Goat
R1 (cont'd)

The robed Goat man leaps the stair and reaches the back corner of the Throne. In an overhead motion he stabs his heavy spear down in violent action into the seat of the Throne.

The spear hits the seat of the chair in a loud clack. The young girls Sine and Casidhe, clinging to one another nearby, scream out in terror.

Rutcranna
R1

Rolls covered in previous entry. Hit. Effects.

Wondering at first if Rutcranna had moved out of the way of danger, Kray soon sees that the graceful witch woman now steps smoothly around the back of the Throne. With a quick thrust, she drives some sort of long needle into the lower middle back of the spear-wielding barbarian's rib cage, sliding the unusual weapon right through the heavy robes that he wears.

With the needle now embedded, she releases it, impaled in his back, and then she steps away slowly, still behind the Throne.

Goat
R1 (Cont'd)

Heaving in pain, Goat wheels around, arcing backwards at first. He quickly recovers though, and stabs a hard spear thrust back behind him. The strike is nowhere near Rutcranna. Still the Goat holds the spear forward and gives it a rugged jerk and twist. It is a strange motion, as if he is adding injury to some opponent that he cannot see.

Then it is clear to Kray and Bryn, the Goat is faltering. He is injured or impaired in some manner. His battle stance wobbles and he resets it only slowly and awkwardly. He lets one hand go from his spear and tries to reach back to the needle in his back. Unfortunately for him, it is at an angle where he cannot reach it. He grips his spear again, brandishing it out at guard with two hands again. He appears to be shifting and turning, scanning for targets. Yet he does not square up against Kray who is only a few steps from him, nor Bryn who is just beyond.

Hinka
R1

Then Hinka attacks, erupting on the scene from some unseen position in front of the Throne.

Hit and Hit.

The Goat takes desperate measures to shift to the side, barely keeping Hinka from spilling his kidneys out on the floor at the base of the Throne. The Tcho-Tcho's knives do not kill, but they cut deep.

And the Goat flinches, responding to the pain.

Rutcranna stands just nearby the Goat, yet as unbelievable as it seems, it is as if the Goat cannot see her.

Transition to Top of Round 2 (TR2)
OOC:
Y'all, I think that's a wrap for all loose ends for Round 1.

Anyone can chime in if I'm missing something.

Otherwise, TR2 is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!!!

First come, first served as always.
Open today on Sunday, but no requirement. Fight against burnout - wait until Monday if you need to. Haha.

P.S. X, sorry bro. Thorn has to stand by. Currently he is a Bottom of the Round (BR) performer, in the cruel hands of The Phantom Menace.

Phantom Menace. Well played, J. Well played.

Just a guess, but wasting Phantom Menace should help Thorn. Or maybe damage a la concentration rules?

Ezeriah says:
Phantom Menace. Well played, J. Well played.

Just a guess, but wasting Phantom Menace should help Thorn. Or maybe damage a la concentration rules?
OOC:
Ya, I don't mind answering between J and Ezeriah that that probably is a good plan. I'd be reluctant to guess though if such an idea is completely clear to Kray and the others or not. Everything is happening fast, at different locations, during active combat. This is probably the first time anyone here has experienced an actual unnatural magical spell that really seems legit. Plus I'm not even sure at this point that anyone other than Maeriks can clearly see that Thorn has done anything suspicious. In peripheral vision, everyone else just sees a fight going on - Maeriks and Thorn faced off against Phantom. Seems like the knowledge of that development is from the message board, not really the characters in the chaos of the Throne Room.
Every action and inference is on the table though.

If you want a boost on realism cover, you could toss out some ability skill checks that seem applicable, see how good/bad the results are, and use it as explanation of Kray's quick assessment, intuition, and analysis of what is going on. To me, Insight seems like a decent candidate. Maybe Investigation as a secondary applicant.

In the last few hours, everyone has become more clear that things like mind-control and mental assaults are definitely in play with this crowd. People have been driven mad, acting out of their minds, turning on their friends. Rutcranna has been passing out, bleeding in her nose, explaining she is under mental assault by Glaaki. Rutcranna was even suspected as mentally dominating one of Gorolach's defender shield maidens downstairs - made that bitch pass out like a dead fish just by some sort of Jedi mind trick. I think the characters are definitely in range of putting 2 and 2 together to see cause and affect.

Or of course you could just make the call, take six steps southeast, and try to cut Phantom's head off -- see what happens. Nothing illegal on that. Haha!

Bryn
TR2

Bryn strides up to the platform to attack the Goat near the Throne. Acting erratic as he approaches, Goat snaps back into attention just in time as Bryn swings his blades. The first swing sails overhead as he ducks, but Bryn's follow-through strike cuts through the goats robes to scrape the barbarian's torso.

Not a killing stroke, but the Goat is tiring and still struggling to maintain a thorough defense against the group of foes. He is not fighting with the relentless battlefury for which the Hive and even the Bat Hannocs overall are known.

Attack 1: Miss
Attack 2, Off-hand: Hit
Sep 25, 2017 2:24 pm
Ivor recognizes the blood-crazed look in Donnach's eyes. This man will hardly feel any pain Ivor is about to deal. Fuck it. "Keep knocking him down with that thing." Ivor growls to Doirind. He reverses his grip on his dagger and then commits: he leaps at the Bear, leading with a hammering blow with the down-turned dagger, followed by a diagonal slash with the hand-axe.

