummages through the cupboards trying to find either a weapon or something he can improvise as a weapon
OOC:
I assume a spot hidden roll is necessary

Rolls

Spot Hidden (25%) - (1D100)

(77) = 77

May 5, 2024 7:24 pm
OOC:
Sorry, I'll have to take your first post, George.

As he opens the cupboard, something falls out.
OOC:
Give me a DODGE roll with a penalty die (so 1d100 and 1d10)
May 5, 2024 8:24 pm
OOC:
that is bizarre...I only (meant) to post once. Not sure why it double posted like that...

Rolls

Dodge - (1D100)

(69) = 69

Dodge penalty - (1d10)

(2) = 2

May 5, 2024 11:53 pm
With the book in hand, Lettie moves away from the creature, attempting to put the bookshelf between her and it. She hides for now… At least until her head begins to clear.
OOC:
Any roll needed for this action?
