Quote:
"The Adept is compromised," she says aloud, locking eyes directly at Maeriks in Dannein. The Ulathi shudder and clench with shock.

"The Transition has failed. He is one of them." She says, as if gaining clarity for the first time.

The Ulathi turn sights on Maeriks, clenching their weapons.

She looks back at Bryn and Kray, Ivor and Thorn. Switching to the foreign language, she shouts out commands in rage...

The Ulathi launch into action.
This is the moment Ivor, poised to strike like a coiled snake, has been waiting for. He shoves Doirind's drusus into her hand before heaving her up and moving with her and Thorn to form up with the others and carve a bloody path through the ulathi on the way to the exit.

With the heightened sensory and the extreme sensitivity to time and spacing, everyone burst into action nearly simultaneously.

Thorn moves forward swinging the heavy blade in full weight yet in complete silence. When it hits the shoulder of the first Deep One, the blade cleaves down to the middle of the creature's back before Thorn even sees any flinch of muscle reaction. The Ulathi is dead before he even realizes it.

Thorn then follows through with another strike, severely wounding another Deep One and sending it reeling backwards.

Ivor quickly closes the gap immediately after and finishes the job, braining the injured Ulathi - three prongs sliding through the skull.

Wasting no time Ivor plucks the trident back out, pulls in for another tight launch, and thrusts out again. This strike dives into the chest cavity of another Ulathi. It croaks a sound like a frog, it's bulging eyes spread wide as it throws its hands in the air involuntarily. Ivor plucks the trident back out, freeing the sharp barbed prongs from the rib cage, as the fishman flops to the ground dying.

Doirind slams into the fat Deep One, using the momentum from Ivor's push. She slides the drusus right between two ribs and under the left shoulder blade. The tip of the blade pierces through the heart. The beefy creature dies instantly and crashes over, mouth wide open in surprise.

Kray moves quickly to scoop up Sorcha Rhone in his left arm. His blade slashes out in his other hand, cutting the closest Deep One and driving him back just enough to deny him the ability to make a counterstrike as Kray steps away with Rhone gripped tightly over his shoulder.

Bryn feels like his right kukri blade is moving in slow motion as it glides directly through the left side flesh of the neck of the first Ulathi. Blood pours as the artery is opened. The Ulathi drops his weapon and grips the wound with both webbed hands as he falls to his knees and Bryn moves past.

The next Ulathi is raising a spear high and to the right, preparing for a thrust. Since its hands and arms guard its neck, Bryn shifts his off-hand cut towards the creatures mid-section. The blade initially peels into the abdomen at the lower right corner, just above the hip bone. It slides through and at a slight upward angle to exit just under the left rib cage. The creature's entrails spill out as the bag of flesh that contained them spreads open along the entire width of the creature's belly. Bryn barely steps clear to avoid slipping in the gore that splatters onto the floor.

Maeriks drives the Locust Spear through a Ulathi’s center chest. The creature falls in a heap.

Maeriks then shifts his stance and grip to strike with hard blunt end of the shaft. Maeriks hears a dull crack when the spear butt hits the creature’s temple, and another enemy falls hard to the stone floor.

Thorn, Ivor, and Doirind brace to receive the others running in. Kray, Bryn, and Maeriks move as fast as they can as they fight their way through. The group sees a moment of consolidation, east of the Throne.

From behind Maeriks, Boann's voice. "You are running?! You coward! You are no Norach!"

With a burst of fury, Boann heaves, throws, and pulls in a violent whirl against her two captors. The two Ulathi are set off balance and are unable to maintain their hold on the furious Dannein woman. Boann breaks free and stands, exposed with only a shred of a skirt still clinging to her hips.

She looks around to find herself beset on all sides by armed Ulathi, just like the other women nearby.
Oct 14, 2017 4:26 pm
As the now unified group continues their movement toward the north exit, Maeriks observes Ivor grasp Doirind about the waist and half carry her. She is exhausted and terribly wounded. Maeriks taps Bryn on the shoulder "shift" he says and the two swap positions, placing Maeriks adjacent now to the two remaining women of his clan.
Boann says:
"You are running?! You coward! You are no Norach!"
A pain of guilt sets deep into his chest. He quickly looks over the swarm of Ulathi about her and the others, letting that sight mask that pain. For now, at least, that will be enough.
OOC:
Placing Maeriks to be able to heal the flagging Doirind if needed.

"Fight, you calfs!" Having just flung free from her Ulathi captors, Boann shouts to the women, "Those men will not save you! Break! Run!"

Most of the girls are still frozen in shock. But Laoise and Casidhe, the rugged Colvert girls from the Ogolees, are prodded to action. Jilleen also makes a desperate effort to pull free.

The two Colvert girls run as fast as they can towards the door, trying to steer clear of both the Throne and the encircling Deep Ones.

As the group runs at top speed towards the exit hallway, they see daylight out at the end. They see the blue sky at the end of a tunnel, that ends at a landing about 50' ahead.

When they enter between the two large blocks that were previously pressed together as the great cube, the sound of grinding stone sounds out in the chamber again. It does not take long to see that the blocks are sliding back together.

The Ulathi are charging forward.

Thorn and Ivor, who is carrying Doirind, cross just barely into the hallway.

Just behind them, Kray feels the strange tightness fall upon him. He feels the weight on his chest, the squeeze on his arms and legs.

The Hierophant's unseen grasp is upon him.
OOC:
Alright y'all. You know there would be a roll of the dice to see what happens. And Ez, The Hierophant wants the Mystic now, and Kray was the silver-tongued speaker who seems to be taking control. Hate to say it, but target selection is pretty predictable.

Here's the deal:

Kray with Sorcha Rhone is the target of a telekinesis grab by The Hierophant.

I'm going to make a roll below that will be the DC to resist.

Kray needs to break through that with STR Athletics in order to press forward. Brute force only. DEX Athletics is not a way out.

Under this circumstance, I think that everyone is expecting something like this to happen. And especially with the focus on Sorcha Rhone (remember the translation: Princess Pearl), I think everyone would be trying to grab in and help pull Kray and Rhone free.

So...for anyone who is game, you can use a Reaction to lend a hand. (NOTE: I know a couple of you sent preliminary speculative Reaction rolls. Those have not yet been spent. The triggers of firing them have not yet been actuated since there have been no Attacks yet and no one has yet approached Reach range, by rare seconds none of that has yet occurred).

By the Throne Room Defense, Kray already has Advantage on STR Athletics rolls, so normal Help is not going to do anything.

So to simulate the group effort of everyone grabbing and wrapping up and trying to push forward, we will do it like this.

Anyone who wants to push/pull to assist must successfully make an Attack (it's not really an Attack of course) against AC 10 to see if you can get a hold or grip. You can use DEX or STR plus Proficiency to attempt the "Attack". Success means you are helping.

Anyone who helps sends Kray a +1 to the roll.

Anyone who helps and has a STR of 16 or higher sends a +2 (instead of a +1, so not cumulative).

Anyone who helps and has a STR of 20 or higher sends a +3 (again, not cumulative)
Everyone quickly sees what is happening, Kray is under duress from the invisible force. They know that within seconds he could be pulled back towards the Throne or perhaps thrown anywhere else.
OOC:
Dang. That's pretty high.
Kray must match or exceed DC 29 on STR Athletics to resist Telekinetic pull.
Possible Help from others detailed above.
