"EEEK!!!" exclames Kurumi as she is afraid of bugs. "Are they dead?"
Oct 2, 2024 8:30 pm
As Kurumi asks this, two mice walk out of the Mouse Hole. The gray mouse in a bonnet and apron is visibly vexed. She’s carrying something. Luna can easily see that the mouse is carrying a rolling pin.

The other mouse is brown, and he’s wearing an undersized hat and an oversized bow tie. The expression on his face is like that of any husband whose wife is miffed.

"I told ya we needed to save up for a door, but no. You had to get the mailbox, the seven inch TV, and the subscription to Brie weekly."

"But honey! That subscription puts food on the table—specifically Sunday Brie!"

"Don’t but-honey me! I don’t need my but honeyed. I need my butt protected!"

"But huhhh…I mean WHO can protect us from Robotic Spiders?" The brown mouse suddenly notices out heroines, and the broken spider-bots.

A large❗️appears over his head!

"Oooooh, that’d betta be a QuestGiver Exclamation Point, and not one of your ideas!"

Before the brown mouse can respond, The Quaz gives the mouse a thumbs up. "Aaaaaay. I think the exclamation point is a mark of coolness."

Not one to be out-cooled (more than once), a large❗️appears over Quazie’s head as well. Whose QuestGiver Exclamation Point is cooler depends on the coolness of the quest.

Also… Cass has a sneaky suspicion that accepting a quest is a great way to delay the inevitable reunion with Vera.

Talking mice! She was so happy to see them, "Well hello there my fair mice. I am Princess Diamond of the Diamond Throne. You may or may not remember me from the party at Cinderella’s castle? I was the on who ended up in the moat fighting the undead pastry. Well, even if you weren’t there or didn’t remember that’s okay. It seems you have a problem with Robot Spiders and I have six talented ladies ready to help."

"Cinderelly?" The brown mouse looks confused.

"She said Cin-der-ell-AH. And more importantly, she said she can help!"

The two mice look at each other with such hope, they don’t even fanfare sounding off from the accepted quest.

The brown mouse tips his hat to the princess. "Why thank you. I suppose you mean to send your fairy friend in?"

The mousewife gives him the side-eye. "Please. Everyone who reads The Paper knows fairies have Pixel Dust that can shrink their friends so the lot of ’em can enter mouse holes."
The Quaz slowly backs away from the conversation. His exclamation point deflates to a limp question mark. Having been out-cooled by talking mice, he thinks it best to ride his motorcycle to Outta Here.

And anyone who keeps watching notices that the Quaz lands on the road and looks back to see if anyone was impressed. Then he keeps riding, but on the road and at the posted speed limit.

’Cause reckless driving ain’t cool.
https://i.imgur.com/tV4Ui13.jpegBut getting back to the mice, they’re ecstatic!

"Do come in! It would be our great honor to invite a real live princess into our humble abode!"

"Just gimme a jiffy or two to shoo the spiders off our furniture."

"Isn’t that the whole point of inviting a shrunken princess and her entourage?"

"Right… we better wait for you to do the Pixel Dust thing before we put the kettle on then."

Quest accepted! Of course Luna will need to sprinkle ✨Pixel Dust. One ✨ will be enough to keep everyone tiny for the entire Mouse House quest.

Oh, by the way, all of the spidery robots (that were attached to wind-up keys) are no longer functional. Of course, there are more mechanical pests inside the Mouse House.

Assuming Luna sprinkles ✨Pixel Dust on all of you (which, for some reason, only affects other players), you’ll all need to roll 🕹️STUNT when you enter the Mouse House.

Each 💥 gets the team past a strands of the robo-spiders’ laser-web without incident.

Luna doesn't ask her new friends, it doesn't occur to her, but simply and whimsically flies around them sprinkling pixie dust.

"A mouse hole is so much fun. Even more so when they're friendly mice!" She spins and flourishes as the girls shrink down, their bodies first then their clothes rapidly after them.

"A mouse is like pipe space! Did you know there are some mouse holes that lead to other planets? Or neighborhoods, one of those two. Very mysterious if you ask me. One time I got married to a picture of a rooster!"

Surveying her work, she adds a couple more grains of dust to make sure all their weapons are the proper new size.

Our heroines feel an odd sensation of nakedness as their clothing billows from their bodies—but only for a fleeting moment! for Luna is simply following proper procedure. Were she to shrink the clothing first, it would tear like giftwrap.

In a matter of seconds, clothing is comfortably snug and the world is a forest of legs. Only Luna and the mice appear to be normal to our human heroines.

Purple lasers criss-cross along the entrance to the Mouse House. Can our tiny, gravity-defying heroines slip by without setting off the obvious trap?

Why did mice need laser grids on their doors anyway? Well, who was she to criticize others when her wing of the castle was triple fortified with laser grids, owlbears, and a vast array of dangers just to try and cut down on the kidnappings. Somehow it never seemed to work though...

Pira is simply delighted by the fact that this time Bitey shrinks as well, and she doesn't need to leave it outside the mouse hole and have her fish friend miss out on an adventure. Besides, with how it's been going so far? She's pretty sure they are not going out the same way they got in.

