PC Remarks
-save 2 M to pool
-at work how or what do i roll for damage
OOC:
Your melee damage is listed as 2[CD] Knockdown, so it's 2d6, where 1=1, 2=2, 3=0, 4=0, 5=1+effect, 6=1+effect. The effect for your melee is knockdown (but it's already prone now, so that won't matter)
The snarling beast lunged with a club and for his efforts was clubbed right back with a Martinez left hook straight to the jaw. The creature staggered backwards a bit and the friendly follow up of a crew-mate who landed a blow then sent the primitive to the ground
OOC:
PC Remarks
-equals 2 damage plus an effect
-key the background fight music

Rolls

Damage - (2D6)

(26) = 8

Dec 9, 2016 3:56 am
OOC:
Phenna - you can pull a momentum die out of the pool and try and beat your 11 for another success?
Dec 11, 2016 7:15 pm
OOC:
Still waiting for opposed check from Nadim, then the turn passes to the away team again, any of you (except Sevek, Nadim, Thyran or Phenna) may act next.
Dec 13, 2016 2:55 pm
OOC:
I'm just gonna move this along, and roll the opposed check for Nadim.

Edit: Two successes.
Edit: 4 damage + 3 effects.
The creature that rushed Nadim is swiftly dealt with. He recieves a swift phaser-butt in the face and is knocked out.
OOC:
Martinez: You're up. After that we'll get a new round of combat. The NPC's start the next round.

Rolls

Opposed melee, target number 13 - (2d20)

(712) = 19

Damage - (4d6)

(5525) = 17

OOC:
Ill just skip Martinez, and go ahead with the story.
As one of them is knocked down, the morale of the others are broken and the rest of the primitive humanoids retreat into the forest. You can see the science station on a hill a few kilometers due north of the crash site.
OOC:
You are out of combat and can act in any order you'd like
Dec 15, 2016 1:21 pm
Taking charge in what is clearly a hostile situation, Thurman knows that structure and confident leadership is key to keep a crew on task.

"The science station is this way. Ensign Phenna, please secure the shuttle. Everyone gather whatever supplies you can from the hold. I'll take point. Ensign Martinez, please cover our flank. Phasers out, set to stun."

"Dr. Patil, are we ready to go?"

Aye Ensign Kaleel. Phenna said as she turned back to the shuttle. Climbing aboard she began running through what systems still worked after the crash, ensuring they were keyed and locked to all but those members of Starfleet designated as passengers on the ship.
Dec 16, 2016 3:50 am
Nadim grabs his medical bag and announces his preparation to the team. Phaser and briefcase in hand, he is ready to proceed and feeling quite pleased for not only hitting the primitive but also knocking one out with some clever self defense. He's confident the instructor back at Starfleet, Commander Martev, would be.. well not pleased exactly (being a Vulcan) but... satisfied with his performance.

You secure the shuttle, and make ready for the trek to the outpost. It is obvious that the march to the science outpost is no simple stroll. The journey covers several kilometers, and the terrain between you and your goal is rough and rocky, with strange and abundant flora blocking the path.

After a few minutes trek across the hostile landscape you come across a deep but narrow ravine in your path. On the other side you spot a large slab of rock that looks like it could (very conveniently) be used as a makeshift bridge.
OOC:
Crossing the ravine alone is a Resilience + Security Task with a difficulty of 4. Remember that you can use the Improving the Odds options (buy extra dice by spending Momentum, Determination, adding to Threat etc.) Also, note that this is the first instance of a Challenge.

OOC:
so if 1 person gets across they can try to move the stone into position as a bridge?

Clearly Thyran will attempt this. I see this as an effort to climb down one side, then up the other. Is it not a climb but a jump? Could other characters help by getting and securing a big branch to help the climb down?

How much determination were we each given -- 4 or 5?

OOC:
you have 4 each
Dec 18, 2016 5:40 am
OOC:
hey crew -- can Thyran get an assist or two? It's a steep ravine and he'll be climbing down then up again. If someone could stabilize the climb down (vines? long branch?) or be a spotter for a good path and or hand/footholds on the way up, it would be much appreciated

Resilience 9 + security 5 is a 14 target.
I see 2 momentum in the pool, is that legit? If so, spend 1 for one bonus die.
Spend one determination for one bonus d20 showing 1 for two successes.

3d20 to get 2 more successes sound right? If that momentum has expired, please let me know and I'll consider another source of bonus dice. Can I get an assist attempt from someone? Be creative when combining abilities and skills!
Thyran studies the ravine for a few minutes, planning the best route he can. He then hoists himself over the edge, grabbing whatever roots or rocks he can to support his weight during the descent. He'll be sure to create an obvious path for anyone else following (future assist?).
OOC:
woohoo! No assist needed! 5 successes, so 1 momentum!
He carefully pulls himself up the other side using the exposed roots and rock outcroppings he saw when he planned his route, and makes it to the top, all the while scraping the dirt and snapping little branches to indicate his successful path.

Rolls

Traverse the ravine! - (3d20)

(10107) = 27

Dec 18, 2016 12:07 pm
In an act of truly amazing bravery, Thyran hoists himself down into the ravine, pushes off near side, and catches himself on the far side. With little effort he hoists himself up on the far side without breaking a sweat.
OOC:
Nice going :) pushing the boulder over will be a Resilience + Security or Control + Science Task with a Difficulty of 3. Once it's in place, crossing will be a Control + Security Task with a Difficulty of 1
Dec 19, 2016 2:26 am
"I'll see if I can move the boulder into position to act as a bridge!"
OOC:
Target: resilience 9 + security 5 = 14
Spend another point of Determination for a d20 valued at 1 (two successes!)
Let the newly earned momentum go to the group for their bridge crossing.
Roll 2d20 for one more success.
Thyran opts for the brute force method of boulder relocation and puts his shoulder into it!

Rolls

Turn the boulder into a bridge! - (2d20)

(178) = 25

Dec 19, 2016 7:07 am
OOC:
Well spent determination there.
Thyran pushes over the boulder which falls with a great big thump, perfectly spanning the ravine.
OOC:
The rest of you may cross with a Control + Security Task with a Difficulty of 1.
Dec 19, 2016 11:33 am
Phenna tries crossing the bridge, delicately attempting to pick her way across.

Rolls

Control + Security = TN 11 - (2d20)

(1910) = 29

Dec 19, 2016 6:58 pm
Phenna makes it allright.
Dec 19, 2016 8:36 pm
Martinez grunts as he traverses the makeshift bridge
OOC:
PC Remarks
- succeeds twice

Rolls

Crossing the makeshift bridge - (2d20)

(47) = 11

Dec 19, 2016 9:07 pm
OOC:
Nicely done. Ill mark that up as another momentum.
Dec 21, 2016 2:01 pm
Sevek quietly follows his comrades across the bridge.

Rolls

Control (10) + Security (1) = TN 11 - (1d20, 1d20)

1d20 : (2) = 2

1d20 : (17) = 17
