Investigation Results for Kray

Mobility, Position, Movement. Likely to be key indicators of success or failure in any Fight-and-Escape plan.

One of the greatest threats in the Throne Room if things move to confrontation would be the threat of being Restrained or otherwise immobilized.

Highlights:

***The Hierophant has the ultimate immobilizer tool: the unseen telekinetic force. No real way known so far to deal with that, other than hoping that she might be concentrating on something else. It might happen that SOMEONE gets nabbed up in the telekinetic grab while the others are still on the move. At that point, it is hard to know what can be done about it. What if a few people get pinned down and others are not?

***The Ulathi are known capturers. Several of them carry nets. Approximately 1 in 4. Observation: there is at least 1 net and no more than 2 nets in each Ulathi Group on the Notional Map. Should net-wielders become priority targets if it comes to blows and everyone has to make choices on where to focus fire?

***The Ulathi have also been known to choose to Grapple rather than strike. They sometimes even apply Help to one another to give their best effort to get a successful Grapple. Once targets are immobilized first, then they let their collective number of Attacks add up in subsequent rounds. They often try to Move people while Grappled as well (to a better location for Ulathi, a worse location for the victim). It has also become clear that the Deep Ones seek to capture rather than kill women. People who aid women to escape may become favored targets by the Ulathi. Also women may be a distraction to the Ulathi, allowing others to move out.

***The alligators at the outer edge of the room have not posed much threat so far. Good thing. They have a chance of Restraining victims after a successful hit by their bite Attack.

The more time spent standing and fighting, the more attempts of Restraining Attacks will occur. Movement goals then, if there are any, should be stressed and clarified alongside of every Attack action offered.

If no Movement is mentioned with Attack details, it could be assumed that the character is holding position and taking a stand where he is, and is making no positional progress.

Alright. That's all in then.

I have to start some IRL meetings this afternoon that will pretty much take me out of comms I think until tomorrow morning.

I'll try to get something rolling early to start things off. I think the writing is on the wall that the solution for the problems that the characters face have transitioned from diplomacy to Direct Action.

In the meantime, boards are still open for anything you want to send.

If you need some moderate length reading, check out the Admin Thread "Scenes from The Vault" series.

The review of Thorn v. Fingol is fun for nostalgia. (I want to call attention again to Thorn's interaction with Rutcranna's nice titties)

The review of Kray's last interaction with Rutcranna may be more like an eye-opener about what is going on right now, and maybe even what may happen next.

Sorcha Rhone rustles, showing the signs of awakening after a deep slumber.

The Hierophant glares at Bryn. At Kray. At Maeriks.

"The Adept is compromised," she says aloud, locking eyes directly at Maeriks in Dannein. The Ulathi shudder and clench with shock.

"The Transition has failed. He is one of them." She says, as if gaining clarity for the first time.

The Ulathi turn sights on Maeriks, clenching their weapons.

She looks back at Bryn and Kray, Ivor and Thorn. Switching to the foreign language, she shouts out commands in rage...

DMJ sent a note to Constablebrew

Roll Group Initiative (Retro 1d10). With Advantage.

Opponent Initiative Below.

If you score highest Initiative, proceed with Actions.

Each Player must announce choice of Throne Room Offense or Throne Room Defense.

Provide best detail on all Actions, including related Movement, opponent targeting, interact with environment notes, etc. Cover Bonus Actions up front if possible, and if you have a reason or strategy to delay them let me know so I don't press forward. Goal is to press this combat forward with a sense of explosiveness - with violence of action. I hope to minimize splitting all rounds multiple times with multiple back and forth comms for remaining Actions.

Use Map on Admin Thread to describe Ulathi opponents by Group number and Player positioning.

NOTE: I'm not going to rework the map to make the 2 changes that I know of, but I will describe them here.
Kray (K) moved to stand to the right beside Sorcha Rhone (SR).
Bryn (B) moved to stand behind (below) Sorcha Rhone (SR).

I don’t know your group average, but I think it is high, especially with Bryns Feat stack. You guys figure that out.

Just as the Ulathi spring forward, Thorn has caught the eye of the same one who gave him a small salute earlier, during that temporary alliance. He nods again. Respect.

"We get Rhone and we get out! Stick together and protect anyone Throne Lady fucks up," he says as he helps Ivor pull Doirind to her feet and begins making his way to the east side of the dais to meet with the others who want to leave.

