Jabes! I'm glad your girlfriend is doing well and I hope for a quick recovery.

This seems like a perfect time for all of us to take a break and decide what we want with our characters.

Re: Xanathars guide, I have almost read it cover to cover and wow, there's lots to chew on there.

The DM section is fantastic and the new subclasses look really solid.

Xanathar's -- just a pic of the table of contents, and I'm buying it for my self and my oldest as soon as we have a bit of cash to spare!

Good news to hear Jabes. And yeah... in all seriously, have your woman write that guide J mentioned lol. It could only benefit the eorld.

CB:

Good stuff to hear you're coming back man. Love what you bring to the game and Maeriks is a dope character.

Hope the work situation goes exactly how you want it to.

Look forward to hearing from you on the boards again.

• Ivor vs. Pounder
• Ivor's pile-on roll vs. Hasticha
• Bryn and Ivor are randomly selected as participants in the final combat that kills infamous Warlord Diucill.
Fuck, I can't make up my mind what new Feat to take! Narrowed it down to the following. Dunno if Trident Mastery is still on the table but I don't really see it winning here.
[ +- ] Martial Adept
[ +- ] Mobile
[ +- ] Savage Attacker
[ +- ] Spear Trident Mastery
If I go Martial Adept (representative of learning some new moves while at Mercon's) then I gotta pick two new maneuvers.

Mobile looks really versatile. I'd put Trident Mastery over savage attacker... it gives you more combat options, damage and the hit bonus.

Martial adept... meh... gotta ask yourself if you need more maneuvers and a maneuver die at this point.
Nov 23, 2017 4:33 pm
Yeah I feel like I already have the maneuvers I want for now. Trident Mastery is interesting. I wouldn't have taken it earlier (before I got Extra Attack) because Retiarius was dependent was dependent on my bonus action. But now yeah it's some pretty cool versatility. Mobile is useful for the OA negation. Savage Attacker is always on and doesn't give me one more thing to think about.
Nov 23, 2017 6:41 pm
Always on is good, but Savage applies to only one attack. The increased dX damage from Trident Mastery will apply to all attacks. Which will be a nice difference maker the more attacks you have. Not to mention that your action surge will benefit well from the extra dX on all attacks.

And the +1 to hit & receive charge stance.

Mobile though... that combat versatility of distance and controlling the engagement... a faster, mobile Ivor with a net... pretty sweet.

Jabes.plays.RPG says:
Tosi was nicknamed Pounder because of his savage skill with the Mace-axe. ...

Slaver and ex-slave traded blows and insultsfor almost an hour until both men were cut and bruised without either one really gaining the upper hand. But Pounder, wielding the heavier weapon and the bigger mouth, had begun to falter and Ivor easily capitalized on it, finally netting the slaver and skewering him fast to the deck of the Howl. Ivor then scuttled the knar, burning Tosi alive on board.
Really cool summer vacation for Ivor, Jabes. Worth the boat fare and the time off from work.

Oh shit! Bryn just got slippery as fuck, he has Uncanny Dodge now.

JAIL! LOL, that's gangsta! Pay the 10GP fine WTF.
Wow. The VERY WORST party tour result possible. A roll of 1?!
Jabes, I think Ivor is getting off easy to be honest. Good thing this isn't an AD&D 1e chart, bro! Back in the day a roll of 1 on a ramped-result chart would have probably delivered at least rape with VD while in jail, if not castration by a scorned whore along with it.
Hell yeah I remember those days well!

I briefly considered having Ivor resist arrest (seems in character) or the other extreme, to actually go to jail (not likely, given his feelings about incarceration of any kind) but fuck it, it's just 10GP and Ivor's rolling in it!

I landed the new job, but don't start until Jan 2nd. My over-tasking current job is winding down now and I can enjoy playing story games online once again.

Oh man... so much reading. I'm way behind. Someone point me to a post that will get me up to speed ASAP and then I can take time to go through the backlog over the next few days.

Y'all,

I'm facing it that I'm pretty buried at work for the rest of the week. I can't kick of the Ep 2 launch until the evening Friday 8 December at the earliest, might have to shift it to the weekend.

