(Now now children, through the portal)

(ooc: Agreed Kai. I just think personal attacks should be kept to PMs. In a pbp game we can't all be perfect. We may miss something, we may misread something, we may interpret something differently. We may have a different perspective on something. We may want to do something that takes longer than someone else. Ultimately we have to be flexible to make this work. If a player makes a mistake ina post that needs correcting I suggest you PM them, and if they agree they can edit their post. We also have a strategy thread for disputes. I'm done anyway... I'm saying nothing more... back to the portal).

(OOC: WOW. I'm sorry I used an example that contained you Merlin.. I should have used one of the other examples. This was just one of the clearest and most recent ones to use. I'm sorry I was honestly confused as to how you could possibly know that and why the GM accepted it and gave more information made me think that perhaps ***I*** misunderstood if everything the GM posted was public knowledge or not... WHICH WAS WHY I ASKED! If you feel I personally attacked you then I am sorry, that was not my intention at all. I'll just STFU)
(Addendum OOC: I understand some tempers could be flayed a bit because of the issues that just happened with me going to the surface. The grandmaster never told me 3 hours, or I'd have used that timeframe and maybe you wouldn't be around at all, or would have come looking for me.. I took an hour and 10 min rest.. and it was my understanding it was a short walk. So when I said "a little over an hour", I believed it, and the GM never indicated to me otherwise. Nothing in my PMs with him made me feel it took over an hour and a half to get to the surface and do what happened.
Further: I understand that some people might be upset about my having held up postings for a day. Let me tell you that Tara's reasoning was not only completely tactical, but also directly in line with her training, morals, and duty. I'm sorry I can't just "break" my entire character concept to allow for 'majority rule'. If I did that I'd be playing a broken character, and any of you that have gamed for long periods know that playing a broken character that you willingly destroyed isn't much fun. I even told the GM that if it couldn't be resolved and the party ended up splitting that I'd create a new character; because I would rather throw this character away with respect and play a new one. I'm sorry that slowed down the campaign, and I can understand why there might be some resentment towards me for that. I apologize, but I'd do it again.)

(OOC: Just so everyone is aware, I know the GM is: I get confused. I've gotten even more confused after this last heart attack about 3 weeks ago, and it was happening with some frequency before that even. Entire conversations, even events, people have to remind me of because I do'nt remember.. So I'm constantly re-reading things and by the end wondering if I missed something or not.. and usually I dismiss it if it's something small.. but when the GM is responding to it and I can't resolve it, and I know he's unavailable today.. I had to frame it so you could understand what I was trying to ask and why I'm confused. My mind locked onto the thought of 'maybe the gms posts are open knowledge'? and it wouldn't let go.. but that didn't seem right to me and figured it was a mistake.. but then why would the gm give out more knowledge on a mistake and my mind just went into a vicious circle from there. Again, I'm sorry I caused all this drama over the last day or so..)

I'm still alive. GM says it's because Heaven doesn't want me and Hell has a restraining order. :)
Although I'm realizing I should have posted this in Rules Q's and not in the main thread.. :( My bad.

(ooc: Wow, Grant, I'm sorry to hear about your health troubles. I for one don't mind players headed in different directions, with different motivations. If we roleplay ourselves separate ways, then that is fine with me. Don't stress over it. As you say, play your character the way that we see fit. Only, if I were to make one suggestion, please realize that we are trying to do the same. So, if we don't follow you, it isn't necessarily because we're meta-gaming or making bad tactical decisions.)
Mar 6, 2015 7:26 pm
Don't worry about it Grant, life is confusing enough without text based storytelling and health issues. I completely respected your decision by the way, I get very uppity about characters too and would rather see them dead, raped (sorry, harsh language, but it's true), and broken before they bow to something that isn't like them. Yui would have followed Tara if I knew she was taking Birtwood, I thought that she just wanted some time alone.

If Yui ends up stabbing Tara because of our rivalry, as long as it's in character, I'll defend that decision till the day we both die, so rest easy, dude :)
Feel better, I'm sending get better wishes Japanese style. Ganbatte to zettai akiramenai!

LOL Kai! But Tara doesn't have a rivalry with Yui.. Yui has one with Tara. ;) I wish I knew Japanese.. It'd make watching Anime easier.
I realize we are all RP'ing different ways, and *I* understand why you might not want to leave the portal.. but Tara has a different set of priorities she had to follow. The metagaming question was me not comprehending, the tactical 'lecture' was Tara's viewpoint of things, roleplay, and she escorted Birtwood to the surface because her priorities were different. As I said, if I were playing a different character, such as a greedy rogue, I'd have been on the other side of that portal with Utazo and probably already scouting it. I get the different motivations thing. I'll try to be more lax and relaxed..

~Eh.. Screw this. Let someone else be the ugly abhumans @#$%^ for a change~ Tara thinks, then steps through the portal.

OOC: I am glad you got that all out of your system while I was gone and were able to work things out.

I think I cleared the air a little in the "Rules" thread, but ... when I post something, it is because I assume we are all sitting around the table and everyone will hear it. If it is something that is targeted to a single person, like what would be said through a sheet of paper passed between GM and a player, it would be a PM. Now, that is not to say that when it is within a post, everyone in the party can act upon it. For example, I did not let Darazen nor Yui have a chance to see the shins pinging Tara because of distance. I did let Darazen act on the scanner because they were linked and because Darazen told him to look at it and was waiting.

Last thing, when you do have these discussion, I feel OOC is okay for a comment, a sentence or two. However if we need to stop the game to discuss something, please take it into the stragetizing thread. If the thread is too long, make a new one. If you cannot, then ask me and I will. Thank you.

With that, onto the game.