The Bear of the Hive, just torn free from the net and in full barbarous rage, stands ground and defends as Ivor drives in with his dagger and axe. The hulking masked man's defenses are too sound, and Ivor cannot land a strike against him.

Doirind
TR2

Seeing her husband break free and dive straight into combat against Ivor is daunting. Doirind is reminded that she is going up against a killing machine. She knows that landing any blow against this veteran warrior will be difficult enough, and that knocking him down now will be next to impossible for her. Still yet, her resolve is deep. She heaves the heavy khopesh with all the strength she has.

Attack, Khopesh: Hit

The curved blade slams into the Bear's costume wraps and he shifts inward to offset the strike. The damage in the end is minimal, but Doirind seems to have gotten Donnchad's attention.

When he turns towards her briefly, her wrath is fueled. "Yes, you castrated pig. Look at me now! I will KILL YOU!!"

She draws the khopesh back again and sails out another violent swing, shouting out in rage.

Startled by the Goat's sudden rush onto the Throne platform, Laoise lets out a yell of surprise. Then instinctively she turns and fires an arrow at the close range assailant.

Attack, Shortbow: Hit

Eyes narrowed, Maeriks takes a half step backwards instinctively as his recently won trophy and symbol of his position as Norach clatters across the floor. Even before the weapon has stopped its movement, Maeriks is drawing Reave from his basket. He thinks back to the ceremony where he received the weapon and named it. In a whisper to himself, he recognizes his mistake in denying the weapon its share of blood. "Yes, my Reave was named for this moment."

He lashes out at Rigin in a series of swings. He sees the strange control Rigin is exerting over his new friend and thinks back to the many episodes where he was the victim of this very same humiliation and pain. "No" he whispers.

Thorn
TR2

Thorn feels his body betray him. He loses control of his limbs. His head is spinning and throbbing with pain.

Maeriks
TR2

Attack: Hit
Opponent Fails Save, incurs all Damage and Effects.

Rigin is unable to get Thorn's motion completely underway in time for a strike before Maeriks dashes past. As Maerik's great war-club comes arching in towards him, Rigin thinks he can sidestep the attack, or at least shift enough to keep it from being anything but a glancing blow. But then the thunderous boom cracks out.

The large weapon connects first with Rigins forearm as he tries to shift to the side, but then it carries through to hit him in the upper chest near the shoulder. The blast that explodes then hits him full in the face, neck, head, and upper torso. The shock blows his arms wide and he is thrown to the stone floor like a rag doll.

Rigin Felin's son, Phantom of the Hive, lies on his back and remains motionless for long seconds. He tries to shift his arms and legs back beneath him to stand again, but they are slow to respond, only twitching and jerking slowly as he tries to gather his senses.
OOC:

The next thing Thorn remembers is gathering himself together again. He is down on one knee, and catches himself before he falls over completely. He hears his sword clatter on the ground. He manages to focus his vision enough to see the great blade lying on the ground next to him. He cannot quite get his motor skills back together enough to reach out and take hold of it.

His head is pounding, and he is breathing heavily. The floor is still spinning, but starting to slow down.
OOC:

At this moment, Kray was immersed in his element, savoring the nuances of battle even as his mind worked out tactical considerations. He derived a subtle sort of pleasure from combat, perhaps similar to an artist appreciating the process as part of creating fine works, or an engineer laying the ground work for a great fortress. He could even liken it to the simple working man's satisfaction in a job well done. Although Kray knew combat was a means to an end, always part of some objective, goal, or larger end game political machination, he somehow drew great contentment from the entire experience, whether it was a duel or a large scale battle. To Kray, combat of any kind, for business or reasons personal, was a combination of art and science, and the potential finality of any such event made it simultaneously one of the ultimate forms of expression and objective resolution.

Seeing Goat too close to the witches, Kray moves without delay to put the beast man down. Looking to create an opening, he approaches Goat from the front in an effort to draw his attention from the others, aggressively threatening with a heavy feint from his yatagan while at the same time shifting his shield to show Goat an exposed weakness, baiting him in an effort to create an opening that could be exploited.

Kray smiled, sadistic in demeanor.

That's right, bastard. Bleed me. I'm easy.

Kray
TR2

Kray moves up on top of the one-step platform to clash again with Cealwin the Goat head-on. His yatagan does not draw blood, but Kray's aggressive approach and attack seem to have captured the masked barbarian's attention.

Kray glares into the empty eye sockets of the animal skull that is buckled to the leather mask that covers the man's face. It is a new skull and mask, different than the one that was ripped off by Qiu back at Old Island. There are no real eye-hole cutouts in the leather of the mask, Kray notices though. It is still unclear how these Glaaki pawns maintain vision or full sensory in their obstructive face wraps.

The Goat focuses from his recent confusion and steps towards Kray, brandishing his spear. Kray knows that his opponent will thrust forward with the extended weapon in the next moments, so he readies his shield even as he feints an opening to draw the enemy attack.