As he surges forward, Urdav's blade is sweeping, carving, piercing the Deep Ones.
OOC:
Thorn is on Throne Room Defense.

Going by DMJ's map, Thorn is moving (hoping Ivor and Doirind follow) toward the North Exit between G1 and the throne, hoping to meet up with Kray, Maeriks, Brynn, Rhone, and any of the ladies who care to join us. He'll use as much movement as he can, but his priority is to meet up with the larger group and then stick together.

J, I'm rolling two attacks; if you rule Thorn's helping and hollering negates something here, cool.

Edit: Attacking Ulathi from Group 1
Damage from Attack 1: 27
Damage from Attack 2: 17

FUCK YEAH 2 Attacks!

I understand Movement, but which Group are you Attacking?

Seems like you could slash at targets in Group 1 (has 4 fish-guys) or Group 2 (has 4 fish-guys). Or I guess even one from each if you wanted.

DMJ says:

Doirind looks into Ivor's eyes, and places her drusus into his hand. She carefully closes his fingers around it.

"Either hand this back to me, help me up and get me over to that one there..."
she nods to a fat Deep One who has his back turned. He stands in the way of the team and the door.

"...or send me off with it before you go." She looks at him with a calm, determined look.

OOC:
Yo, Jabes. For Ivor's consideration: To be clear on this, Doirind's nod to "that one there" - that is a fat-ass Deep One in "Ultathi Group 1."

Hierophant says:

"The Adept is compromised. The Transition has failed. He is one of them."
Kray could sense the impending onslaught before the Hierophant finished. Rutcranna's words echoed in his mind:

She is yours now.

He sprang into action as the Ulathi adopted an aggressive posture, leaning down to pick up the groggy Sorcha under his left arm. "Time to go, young lady." As he rose, he noticed Thorn had already begun carving a path his way, Ivor moving with him. The least Kray could do was meet him halfway.

Moving without delay, he scooped the girl up and made his way toward Thorn and Ivor, shielding her with his body. As soon as the nearest fish mongrel was within reach his yatagan shot out like a viper, a singular motion from scabbard to fish flesh.

Rutcranna says:
"Maeriks. My Champion. You are released. Leave this place forever. Your home is gone. There is no Clan. Fight to find another home now, and help Sorcha Rhone find one of her own. Good bye, most useful of all fools."
The last words whispered to him before he became The Adept and she the Hierophant.
Hierophant says:
"He is one of them."
Am I? The last of his clan stand here in this room. These women, bound to him, their Norach, the wielder of the Locust Spear. He wants so badly to save them, to take them from this stinking pit, but he is filled with a sense a gut feeling that there is no hope here, that these women are gone already. He doesn't consider his options or weight them with thought, when he looks at the group of women he simply feels a void. The void days after having buried a friend. The void of efforts made and wasted. The void of a promise that will never be kept.

Closest to him is Boann. She would kill Maeriks for lack of understanding. He wanted to save her, even if that meant life with a monster growing in her womb. But a barren woman is no use to these monsters, who hold her and draw arms to slay her now. At least she will have honor in her death.

Near by stand the young and fertile women of his clan. All bound and held by Ulathi. He could not rescue these women now, that would surly end in his death and more likely than not that of his friends. And Sorcha Rhone.

Sorcha Rhone. This is what he must protect now. He is Norach, and the Norach must protect the one last member of his clan.

Moving quickly now, Maeriks forms up beside Kray. "Sorcha!" he says as the man is already taking her under his arm, half as an instruction and half as agreement on a point of focus. He positions himself behind the two, blockading any Ulathi whom may attempt to close with the girl.

Maeriks swings the Locust Spear overhead in a show of force, the blade slicing the air audibly. It is then brought sweeping down on the Ulathi.

Just before the action starts, Doirind looks around the room. Her eyes widen and brighten. She looks back at Ivor with a look of surprise, and a mix of excitement and renewed vigor.

Without hearing a word, Ivor understands that Doirind too has gained the unexplainable vision and clarity of time and space in the Throne Room.

She takes the drusus back into her hand when he hands it to her. She wraps her other arm around Ivor's neck, knowing that he will heave her up and cast her into battle.

She takes a deep breath in and out, looks him in the eye one last time, and nods in determination.
Ready.
