It seems to be an ordinary chest.

Rolls

Secret Roll

Dec 19, 2016 12:18 pm
Not spotting anything wrong with the chest, Tosti will kick it open. There still might be traps or a giant bat living in there, so he doesn't want to get to close.
Dec 20, 2016 4:54 am
You throw the chest open with your foot but instead of finding an interior you see a terrible maw. It rends at your leg inflicting a terrible cut. The flesh of this beast is adhesive so it still has a firm grasp on your leg.

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (15) + 5 = 20

1d20+5 : (16) + 5 = 21

Grapple - (1d20+5)

(5) + 5 = 10

Damage - (1d8+3)

(7) + 3 = 10

Dec 20, 2016 5:39 am
With his leg still caught on the chest, Tosti attempts to free himself form the adhesive. If he manages to break out, or just get lucky with his sword, he'll make two slashing attacks.

Rolls

Break the grapple (Athletics) - (1d20+6)

(18) + 6 = 24

Sword Attacks - (1d20+6, 1d20+6)

1d20+6 : (18) + 6 = 24

1d20+6 : (2) + 6 = 8

Potential Damage - (1d8+5, 1d8+5)

1d8+5 : (4) + 5 = 9

1d8+5 : (2) + 5 = 7

You manage to pull yourself clear, and land a solid blow on the monsters hide. A pair of arms burst forth from the chests mouth and rakes at you but it misses.

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+5)

(7) + 5 = 12

Dec 27, 2016 4:13 am
What?! Arms in its mouth, this thing is dangerous.

Tosti slashes with his sword, fully intending on killing the creature quickly.

Rolls

Sword Attacks - (1d20+6, 1d20+6)

1d20+6 : (11) + 6 = 17

1d20+6 : (2) + 6 = 8

(615) + 5 = 17

Attack 2 Damage - (1d8+5)

(6) + 5 = 11

Athletics (If I get stuck again) - (1d20+6)

(5) + 6 = 11

Dec 27, 2016 10:38 pm
Your first blow slashes across the arm of the monster causing it to start uttering the sickening giggle. The second blow though bounces harmlessly of the chests side. The monster leaps forward as a long pair of legs spring out of the base of the chest, lid taking at your flesh.

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+5)

(17) + 5 = 22

Damage (peircing,acid) - (2d8+3)

(52) + 3 = 10

Tosti makes two more attacks, using more divine energy to wound the strange enemy.

Your strike seems to slay the beast, it melts into a strange silvery mist. Leaving behind no souls but a golden javelin emblazoned with ensigns of the sun.
Dec 30, 2016 3:48 am
Good thing that's over, those fangs were sharp!

Tosti picks up the new weapon, eager to inspect it closer at a bonfire. Afterwards, he'll lay his hands on any wounds to heal them with Tyr's energy.

He'll continue looking around the tower, using his divine sense to sniff out any lurking hollows. If there's nothing else of interest, he'll head back to the bonfire.
Jan 1, 2017 7:03 am
You scrounge around the base of the tower and find a corpse which has another feeble estus gemtus gem. There's still the first floor of the tower, which remains intact above the bonfire.
Jan 1, 2017 8:28 am
Tosti picks up the lucky find wiht a grin, and heads up to the first floor cautiously. He activated his divine sense to sniff out any evil or undead, and keeps an eye out for anything out of place.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20)

(3) = 3

Jan 1, 2017 8:39 am
You cautiously ascend the stairs, there is no threat upstairs but there is a man dressed in priests robes he cries out uncertainly Hello? is there anyone there? You notice that he has a cane in his lap, the man is probably blind.

"Greetings, I am Tosti of Hvall. What's a man like you doing in such a dangerous forest?"

I have lived here my whole life. This was my waypoint, I used to care for this stop on the pilgrims way. Is that what your here for?
Jan 1, 2017 9:36 am
"Oh, you're a local? I'm new here, so I don't know much. Where does the 'pilgrims way' lead? What's a waypoint?"

Seeing that the man is friendly, Tosti sits on the ground across from him.

The waypoint is a resting place on the pilgrims journey. This particular shrine is important as it here the pilgrims pay their respects to the ashen tomb; After all not any old pilgrim can enter the tomb. The next and final stop on the pilgrims way is the Firekeep. But the pilgrims have stopped coming, we haven't seen any for centuries.
Jan 1, 2017 10:36 am
"Ooh, so it's like a journey. In the Order of the Ancients we only ever stayed in one place! Which god is worshiped at the ashen tomb?"

Tosti drinks some water before resuming the conversation.

"So I'm the first to come here in a long time?"
