Venexus won't allow us to follow another. We are desperate for allies, so hoped to find her once we're through the caves. She seemed cruel and bloodthirsty, so I'm afraid we'll trade one despot for another. But when Tedanu and the other set out I joined to keep them out of trouble. I'm afraid I've done a poor job at it so far," Eokoe says.

Iroven's eyes furrowed at the mention of the name Ivarsa. "Venexus was right. Ivarsa is cruel and dangerous. She has been hounding our following, causing problems and untold damage. Her following the Burning Mammoth is also dangerous. We have faced her once, and she is powerful. With the situation right now, I understand that you cannot trust anyone. However, if you do need allies, you can meet our following the Broken Tusk. Talk to the leaders, Argakoa, Grandfather Eiwa, Nakta or Merthig and tell them that we sent you. They will surely provide you a camp to rest in along with food and water. In the meantime, we can look for your companions."

You have received 5 reputation points with the Sutaki people. You can keep exploring the caves. Though not much left to discover. You can follow the river to the north or the hallway to the south, or up across the bridge above the hallway to the south.In reality there should be more distance between where you found the first hunters and where you found the fiendish trees. But due to the limitation of fitting it all to one map in an Adventure Path the rooms ends up right next to each other.

Not habitable. Mostly make it safe to traverse. Sooner or later the Burning Mammoth will dig through and the more distance you have to them at that time, the better. You still haven't found the exit. You follow the river north until you come upon a warm, verdant grove with tall, slender trees and a simple hut of bent saplings and mud.
On the far side of the hut you can see two dead bodies. One dressed like one of the local hunters, but the other is dressed in half-plate. As you get closer, three shapes comes out of the hut. You can recognize them as castororides, a local species of giant sized beavers.

Iroven didn't bring out his sword when he saw the castororides. Maybe they can talk this through and try to understand what happened here. He tried to recall whether they were hostile creatures.

Koram holds his hands up toward the inhabitants of the grove, having Haitith stand back. He smiles, attempting to show they mean no harm. Once is a little closer, he decides to sit, crossing his legs. He bows his head while continuing to show his empty hands.

I realize I never chose language for Koram, so I'm not sure what he can speak and it wouldn't be fair to come up with it now. I imagine he will have some sort of penalty for the language barrier, but he will try to get the point across that they are not enemies.Rolls

Iroven knows the castoroides have been known to build crude structures or dams. Their teeth can penetrate leather and wood and can ignore some amount of Hardness in objects. They've even been know to swat aside projectiles with their tales. Their size means they have worse reflexes than normal beavers.
Koram is able to calm the animals down. They carefully approach Koram, sniff at him, before returning back into the hut.

Artesia has heard of certain priests with the ability to speak with animals. For not the first time, she finds herself wishing that she possessed such a power.

With the castoroides inside the hut, you are able to get past. You come closer to see that the dead hunter is wearing a pendant carved from bone. It depict a four-fingered dragon claw. The body in the armor is far more rotted, looks to have been dead a few years. You can see the armor bear the mark of a sword with a sunburst behind it.
Artesia is able to tell that the knight was a plague zombie. You also see gnaw marks on him, indicating that the castoroides have eaten infected meat.
Off to the side, you see a spellbook that's been ripped apart, probably by castoroide teeth. You can however tell that the spellbook was bound in humanoid leather.

Artesia considers the possibilities. If the castoroides have eaten the tainted meat, they may be driven to madness, or worse. She wonders if there is a way to help the creatures.
