Eh, hitting things and seeing what comes out hasn't hurt Elma so far. She slings a shot at the hanged woman.

Rolls

Elma Mork Borg: Old Sigurd's Sling - Attack - (1d20+0)

(11) = 11

Elma Mork Borg: Old Sigurd's Sling - Damage - (2d4)

(22) = 4

With the door closed, Borda turns to the hanging woman. "Anyone hanging that long should be struggling to breath, no yelling for help."

He fires his sling as well.

Rolls

Presence Stealthy - (d20-1)

(14) - 1 = 13

Damage - (d4)

(3) = 3

Merkari attempts to free the woman but is unsuccessful. Perhaps that's a lucky turn of events as the others seem to agree that this woman is a thread and go for an attack.

Both Elma and Borda manage to hit the woman, one of the bullets hitting her straight in the temple. She slumps and hangs in a way that you would expect from a dead person.

The hold that she had on Merkari fades, leaving her confused as to why she was helping the hanged woman in the first place.

On the walls, the other heads go silent. Possibly not wanting to suffer the same fate.
The layout of the room is still the same as when you entered in before meeting Malista. You see one door on the far end, leading to where you met the buttler. And one door to your right leading to the hallway with the statues.

What would you like to do?

Jotna turns to the others and asks, "So, I don't get it... is this the same room we was in before, but now we can see it clearly, without Malista's glamor making it look nice? Or is this, like, an alternate version of the world? If we walk back to the dining room, are we gonna find Malista? Where's the villain here? Ugh I need a drink..." While she talks, she searches the room.

"Oh, no, she died," Merkari says. Giggling, the madwoman searches the room.

Oh good, she died, thinks Borda as he turns to search the room. "I'm not sure either place was exactly what we saw, but she did say not to trust what we see."

Rolls

Search - (2d6)

(22) = 4

"I-I think whatever is happening, we are going to meet very different versions of the butler and Malista, whichever way we go. Maybe what we're here to fight is in the dining room then? O-oh, and we have that librarian and weird merchant who helped us on the way to the dining room. S-should we see what the butler was hiding in the entrance?"

Elma goes to one of the lamps now that the ghastly heads are quieted down to re-light her lamp and then use its light to look about the room more carefully.

Rolls

Search - (2d6)

(44) = 8

Jotna says, "yeah, ok that makes sense. I guess those dreamers were, like, dreaming the place we saw, and this is the real thing. But doesn't that mean that a dream version of Malista sent us to kill the real Malista? How's that work?" Her head started hurting, so she waved off the thoughts and searched the room.

Merkari

Inside a broken cabinet you find a small metal jar. It's about the size of a pill box and it's filled with a white-ish cream. You touch it with one of your fingers and the tip of your finger starts itching like crazy.
Borda

You take a closer look at the heads mounted on the wall. One of them has a necklace made of human teeth. One of the teeth is golden. Do you try to grab it?
OOC:
Agility test DR10 to grab it without being attacked.

Elma

You turn on your lantern and it pays off immediately. With the extra light you find, just lying on the floor in a corner, a wooden mask. It's got crude carvings and tribal decorations. You hold it into the light to get a better look at it and notice its carved and painted features resemble Merkari's face.
Jotna

You kick a piece of wood lying close to you and hear the clinking of a stone launched across the floor. You follow the sound to what looks like an amber colored gem. But when you pick it up, it feels warm to the touch. You try to turn it over but it sticks to your fingers and you notice that it's melting. Pretty soon it's not a gem anymore, but a goop sticking to your hand like hot wax. The substance starts to burn and hurt you.

Take 1d2+1 damage.

Not long after, you hear a voice that only you can hear. "Come to me. Follow me. Be mine!"
OOC:
Roll a DR8 presence test please.
Jul 16, 2025 2:29 am
Jotna curses and says, "Ugh! It's like hot wax!" She tries to wipe the melting goop off onto the wall or a nearby object.

EDIT: Took 2 damage, but have -1d2 armor and negated the 2 damage.

OOC:
Sorry Drgwen, I forgot to mention this damage ignores armor as it corrodes its way through any gloves you may be wearing.

OOC:
Human bites are nasty and human bites from severed heads have to be awfully nasty. Borda will pass on the golden tooth.

Elma will pour some of the water from her waterskin onto Jotna's hands.

"G-got to keep it clean and cool."
OOC:
First aid with what we got, in case that helps any.
As Jotna hopefully wraps up the injury with some clean cloth, she will show the mask she found to Merkari.

"D-do you think this was for you?"

She gestures over to Merkari and while they look it over, she muses aloud, "E-everything is so different here. Is it possible this is where Malista gets her p-power from? C-could we possibly get some ourselves?"
Jul 17, 2025 10:21 am
"Maybe. I found some itch cream! Trade?" Merkari asks Elma.
Jul 17, 2025 1:35 pm
Jotna shakes her hand in pain and curses a bit. Is there anything left of the goop?

She accepts the cloth as a bandaid and thanks Elma, then she turns to the others and says, "Guessing we should press on, yeah?"
Jul 17, 2025 2:58 pm
Elma shrugs her shoulders and trades with Merkari for the itch cream. She is careful to not touch the inside and put it away in her pack.

"D-deal. I don't like its smell..."

She then nods about moving on and heads to the door to the butler.

"S-should we check out this side real quick? We can also see if there is an emergency exit this way?"
Jul 18, 2025 6:41 am
With Elma's help, Jotna manages to get rid of the sticky goo on her fingers. The pain subsides but leaves a tingling sensation.
