Growing tired of their silence, Ygne huffs in irritation. "These three are dumber than the dragon-cows," she grumbles, striding toward the bridge and shouting "That's it! Get off an' let us through!"

Ygne will step up to the bridge and try to shove past them.

Ygne barges through the middle of the three figures on the bridge. As she does so, she identifies them as a female dark elf and two rather awkward looking zombies.

The dark elf regains her composure after being barged into and says in a calm voice: "Please do not be so rude. We merely look for company on the road. May I introduce myself, I am Mekrien Silverleaf and the my two deceased friends answer to the names of 'Shuffle' and 'Shrug' respectively. May we join you?"

Hosford Merrywife immediately registers her objection from her position at the back of the group. "We don't need no company. Especially not those who we can little trust. And those dead things will scare my Marsh Drakes an' all."
Oct 14, 2016 3:32 am
Immediately picking up on Hosford's objection, Robon resolutely backs. "Please now, carry on. We have a long distance to go and must make haste. Your cooperation is appreciated." The forgeborn maintains its place and attempts to puff itself a bit to look bit more intimidating to the dark elf.
Oct 14, 2016 2:03 pm
Milo gives a weak smile at Ygne as she behaves so rudely, but at Hosford's hesitation he yields. "I apologize, it is not in my authority to allow you to join us. I am glad you have some form of..." He gives a raised eyebrow to the shammblers "...protection." He returns to his normal smile. "Do be wary from bandits."

Ygne huffs in irritation, standing her ground on the other side of the three, upon the bridge. The fact that she hadn't been attacked by now meant that these three were possibly not as dangerous as she'd expected. Not that Ygne would ever admit that. "Every Elf I've met is named Silverleaf, anyhow," she grumbles quietly, childishly, "Probably made it up."

She rests her spear in the crook of her arm and makes a shooing motion with the freed hand.
Oct 14, 2016 9:11 pm
Jack watched things unfold from his place at the back, growing restless as the two groups spoke. A brow piqued with interest when Ygne brashly forced her way forward, but his hopes for a moment of excitement were dashed when the trio went unprovoked. Not that he wanted them to attack her, of course! But it'd give him a sense that he was actually EARNING the money he was getting from this job.

He didn't have much of an opinion about letting the three travel with them. It was definitely a suspicious group, but it wouldn't have been too difficult to stage an ambush, and they hadn't done that. But Jack'd only been compensated for the woman and her marsh dragons, the kids in the carriage were already stretching the limits of his charity. However...

"What if they pay us for the muscle?" he called from the back, in Hosford's direction.
Oct 14, 2016 10:41 pm
In contrast to Jack's near-excitement at the prospect of some action, Milo was quite pleased that only a few setbacks had befallen the group. He was in no mood to fight, least of all a woman who may actually just want help. Hearing Knife-Eye's proposal to his current employer, Milo holds his breathe for Hosford's response. He very much would like to help the woman, despite her foul-smelling guards, but considers it far from his place to outright allow it. Still, if Hosford accepted the Theif's idea, then it would allow him to do so.
Oct 15, 2016 11:47 am
Hosford turns to Jack and says "I'll take their money. Good as anyone else's. But dead things, well theys meant to stay dead isn't they. I'll take the money but don't expect me to be guarding them. That's down to you fellas. I'll have one eye on me drakes and the other on me back."
Oct 15, 2016 3:43 pm
Ygne looks concerned by Hosford's statement. Suddenly her eye twitches. She goes cross-eyed for just a moment before she blinks rapidly and rubs at her peepers.

"Yes!" Ygne approves of Jack's plan, thumping the butt of her spear on a plank of the wooden bridge. "Why jus' part ways when we could have them give us their gold? Just in case they're bandits. Bandits 'ave lots of gold." Ygne's smile is beaming bright, proud of herself despite it being Jack's plan.

The odd trio stands before the makeshift convoy, and Robon feels uneasy about the arrangement. This is peculiar. My experience as a bodyguard tells me something is off here.
OOC:
Roll to sense motive, please. Relying on my training as a bodyguard to read intent of people. I'll go ahead and roll, but if you don't want me to count no problem.
His loyalty, at least until the coin purse is empty lies to Hosford. If he wishes to take the group along with him, then so be it. Robon is forced to acquiesce to his employer's decision.

Milo exhales, relieved. He smiles to the strange woman. "Welcome aboard. I am Milo."
Oct 16, 2016 5:27 pm
"Ygne the Kind," she introduces herself, smacking her lips like it left a bad taste in her mouth. She was completely displeased with her recent morality, even if it was for gold.

I am Robon. It nods and resumes its place alongside the caravan.
Oct 17, 2016 9:22 am
Mekrien, Shuffle and Shrug fall into pace with the caravan and your journey continues.

As night begins to fall you are looking for a place to camp. A whistling sound draws your attention to the sky to something that is commonly known as the Archmage’s Comet. This strange phenomena appeared a month ago, a comet that moves erratically across the sky and sometimes disappears for days at a time. The whistling at first sounds distant, like the warbling of a bird, but it grows painfully and piercingly loud as the comet seems to momentarily change course.

The comet brightens, and an instant later the Dragon Wood is shaken by a loud explosion. The comet is still intact, but several chunks have fallen off it!

Suddenly the Dragon Wood is pelted by red-hot rocks from the sky! Trees explode. The marsh-drakes panic and begin running away.
Oct 17, 2016 5:12 pm
Milo is quick to react, He leaps from his bedroll, forgoing his staff and pack, and looks about to get his bearings, ensuring none of his allies have been injured. His heart beating with adrenaline, he takes off after one set of marsh drakes once he notices their dispersal.
"I'll get these back! Someone get thoe over there!" Milo yells over the pandemonium.

Can anyone who is attempting to herd/capture the marsh drakes give me a skill roll (1d20 + dex mod + level).
Oct 17, 2016 9:36 pm
Robon reacts out of instinct and wildly chases after the marsh-drakes, in an attempt to get them all under control.

"Do any of you have these things under control?" Robon shouts to his colleagues. "We may need to coordinate out efforts. Hosford, is there a trick to getting their attention?"

Jack flinches when the world explodes and all hell breaks loose, but there is no panic in the lithe man as shards of wood rain upon him or strike his leather armor. Explosions are old hat for the once-performer, as magical showmanship had been an incessant part of daily life. And there were few things a wild mage seemed to love more than blowing things up.

He was not entirely without alarm, as the sight of the fleeing marsh drakes meant that his payday was scattering into the ravaged forest. "Ohhh no you don't!" the man said, sprinting to try and outrun the drakes, hoping to cut them off and keep them from running away by tempting them with more samples of jerky.

"Oh, look! Fire!" Ygne shouts as the comet meanders about the sky. Soon, however, her words are more true than she originally intended, as pieces of the comet blast the wood around the group. Ygne crouches low, curses aloud as she tries to find some kind of cover. When the lizards all begin to flee, she scowls, stands up tall, and bellows, "Get back here, stink-dragons! GET IN LINE!"

Jack and Robon manage to catch 2 Marsh Drakes each and Ygne manages to grab hold of 3. Milo does best of all, capturing 5. There are still 8 of them running around in a blind panic.