Sorry for the continuous shift right. A lot of end of the year stuff hitting me all at once plus some unexpected bonus tasks. I'll definitely get some time free coming up later in the month, so we'll get a good flow going.

So...Episode 2 STARTS FRIDAY 8 DEC OR SATURDAY 9 DEC.

I know that is off of our traditional schedj, but what's new.

Great to see Brewski back in action. Congrats on the job, CB! Great way to start a new year (that start date works out great on tax filing too btw).

CB, here's my shot at a quick review.

AAR Thread is just critique and housekeeping topics. Optional. No need to focus on that.

Admin is the same old thing. Bullshitting around, jokes, pictures, scheduling. Can skip that.

So the story stuff is in Interim 1 thread. It's what's been going on for the last year plus for the characters.

#1 Post I think to cut right to the chase: where are you guys going? To the city of Gelshemish in Heshba.
All of the posts in a row after that keep giving more and more detail about the party's experience in a Heshba port city and what they learn there about the region.

After that, here's my top 5 earlier Interim posts that I would pick to highlight:

1) Wrap up of many Ep 1 topics

2) DM Progress Grants

3) Party members each do their own thing for a while

4) Party reunites to go to war: here, here, here, and here.

5) Party has a reflective night in the Draw Gap region of the Danneinkiff after the war, reunited with old friends, and time to talk it through and decide to launch on a life of adventure.

Also, here's a bonus: J talking about Maeriks behind your back when we hadn't heard from you in a while.

Y'all,

I'm hoping to kick off Ep 2 either tonight (Fri 8 Dec) or in the morning (Sat). Weekend off-cycle intro!

Thanks for the Interim down time, both real world and game world. Now I'm excited about getting back into ACTIVE PLAY!

Finish up character updates. Send me any odds and ends that we need to wrap up quick if there are any.

Last chance to talk reflection, critique, housekeeping, etc. on AAR is probably today and this weekend. I will be deleting that thread probably Sunday.

Admin will stay up as-is I've decided. It's part of the infrastructure around here, right?

See you soon on the new Ep 2 board!

Can't wait to rock Heshba!

Some random questions:
1. Will Commitment to Contract still be in play?
2. I had two successful Carouse rolls. Does that mean I have two of those shiny Carouse bonuses?

Yo, Jabes. "Rock the Heshba" is the theme song I'll keep in my head when I'm posting about local info during Ep 2.

1. CTC can come into play if you guys get into a contract that meets the requirements to motivate like that. There is no current contract in operation like that now I don't think, but if you develop an employer and a mission and that level of paycheck - then yeah. Anything left over from the past is definitely gone now though. I think you guys as mercenaries are a bit on shaky ground to some degree on the code. You chose to defy the last contract. So maybe you should think it over. Maybe this crowd is disillusioned with contracts, now looking more towards treasure hunting because it pays better. If there becomes a trend of breaking contracts, we may have to reassess and face it that you guys just aren't cut out for living the Mercenary Code of Honor. But it is still in play for now.

2. Actually Ivor has 3 resources to spend, 3 rerolls. Called "Carousing Recharge". Good results or bad results, you still get the little boost. Is this truly defensible? Probably not. A little bit of it was just bait to promote the idea that adventurers usually play up to their stereotypes of being rowdy, larger than life, and at least arguably short-sighted. It fits in with the trends of the setting, with wealth being held by the few and most often just blown on consumption and indulgence. Also, it seems like a way to blow off the stress and insanity threats, since you guys faced down some pretty disturbing shit during the Drakkenmire tour (Ep 1) and the Winter War (Interim 1).

Players' Club,

Get character stats squared away.

Update Character Sheets.

Record level gains.

Adjust Hit Points.

Record new skills, powers, ability score mods or Feats if necessary, etc.

Don't forget House and DT specific adjustments like DM Progress Grants and Weapon Group Specializations for all the Fighter 6 crowd.

Add Languages (Fluent and/or Intermediate) if you got them during Interim 1.

Record new equipment.

Restructure bonuses as applicable.

Ivor and Thorn have Carousing Recharges for Ep 2.

I'm planning to get up in the morning and kick off Ep 2. It can be a casual start for the weekend, but I want to take all the measures to get the paperwork in, get reloaded, and BE READY TO BLAST!!
