Sigrid will act on a slow turn.
Jul 29, 2024 2:19 pm
Player Fast
Fachtna casts his spell, putting the old man inside of a sanctuary - this causes the soiled seagulls to begin ignoring the old man, granting him time to escape!

At the same moment, Caranthir walks into the array of horrific-looking birds - their feathers dripping pus and oil, their insides exposed, bones popping out of flesh unnaturally - and hopes to scare them away. They seem completely unfazed by the giant in their midst, and still scream and caw as they circle about.

Then, a clamoring of pots and pans clanging together erupts right in the middle of it all! The birds fly to the air, circling about and cawing even more loudly!

Enemy Fast

Once the clangs and clangs begin, the birds take to the air! Their wings spray oily gunk, splattering everywhere! Seagull feces comes flying out of their cloacae, and vomit spews from their damaged and broken beaks.
OOC:
Caranthir and Fachtna - make an Agility Challenge Roll, with one bane! (Note: You also have one additional bane because you are Impaired by being so close to the soiled seagulls. So your rolls are 1d20+Agi Mod-2d6h1). On a failure, you take 2d6 damage and you are impaired until the end of your next turn. On a success, you take half damage.
OOC:
Special Rule: If you are within 1 yard of a flock of spoiled seagulls, you are impaired.

Impaired: You make attack and challenge rolls with one bane.

Player slow turns are up! (Hugh, Sigrid, and Lorenzo).

I think the bane was mostly unnecessary

Getting shit on by undead seagulls is a new start

Rolls

Agility - (1d20-2-2d6)

(2) - (65) - 2 = -11

Jul 29, 2024 6:20 pm
OOC:
Rules for Boons and Banes:

Boons and banes cancel each other out. If you have 2 boons and 1 bane, you have a net of 1 boon.

When you roll multiple boons or multiple banes, you only take the highest roll of the set.

For Caranthir's example, he rolled a 2 plus agility mod of -2 (net 0), then two banes. His banes were 5 and 6. 6 is the higher so he only keeps that and ignores the 5.

2-2-6= -6 for his total roll.

Also, now is a good time for me to mention (I forgot earlier) - everyone starts the game with Fortune.

Now that Caranthir has rolled, he may choose to use his fortune to turn this failed roll into a success. Once you use your fortune, it is gone until I say you earn it again.

"Absolutely vile!"
Disgust and repulsion conquer Lorenzo's face as he witnesses the horrendous spewing of waste toward his comrades. No part of him wanted to have to clean that off of his armor today, but his duty would be to make sure it didn't happen to anyone else either. His shield bearing the ouroboros symbol of the New God was promptly raised by his organic arm. The industrious paladin spoke a word of power, subsequently causing gears upon the shield to slowly turn. As the gears turned, spare parts in the wagon behind him seemingly moved on their own, but he knew exactly the shape he was making. A miniature ballista formed in the cart, ready to take aim at the putrid flock of birds.
After finishing his spell, Lorenzo moved to stand a short distance from both Sigrid and Caranthir on the side of the road. Noting the spray of bile and feces, he had no intention of standing directly next to anyone, but his abilities would still be made the most of by being close to his allies.

OOC:
A new ruling has come up!

Lorenzo has cast Bolt Thrower. This summons a bolt "Gatling gun" into existence, and fires a bolt every round.

Does this bolt thrower count as a magical weapon or not? Are.summoned weapons inherently magical? There's no set rule for this, and as a group we are allowed to decide how we want to run it.

Because this is a short game, I'll roll for it. But normally I allow the whole group to decide.

1: Summoned Weapons count as magical. This means that they bypass weapon resistance, but are subject to magic resistance.
2: Summoned Weapons do not count as magical. This means they bypass magic resistance, but are subject to weapon resistance.

Rolls

1: Magical. 2: Non-Magical - (1d2)

(2) = 2

After seeing the vile undead fowl spewing rot and feces everywhere, Hugh rethinks rushing into battle and instead draws his pistol, leading his mount in a wide -- very wide -- arc around the disgusting flocks in his attempts to protect the old man.

OOC:
Hugh - That is correct! A roll of 9 will miss their defense (13), so you can use fortune to turn a failed roll into success if you like.

It requires an action to reload, so you can reload this round.

Also, where would you like to move to? I can move your figure on the map.

Does Caranthir waiting for additional hostility count?

Player Slow

Hugh rides closer and fires a pistol shot; the loud bang rings out clearly, but unfortunately misses, even with Lorenzo's prayer. Speaking of Lorenzo, the priest summons a bolt thrower, which will begin to automatically fire a bolt at the end of the round.

Sigrid rushes in and strikes a mighty blow!
OOC:
Due to this particular monster being a swarm of seagulls, Sigrid's damage is less effective than it otherwise would be. The swarm takes half damage from effects that use an attack roll, but double damage from effects that use a challenge roll.

Titan's blow will come into effect - narratively it doesn't really make sense for a single strike to physically knock down an entire swarm, so instead we'll just ignore that and allow the mechanical effect to work - one boon on attack rolls against Flock 1 next round.
Caranthir says:
speaking of triggered actions, Does Caranthir waiting for additional hostility count?
OOC:
No. You went on Fast Turn, and used a move. That was your turn.

If you want to Prepare an Action, you'll have to use an Action to prepare, define a situation you are preparing for, and then when that situation occurs use your triggered action to do it. In order for you to have done that this turn, you would have had to gone on Slow Turn so you could both move and use an action.
Enemy Slow
Both of the other two flocks of soiled seagulls takes flight, diving straight for the group. These birds seem unnaturally unafraid, and care little for the noise being generated. One flock flies straight for Sigrid, Caranthir, and Hugh. The other flies to Shadow and Lorenzo.

The birds come pecking and scratching, digging in their broken beaks into any sort of flesh they can grab! Splatters and specks of oily substance comes flying off their wings as they do so, dirtying your armor and covering you in tiny black pocks.
OOC:
Flock 2 misses Sigrid, but hits Shadow for 6 damage. The attack against Shadow was 20+, which trigger's the flock's Spreading the Disease talent. Fortunately, you are all immune to disease, because you are paladins.

End of the Round
Bolt Thrower: Lorenzo's Bolt Thrower fires a bolt (Lorenzo to decide which enemy).
Swarming Animals: Each creature that isn't a swarm and that is in the swarm's space or within 1 yard of a swarm must make an agility challenge roll (with 1 bane due to impaired) or take 1d6 damage and become slowed for 1 round. This should be everyone except Lorenzo.

Enemy Status:
Flock 1: 9 damage, spatter talent used (reuse in 6 rounds), 1 boon on attacks against this flock next round
Flock 2:
Flock 3:

Round 2
Everyone who needs to make their rolls against Swarming Animals. Lorenzo makes his Bolt thrower roll. Remember that if you are within 1 yard of a swarm, you are impaired (1 bane on attack and challenge rolls).

Then with the same post, declare Fast Turn or Slow Turn. Fast Turn PCs can post their actions or moves right away. Slow Turn PCs will wait.

Old Man
The Old Man utters a prayer, granting Sigrid a boon to her strength challenge roll.
OOC:
This prayer boon cancels out the bane, allowing Sigrid to pass the challenge roll. A 10 is all that is needed!

The prayer helps Sigrid ward the birds off. She swings again on the seagulls she struck previously.

@nezzeraj,@MaJunior Don't forget your agility challenge rolls (with a bane) to avoid the 1d6 damage! These rolls would have taken place at the End of the Round for round 1.
