Pyrrah shrugs. "Why not? " She burns the rest with as many bursts of fire as it takes.

Given a minute or two of torching each section of the trough, Pyrrah eventually burns away the entirety of the strange sludge.

OOC:
So is the name Pyhrra a play on "Pyro"?
Nov 30, 2016 4:53 am
OOC:
It wasn't initially, but the original character who bore this name nearly set a bar on fire when she was drunk and nearly torched the serving wench due to an unfortunate dice roll. I decided to carry that legacy forward. Soooo. Yes. :D
Pyrrah wipes her hand off on her pants even though there's nothing in it and looks at Ameera with a satisfied smirk. "Done! "

Devanis joins Ameera and Pyrrah, and studies the holy symbols etched in the trough.

"I recognize these symbols. This one means "purity". And these, "good health," and "warding," and this one here, "luck." This trough once held holy water. Holy water reacts to deeds and words in its proximity. If great evil occurs in the vicinity, holy water can become desecrated. I've never seen it happen, but perhaps this sludge is the result."

"Devanis, based on your knowledge, it seems to me that you're the closest thing to a holy man we've down here, do you have any way to consecrate this again? If not, it's just another loose end at our backs..... but probably not the worst one." Ameera moves to the east door and shifts Zubie from her shoulder to her arm so she can press her ear to the door and listen for any noise. "We'll have to move on soon."

"Consecrate? No, that's beyond me." Devanis checks his gear again. "I'm ready to move too. How's everyone?"

Baric rouses from his reclined relaxation, lifts a hand, and mumbles, I'm good to go too. What smells like smoke and sin?
Dec 1, 2016 11:26 am
"Ok Baric, I'll bite", Ameera grins "I don't know, what smells like smoke and sin?"
Dec 2, 2016 4:47 am
Ha. Ha.

Baric begins gathering his things and getting ready to go.

Here's another hint. It's the trough of formerly holy water and the pyro.

Pyrrah scowls. "If that's in reference to me, we could always have a sampling of fire-roasted dwarf. I hear from the elves that it's a delicacy... " Without lifting her expression, she says "I'm also ready to leave."
Dec 2, 2016 10:26 pm
"Save the fight for what we're going to find below! As luck would have it, I don't think there's anything ready to eat us just beyond the door." Grasping the door, Ameera glances toward Baric. "I thought you were going to keep our spirits up in the days ahead. We just got started and you've already no humor."
"Zubie, please scout ahead a bit invisibly and come back to let us know what to expect. "

Ameera opens the door half way, looking at what's ahead, and steps aside so the others can also see and Zubie can fly through.

Forgive me. I had just awoken to an awful scent. Such could put many in a foul mood.

Now really, what smells... Like smoke, and sin?

Zubie departs momentarily, slipping through the doorway that opens into a long, dark hallway. He reemerges some time later, holding a squirming rat in one of his claws. He begins speaking Common in a scratchy, light tongue, "Hallway bends left. Big rubble blocking the way. Can squeeze past. Door behind it." He eyes the rat a moment; the small creature squeaks and squirms in his grasp. "Hallway is broken, like the one over there," he gestures to the western door briefly, "It starts to tilt further downward closer to the door." He seems to solely address Ameera, barely acknowledging the presence of anyone else in the room.

"Well. Shall we." Devanis says after Zubie's report. Once everyone is ready to move he leads the way, crossbow ready, down the tunnel.

The door comes open and the party enters. The hallway here is broken and crumbling. The stones are chipped and crushed between one another as the weight of the land surrounding them seems to be pushing in ever so slightly. In certain areas the stones are missing, revealing a depth of rock and soil behind, with much of it spilled across the cobbled floors. The hallway bends left before long, and seems to take an uncomfortably steep descent after that. The slope here is not a natural part of the architecture, but rather it is likely a shifting of the structure within the ground. It is steep enough that caution must be taken to not lose balance. So long as you are not under pressure, you feel, it should not be an issue to stand upon.

Shortly down the slope, just 5 feet after the left-hand bend is a cave-in of sorts. The ceiling and right wall have collapsed and a large mass of stone and dirt have spilled into the hallway, nearly choking the entire space. The torchlight, however, shows the area that Zubie said one could "squeeze past," and he apparently meant those words literally. On the left side of the blockage, closer to the ceiling than the floor, is a small gap that looks like it would lead behind the cave-in. It is only perhaps two feet wide; three at most.
OOC:
No need to make Acrobatics checks to squeeze through, since you're able to take as much time as you'd like in order to succeed (if you have to do this during combat, it'll be a check). However, you cannot squeeze through with your backpacks on. So even though we aren't in rounds, simply make a mental note that to go through this obstacle you have to remove your backpack, crawl through, and then drag the backpack through behind you before putting it back on (or whatever way you figure to do it).

"Well, I think I can make it through with no trouble, Flare and Erran too. But Baric and Devanis .....are you willing to try?" Ameera stares at the small hole. "I can send Zubie through, then me then Erran. That way we have sight and strength on both sides to watch and help each through." She carefully climbs/reaches up to the gap pulling gently at the edges. "Maybe we can make it a bit wider, we will be pushing on it to squeeze by anyway."