Okay, I am now making an assumption that you all have stepped through the portal. I know Khoren and Darazen were working with the scanner, but were also anxious to get through (and yes, Darazen, I got your memory roll in there somewhere, the reply will be a PM).

Thru the water:

As you step into the water curtain, you have the feeling of getting wet, but it is not all. You get the feeling of being pulled forward too and you see streaks of light pass by and through you. The tug gets stronger and you twist slightly. The pull subsides and you feel a dryness and warmth, the cool air. You find yourself on the other side of the synth frame, only this room is not a dome and not made of stone.

You are in the center of a room, 60 ft in all directions. Behind you is a synth frame just like in the domed room. The frame is clean and lights flickering on the sides with the same water flowing in the center.

The floor is a synth-mental, bright white and spotless. The room has three identical walls made of the same material as the floor. Four feet up the walls, the synth turns clear and as the walls meet the ceiling, the last six inches of the wall turns back to the bright white metal.

The ceiling is 12 feet above you and is the same stark white as the floor. There do not appear to be any seams. While there does not appear to be any glow panels visible, the room is well lit. The air is clean, clear of the musty smell of dirt and mud.

Inset into the wall directly in front of you, there appears to be a door. It it is closed and it too has a seamless, clear panel. There does not appear to be anything on the other side of the door from where you are standing.

Utazó turns and looks at everyone. When the last one comes through, she points to a sign above the door and chimes in, "Welcome to onba pha".
Mar 8, 2015 5:19 am
Stepping into the room, Yui shakes her head. "Trippy."
She crosses to the door and runs her hands along it's surface, fingers hesitating near the clear panel. "Hmm, someone with numenera know-how want to mess with this?" While waiting, Yui absentmindedly tries to remove the sign above the door.

Tara will move over to the door and stand guard should anything come through.. trying to give some semblance of safety to the others. She will look around the door to see if she sees any possible way of opening it.. but mostly she's taking position to guard it and give anyone notice if she sees or hears anyone coming.

Khoren will go to the wall and look out through the clear parts. He wraps his cloak around him defensively, but then absentmindedly, he draws the scanner out and checks the reading. *** Darazen, will you assist Yui? ***

Out loud, he says "We may need to retreat if we run into strong opposition. If the halls and rooms all look like this one, we may find it difficult finding our way back." He continues, "let's find out what this place is, and live to tell the tale to the people back home."
Mar 8, 2015 12:06 pm
Darazen looks around the room with a critical eye. "Looks rather sterile and synthetic. Even my mother didn't keep our house this clean." Darazen is curious about the materials. He sees Yui run to the door and try to take down the sign. Then he hears Khoren say **can you help Yui**. He raises an eyebrow and responds telepathically to Khoren, ***you want me to help take down the sign? Not my scene.*** Darazen was joking because he was pretty certain Khoren was reinforcing Yui's request to investigate the door.

Darazen moves towards the door and with a dramatic flourish, spreads his arms and chants a little. In truth the gesture isn't necessary at all, but he likes to do that so his companions know what he's doing.

OOC: After several cardio incidents, how else can you explain how you are still breathing? :D

Waiting on actions from Utazo and Vult.
Mar 8, 2015 4:07 pm
Utazó simply stands back and watches as she awaits both Khoren's reaction as he looks out the clear part of the wall, and Yui's as she approaches the door.
Mar 8, 2015 6:15 pm
"Joy" Vult will say flatly as he steps through the portal. Once on the other side, he'll take a look at the panel and the door. "I should be able to bypass this." He states, walking over to it and starting to get to work with his tools.

Utazó steps aside as the others come through. She folds her arms and watches as Khoren walks to the windows and Yui, Tara and Darazen step towards the door. A slight grin forms on her face while she waits to see their reactions to this strange place.

Khoren: Steps up to the window to look outside.

The building you are in is on a ridge of stark white rocks and dust. The sky is as dark as night and there are stars, more than you can count. Low on the horizon, a blue and white moon is starting to rise. The sun is on the opposite horizon. This place is like nothing you have ever seen before.

Looking below into the valley, there are scattered large domes connected by tubes. Most of the domes appear to be filled with fauna, vegetation and trees, though some appear to be smashed or damaged. Tubes run from the domes up the valley sides into smaller cubes, which in turn have tubes that run into other cubes of various sizes.

Like the domes, some of the cubes appear to be damaged and without power while others have lights. Some sections seem to better lit than others.

Across the valley on the opposing ridge is a large metal structure, oddly shaped and slanted to one side. The construction is not like what you are in. The metal is gray and the lights have a bluish tint. The tubes and cubes near it are smashed and broken, the damage extensive.

Yui, Tara and Darazen: You walk to the door and as you approach within 5 ft of it, it opens with a woosh (not a swish, we don't have license for that!). You see a hallway with stark white walls, going down about 60 feet before ending in a T intersection. As the party approaches the door, small square sections of the white wall start to glow and expose smooth glass panels, lighting up on the wall on either side (left and right about 4 ft from the floor) of the door.

Yui reaches for the top of the door and tries to remove the sign, only to realize it is not attached, but embedded or molded into the wall.

A glow flickers on the each wall as two panels fade in on the walls outside the door on either side.

Vult steps through the frame and looks around. Seeing the door, he falls in step with the rest. He sees the door open as Yui and Tara make their in front of it, taking up defensive positions. ooc: Hate to make you waste the roll, but the door is not locked.

Vult, et all: Each section of the panel will take an intellect check to decipher. Each success will lower the level of the next by one. Both panels look identical, down to the text. Tell me which panel (left or right) you wish to start on and then section you wish to start with first.

If someone else wants to start on the other panel, they can.