She's examining the laser grid when her ears finally process some of Luna's chatter. "Wait a moment. A picture of a rooster? Who would officiate that? Can you give me their number?" Piranha tilts her head. "Also, why are these friendly mice were concerned about a door if they have this whole setup? And why do we have to do it if we're guests?!" She huffs, then plasters herself against the wall and squeezes through the lasers. "This planet's weird..."

Kurumi tries to pass through the laser webs. She fails to avoid them. "Is it the burger? Am I fat now?" she thinks. "This is definitely NOT like cotton candy." she says to Luna.

Our Heroines enter the mouse house only to find lasers criss-crossing, zig-zagging, forming a web that never quite connects…

Our heroines manage to get through most of the way, until finally a toe or a wing or a strand of hair barely brushes a thin purple line—

—and the purple lights flicker off. The mouse house door slams shut! And all would be pitch black if not for Luna’s aura and the golden specks that keep our heroines temporarily tiny.

From the candle-flame-like glow, the humble abode appears to have human objects repurposed as mouse furniture. A bare spool for a table with thimble chairs. A matchbox stove. A raisin box to store food (probably raisins). A futon made of folded fabric.

It’s cute and all, but the mouse couple did say something about spiders. All those red eyes suddenly illuminating around you… that must be them!

—from the red eyes, glowing lines form in the air—red near the glowing eyes, golden as they draw closer! They move slow because the adrenaline (or the game’s Cut Scene) is giving you the ability to experience the current second-and-a-half in slow motion. So you have time to realize that these red-gold lines are not lasers. They’re webs!

You have time to 🕹️DODGE or ㊙️BLOCK!
OOC:
Your first action will need to be DEFEND since you just missed winning the ‘initiative’ roll. The two defense types are different:
• DODGE - on a HIT, you are completely unhindered.
• BLOCK - on a HIT, you take the hit for another player who rolled a MISS.
• DODGE or BLOCK - on a MISS, the spider damages you (-💜) before you can act, and your ATTACK is weaker because of the webbing all over you arms and torso.

You can take a second action no matter what. If you choose a SPECIAL instead of an ATTACK, just be creative.

Also, using an ITEM can be in addition to other actions. For some of you, the ITEM might override the consequence of a bad roll.

Cass had never had an issue with spiders. If anything, she'd thought them kinda fun. The bigger kinds were a nuisance because they always sat in your eye line and made a constant reminder that your home wasn't as secure as you suggested, but the smaller ones were mini roommates as far as she cared. Now though, these spiders gave her a different kind of feeling.

Robots, to her mind, were square. They were the box equivalent of snowmen, with a larger box on the bottom and a smaller one on top. Gnar-Gnar always wanted to make these custom, multi-limbed bots and it'd probably coloured her opinion, if she was honest, but non box robots were simply the enemy. Not to mention laser beams defence grids didn't tend to suggest the good guys.

The thoughts occupied her mind as she ducked away from the webs flying in her direction, taking care to avoid knocking over a coffee table (which she called that because it was made out of a coffee box), before returning fire with some well placed emp blasts from her blaster.

She attempts to dodge the spider web and instead hits the very center. The princess is...trapped...this is a feeling she's very very used to though so, with one free hand she twirls a wand and creates some scissors. The large scissors easily cut through the web so that she can be free.

"Hold on, Your Higness, I'm coming!" Pira proclaims boldly and then dashes forward to block the way of the spider inching towards the princess. Unfortunately it's not very effective as she gets distracted by the lasers, but it doesn't stop her from still placing herself between them and boasting: "You won't win over the combined power of a heel and a wand, you arachnid fiend!" She flexes her claws and strikes a pose while Diamond cuts herself out of the web. "Besides, do you know how many kangaroo spiders I fought?"

Once she is completely sure that the princess is safe, Piranha then grins and glares at the spider cockily: "And now it's time for you to taste my claws!"

As our heroines fumble through the laser-webs, a couple spiders get some lucky strikes in—their pointy ‘legs’ stabbing at Pira and the Princess! Kurumi is almost struck as well, but Luna’s quick flight distracts her assailant, allowing Thundra to smack it away!
OOC:
Bonus effect for Luna’s Super Dodge: Thundra lands the blow!
As Cass and Pira blast and smash, the Princess literally cuts off the spider-bots’ hindering attack. Those that remain attempt to reposition themselves! A few skitter toward the closet door, but our heroines can see that there’s a huge hole in the back of the closet that leads to Who-Knows-Where.

Another pair of bots run on the ceiling toward the bathroom while the rest head for a dark hallway..!
OOC:
TAKE ACTIONS:
• ㊙️BLOCK, 🕹️STUNT or ☢️MAGIC can cut off a spider group’s strategic retreat. (Since BLOCK is a DEFEND action, and STUNT/MAGIC is a SPECIAL, it’s possible for a heroine to use both actions to cut off the escape.

• It takes 2 hits💥💥 to prevent spiders from escaping through the bathroom.
• It takes 3 hits💥💥💥 to prevent spiders from escaping through the closet.
• It takes 4 hits💥💥💥💥 to prevent spiders from escaping through the hall.
㊙️FIGHT or ☢️SHOOT to destroy an individual spider or two.

• It takes 2 hits💥💥 to kill a spider while it’s running for its escape route.
• It takes 1 hit💥 to kill a spider if its group cannot escape.
(Some of you might have ITEMs that could help, if the die rolls suck.)
The spiders are bigger than you, to stop them, you’ll need to act as a team!
