Before Lightning Keep

Grim checks that his shield is strapped tight hefts his warhammer and follows ready for anything.

Kurt opens the door to a 15x30 foot room.

Fourteen wooden chairs surround a wooden dining table. Suspended above the table is an iron chandelier missing its candles. Two empty sideboards stand against the north wall.

Set into the east wall is a blackened fireplace. Above its blue marble mantelpiece hangs a metal shield bearing an insignia: a wolf’s head with three lightning bolts above it.

Like the Hall the Dinning room is covered with dust, the air smells stale, and the only light is Kurt's torch.

Grim will head over and inspect the shield.

Can onlooking Kurt fairly much recognize the nice heraldry on the wall shield? (Gave some dice for that.)

There is no further mention of an exit other than the entrance door coming into this dusty dining hall.

Alex quietly follows behind everyone and waits by the dinning room entrance.

Grim give me an investigation roll.

Kurt knows from a story another soldier told him once that the heraldry of the Werwolf Knight who built this fortress was what you see on this shield. There are no windows in this room, only the one door and the fireplace are built in.

Alexander and Erani in the doorway see the Hall remains clear of threat.

Not the sharpest knife in the kitchen

Rangrim, standing at the fireplace you notice that there are no ashes left in the hearth, though it is covered in dust.

Grim will look at Kurt."Check this out." I will then attempt to open it.

Kurt moves closer to give more light.

Simple Kurt says, "This place looks well abandoned with time. Perhaps the other rooms are better."

Everyone watches as grim opens the blue mantle to reveal two halfs of a 10 foot long silver rods, one with a ball at one end.

Looks at the others"A lightning rod?"

Do they look like they connect together?

"That would my guess. Likely it belongs on a high point of the keep."

They do seem like they would fit together.

Alex approaches and looks over the discovery. "It would appear so. We should secure the rod and continue looking for the others. Putting it in place now before we have them all may attract unwanted attention to the castle."

Exiting Kurt says, "A good find. Surprise to be anything left in this dinning hall."

"Should I put them back in the hidden compartment or do we want to take them with us?"

"Bring it with us," Alex says firmly. "We wouldn't want to have to spend extra time backtracking once we have located all of them."
