Chapter 3: Meeting The Natives

Taking a few pebbles on the ground, Moss slowly starts to climb on the dead tree, trying not to make any noise, checking for stable handholds, but then realises that the wood would probably cave with his weight. Moss goes back into the shadows, hoping the creature hasn't heard him...
OOC:
Tried to roleplay the results, feel free to change it if need be.

As Rygnar steps back, Ygne looks up at him with confusion. After he speaks, her face doesn't change until after a couple seconds of pause. Suddenly, her expression sours intensely as it dawns on her what, exactly, had just been said. She does not look embarrassed, rather she appears awkward and uncomfortable.

Ygne doesn't move from her seat in the sand, and she looks back down while continuing her picture. "That's not what I meant," she grumbles quietly.

Frick appears deep in thought for a minute, then looks at Zilla, "Why do you stay out here rather than in the village? Though I can't really say it's safe there, can I?"
Jun 15, 2017 1:41 am
Rygnar looks at Ygne skeptically "Good; keep it that way." He remains where he is and watches Ygne draw in the sand before blurting out "I have a question for you now. The man that follows you, is he a warrior?"
Jun 15, 2017 2:02 am
"Wiiill dooo," she murmurs, drawing out the words in a sing-song manner.

To Rygnar's question, she looks up and asks, "Who, Frick?" She shrugs her shoulders without waiting for a reply. "He doesn't follow me. We just know each other.
And... no, he's not a warrior. At least, not like you mean it."
Jun 15, 2017 2:29 am
"Frick..." he repeats sternly and gives pause as he lets the name sit. "People don't join battles over 'just know', he follows you. What is he than, why did he challenge me if he is not a warrior?"
Jun 15, 2017 2:33 am
"People fight for all kinds of reasons. We're friends, but he's not a follower; I'm not his leader. Ygne doesn't have followers. We're here cause we want the same things."

She shrugs at the next part, "He's a warrior when he fights, but I don't think he much cares about honor like you do. I think he just likes fighting.
Jun 15, 2017 2:57 am
Rygnar blinks slowly, trying to comprehend something, before shaking his head "Then I accept his challenge."

He walks away, removing a drum from his pack and sits down facing the ocean. He begins banging on it, in a steady rhythm.
Jun 15, 2017 3:10 am
"He'd beat the snot outta you, Muscles," she says offhandedly, somewhat distracted by her sand drawing.

"Why do YOU stay out here rather than in the village, hmm? Auntie's home is more beautiful and peaceful, yes?"

JARVEENA and MOSS
Moss's stone gets the attention of the shadows lurking within the tree. You hear a low rumbling sound that might be a purr or a growl, which is then echoed by another purr. Then third, and a fourth.

After a few experimental sniffs in the air, the shadows flood the far end of the trunk with light as two of they push through the rotten walls and exit it though the sides. The now-illuminated shadows reveal brightly coloured plumage and razor-sharp claws. 4 feathered lizards the size of leopards approach the sound at the front of the tree trunk, two from the outside and two from the inside.

As an afterthought, you realize the entire rotting trunk is full of beetles, probably the reason the lizards are inside.
[ +- ] Deinonychus
A note on distances: The two inside Deinonychus are 20 feet from moss's position, and the two outside are 15 feet. The inside ones have total cover between themselves and Jarveena and the outside ones have total cover between themselves and Moss.
OOC:
Rolling Jarveena's hide check when she set up for sniping... I believe her Maimed condition gives her minus 1. Still scores high enough to be concealed.

Rolls

Jarveena's hide check - (1d20+6)

"You are outcast," Elspa states plainly, voicing her theory of Auntie Zilla's residence. "Maybe you was part of them first, but you ain't no more."

"Is that so?" Auntie replies, black-tooth smile beaming. She starts walking back down the slippery rocks to her underground pool.

"Auntie will be taking a bath if you need her."
Jun 16, 2017 11:39 pm
Elspa looks around to see who's still in the cave.
Jun 16, 2017 11:46 pm
Frick looks at Elspa and shrugs at Zilla's abrupt departure, "Strange old hag, ain't she?" he says quietly to Elspa.
Jun 16, 2017 11:58 pm
Elspa shrugs. She looks out of the cave to see what the weather is like, and perhaps catch a glimpse of anyone else that's still hanging around.
Jun 17, 2017 12:23 am
Moss takes a few seconds to study his prey, and then gets ready to try and take it down...
