OOC:
I think it's THREE successes as the one counts double?
Dec 7, 2016 6:22 pm
OOC:
You may be right. I couldn't remember if there was anything special about rolling a 1. I'll have to look through the rules more closely.
Dec 7, 2016 7:05 pm
OOC:
Falryx is correct:  "The character then rolls two d20s. Each die that rolls equal to or less than the Target Number scores a single Success. Each die that rolls a 1, or equal to or less than an applicable Focus for that Task, scores two Successes." You have one momentum. If you don't use it right away I'll assume you save it. Anyhow, I'll go ahead with the next npc. You did 4 damage + 1 effect, and 2 damage + 1 effect was soaked, so you end up with 2 damage.
As Nadim's target reels from the phaser hit, Sevek's phaser burst hits the primitive humanoid in the upper arm, making him scream with rage. Another one charges towards the away team and tries to hit Ensign Martinez with an improvised club.
OOC:
This will be an opposed task. "For a melee Attack, the attacker attempts a Bravery + Security Task with a Difficulty of 1,
opposed by the target’s Bravery + Security (also Difficulty 1). If the target wins the
Opposed Task, then they are considered to have made a successful Attack instead." Whoever gets the most successes above 1 wins the opposed task. Whomever wins may do melee damage.

Rolls

Melee attack, Target number 10 - (2d20)

(37) = 10

Dec 7, 2016 8:07 pm
OOC:
Actually I think only 1 damage + 1 effect was soaked. The 3 = 0 on [CD] IIRC?

And a good place for Martinez to use our momentum to ensure he succeeds in his defense.

Quite right. Forgot about the "ignore 3 and 4". Hope this gets better as I get used to it, seems overly complicated atm. Thanks for checking my numbers. :)

Bravery and Security = 9 + 1 (2d20, use 1M +d20)
OOC:
Looks like 4 successes

Rolls

Bravery - (1d20)

(8) = 8

Security - (1d20)

(1) = 1

Momentum - (1d20)

(9) = 9

OOC:
4 successes it is. go ahead and roll damage (2[CD] in your case). you also have 2 new momentum you may chose to spend or save in the group pool. for example, you may spend momentum for Bonus Damage (1 momentum = 1 damage). The turn passes to the away team, so any of you (except Sevek or Nadim) may act next.
The creature is surprised by the quick and practiced reactions of Martinez, who hits the aggressor square in the jaw.

Cmbrian says:
Thyran stumbles out of the head, wiping his mouth on his sleeve and holding his own head, "Who the devil is driving this tin can?!"

He turns toward the con, only to see Francisco and Phenna staring daggers at him. Just as he is about to offer his opinion on theirs, he hears the sound of phaser fire and shouting outside the ship!

Instantly shaking off the last effects of his hangover, he draws his phaser, heads to the door and says, to no one in particular, "Situation report!"
OOC:
sorry I'm late to the show -- started a new job this week! I didn't catch that the shuttle was dark and empty, so I'm slightly modifying Thyran's reaction...
Thyran stumbles out of the head, wiping his mouth on his sleeve and holding his own head, "Who the devil is driving this tin can?!" -- but his words get stuck in his throats as he emerges into a dark cabin, and winces at the bitter smell of burning wires.

Instantly shaking off the last vestiges of a hangover, he follows the emergency lighting to the door. Hearing shouting and phaser fire, he draws his weapon and leaps from the shuttle.
OOC:
should he fire, or take an attack first?

OOC:
No worries. I'm unsure what you are asking about by the way. You may fire your phaser at anyone (a difficulty 2 task), or you may move into close combat with the one fighting Martinez (an opposed task with difficulty 1). One of the creatures is reeling from two phaser shots (and another one may bring it down), and the one next to Martinez has suffered a punch to the face (not sure of damage yet, as starwarsrpggm needs to roll it.) Note that the ones not in combat with Martinez has cover (2[CD) soak).
Dec 8, 2016 6:49 pm
OOC:
ah, sorry -- meant to ask it he could attach or if it was the opponents turn.
Seeing a crew mate in direct peril, Thyran runs to Martinez' attacker and attempts to bludgeon him to unconsciousness!

Bravery 11 + Security 5
Focus Hand to Hand Combat 4
6[CD]
OOC:
let me try to interpret this -- 2 successes, and if that wins the opposed task, is that 4 total CD with 2 effects?

Rolls

Unarmed Strike - (2d20, 6d6)

2d20 : (138) = 21

6d6 : (625134) = 21

Dec 8, 2016 7:08 pm
OOC:
It's a tie, two successes each, which means player characters win (unless I choose to spend a Threat, but I'll hold off for now). So Thyran wins! You 4 damage + 2 effects. The effect of your melee attack is knockdown, so he is proned.
As Ensign Thyran wrenches the creature off Martinez and throws it to the ground with a great thud.

Rolls

Melee oppposed check, Target number 10 - (2d20)

(313) = 16

Dec 8, 2016 7:18 pm
OOC:
I think he has 5 damage + 2 effects. 1 + 2 + 1 (6) + 1 (5) = 5
Dec 8, 2016 7:19 pm
OOC:
is success for a d20 rolling equal or less than target?
Dec 8, 2016 7:19 pm
The creature that's wielding the phaser seems to be studying how you point and shoot them, he looks at his own, then points and tries to mimic your movements. As it fires, he panics and drops it. The shot goes wild, way over your heads.

Rolls

Accidental phaser attack. Target number 7 - (2d20)

(113) = 14

OOC:
Your melee damage is listed as 2[CD] Knockdown, so it's 2d6, where 1=1, 2=2, 3=0, 4=0, 5=1+effect, 6=1+effect. The effect for your melee is knockdown (but it's already prone now, so that won't matter)
Dec 8, 2016 7:25 pm
OOC:
Oh and the turn passes to the away team again, any of you (except Sevek, Nadim or Thyran) may act next (even Martinez, since his melee attack was initiated by the npc, not him, so it spent the NPC task, not Martinez's).
Dec 8, 2016 7:34 pm
Phenna makes her way out of the shuttle finally, momentarily dazed by the harder than normal landing. With her phaser out, and set to stun, she takes aim at the one that just dropped the phaser and triggers her own.
OOC:
Going to include damage with the attack roll, so as to not have to post additional rolls.....gulp.

Rolls

Phaser Shot (Control 9 + Security 2 = TN 11) - (2d20)

(152) = 17

Damage roll (If applicable) - (4d6)

(2232) = 9

I should have waited and acted after another crewman: - Quick to Action: During the first round of any combat, if you have not yet acted, your allies may ignore the normal cost to retain the initiative so long as the turn order is handed to you.

OOC:
Well, now we know for next time. New system and new rules for everybody :)
Phenna has a hard time aiming as she comes out into the blinding outside, and hits a tree right by the humanoid with the phaser. The last creature, the one reeling from being hit by Nadim and Sevek's phasers regains his posture and charges towards Nadim, club raised over his head.
OOC:
Last NPC moves into melee. Opposed check vs Nadim.

Rolls

Melee attack, Target number 10 - (2d20)

(49) = 13
