As Dustin pokes around, looking all over the chamber, he finds an area of the stone where there seem to be some depressions in particular form. They seem to reflect the light a bit. To those "in the know", you recognize the Undercommon script.
Under the inscription you can just make out a series of cuts in the wall, forming what appears to be seven buttons about a foot long and 7 inches tall in the rock face. If not for the light and close inspection, it's likely you'd miss them.
For ascent, those most surrounded must retreat first. The unguarded will be the last to abandon their home.

It's undercommon and says "For ascent, those most surrounded must retreat first. The unguarded will be the last to abandon their home." I think it's referring to the buttons.

I would think we'd be ascending. Cemos said he recognized this contraption as a duergar elevator of some sort.

SO the furthest buttons first it would seem. Starts pressing the outer most buttons working inward.

Cemos will take a look at the dwarven inscription. perhaps Ander could press them and we could stay on the boat. Maybe we could tie a rope around him and fasten it to the ship, that way if we start to ascend we can pull him up with the Rope

As Dustin begins to push the buttons, the first one recedes into the wall and remains there for about 2 seconds before sliding back out to form a flush surface.
Feel free to indicate which order you hit the buttons in. This is their configuration at about 3 feet off the ground.
