OOC:
is it ok if we talk about a strategy for this real quick?
Feb 25, 2017 7:03 pm
OOC:
I feel like I can talk the troll of I can taunt him into combat with me and that way everyone else can focus on the boat and once we are clear everyone can come to help.
Feb 25, 2017 7:14 pm
OOC:
dm is there any way I can increase my defense by focusing mainly on shield blocking? Like instead of taking my action to attack I take it to prepare to block.
Feb 25, 2017 9:29 pm
OOC:
Yes, you can take the Dodge action instead of attacking. It makes all attacks against you be at disadvantage.
Feb 25, 2017 10:33 pm
OOC:
If Cemos is willing to take the heat Dustin will pole like crazy instead
Feb 25, 2017 11:03 pm
OOC:
The way I'm going to work this is that you all aren't in the vortex YET. You've been pulled 10 feet toward it. Anyone tending to poles and tiller (max 5) will be able to partake in a group Athletics check. If the check succeeds, you can change your speed by up to 30 feet per round in any direction. Currently you are moving toward the vortex at 40' per round. So if you were to want to come to a full stop and then head backwards, you'd need 2 rounds of successful checks. Alternatively, you can change your movement and position to shoot at an angle and try to outrun the vortex. Right now, that's also 2 rounds of successful checks from where you are now. You have Francis, Eldreth, Shuushar, Georges, and Stool that could fill all boat positions if you wanted to focus on the troll. Or you could move people like Stool and Francis (who are physically weaker) into combat and have you heavier hitters STR wise onto the poles to better succeed. Your choice.

OOC:
I am faster then strong.
Feb 26, 2017 5:06 pm
OOC:
ok if like to try that unless anyone has a better idea.so for my turn I will move in front of the beast and action dodge with bonus action buff ac with +2 on myself.... fee action I'll say I bet you can hit me you dumb troll.
Feb 26, 2017 5:07 pm
OOC:
a little upset with myself that I dropped the taunt from my spell list right now but I'll just try to antagonize them into fighting me.
Feb 27, 2017 1:42 pm

OOC:
I was gone say Dustin that I could just as easily give you the ac buff and you can solo the troll and I will focus on getting the boat out of the vortex. It's up to you.
Feb 27, 2017 2:49 pm
OOC:
I dont have the health to stand up to the troll. I am much better tag teaming with a melee combatant.
Feb 27, 2017 4:51 pm
OOC:
Roger that.
Cemos tells the crew to man the oars and then turns dramatically to the troll and says in a brash voice
I've got this! cemos opens a portal of light above his head and a single strand of beard hair from the great Lord of the mountain drops upon his brow. With with luscious locks flowing from the dwarfs face he runs towards the troll taunting him all the way and prepares battle.
OOC:
dodge action.

bildaweer focus on getting the boat out of the whirlpool. Don't antagonize the beast.
Feb 28, 2017 1:27 am
Dustin's bolt drills into the beast's side as two of Bildaweer's beams lance across the beam's stomach, causing the smell of burning flesh to rise up. Cemos yells at the creature just as the damaging blows hits and it looks, clearly confused, between those that hurt it and the small creature with metal-bound fury in his face.

Fang, Shuushar, Eldreth, Georges, and Francis work on getting the boat under control, succeeding on starting out of the whirlpool's grasp.

Stool slices at the creature, missing.

The beast bites at Cemos, missing. However, the two follow-up claws both hit, slicing into you, dealing 15 points of damage (21 before reduction).

PCs up.

Cemos grunts as the beast rakes it's claws across his chest. He is more upset with the fact that the creature was actually able to hit him then he was about the damage it delt. Still he raises his shield and prepares himself for another onslaught. Is that all you've got you foul smelling ape! Your mother takes up more space than a gelatinous Cube!
OOC:
As a move action I will make my way to a side of the boat that is not occupied by my friends and coax the troll to come at me, my action will be getting ready to dodge and if your ok with it I would like to bonus action grab my potion of hill giant strength. My idea is to taunt him over to the edge of the ship and dodge his attack. On my next turn I want to drink the potion and try to shove him off the edge into the whirlpool. If that's no Bueno just let me know and I'll just adjust the move action to keeping him away from my homies.

OOC:
There's not really anywhere to move him to on the boat. Ignoring the names in the image below, the red area is where the troll is. The white spaces are the only areas it could conceivably stand in. Now, you could try getting him to shift the 5 feet, but it's not like you have a ton of space to work in. Remember also, this creature has fins on both legs and arms and appears to have gills. ;)

As for your plan, since I don't think you have a potion belt or anything like that, it'd be an action to find your potion and a free action to consume it (so you'd have to forgo your dodge for one round to find the potion, and then you can freely drink and try manhandling him or something of that nature).

Cemos, can you stand more of that ? Dustin called out concerned after seeing Cemos so brutally struck.
Feb 28, 2017 3:47 pm
don't you worry yourself lad! I've seen more threatening geckos as cemos says this he thinks about the potion and looks to the creature...
you would make a nice belt!?! Hummmm.
OOC:
Maybe just one or 2 more rounds lol. That hurt tehe. As for my plan I'll just rinse and repeat the dodge for now. If still got a good chunk of points and as long as I can keep him focused on me everyone else can get us out of this mess.
