Rossa's grin widens--showcasing two more of his sharp teeth--at the droid's response. "That depends entirely on you," he says, spreading his hands casually even as his gaze remains fixed on DLR-9. "I don't want to hurt you. I don't like hurting people. But I am, unfortunately, pretty good at it. So what d'you say? Want to read this situation as an emergency?"

Now Rossa slips the vibro-ax from his back. There's commotion at the shop front behind him; he doesn't turn. "Or do I really have to inflict some damage before you open that door?"
OOC:
Rolling coercion on this droid. I'll take a strain to downgrade the difficulty (thanks to Intimidating)--hence one purple? Should I be waiting to build these dice pools until I hear from you?

Rolls

Coercing a droid

2 Success, 1 Threat

Total: 2 Success, 1 Threat

DM_Apexwolf sent a note to emsquared
As Rossa speaks then raises his ax Tov grabs his arm and pulls herself closer whispering in his ear. "What are you doing? It's a droid. You can't threaten a droid, they have no emotions."

OOC:
No need to wait usually. If I need to modify a Difficulty you used I will just add a roll to your post or in mine.

2 Conflict for Rossa using coercion :D
The droid's optics flicker and pulse as it shuffles backwards, it's arms flailing for a moment, "Oh my! As you say, sir!"

It bumps into the wall behind it, then shuffles forward again, extending a hand where you see a holo-jack emerging from its index finger. The droid inserts the jack into a port on its holoterminal and almost immediately a klaxon begins to sound.

"Just another moment, sir...", the droid stammers as it looks between Rossa and the terminal, the holo-jack rotating back and forth.

"There we are!", it exclaims and looks to the nearby door which opens.
OOC:
RE: the threat... hmmm.

OOC:
Aw shit, I was hoping to avoid that.
At the blaring klaxon, Rossa gently--ever so gently--removes Tov's hand from his arm. "See? Even a droid doesn't want to get busted."

He glances behind him and finds Allahn and the others looking around, confused. "Allahn! Found another exit. Let's make it quick." But there's more, he realizes, than a safe exit needed. He asks Tov, "What do you think, stay behind and let them make a getaway? Or force the Journeyers we're relieving to take on that chore?"

I use this table as a general guide:

And while 2 for Coercion seems kind of steep to me, Fear is a big thing with the Darkside, even just being afraid can give you Conflict (on a failed Fear check), so I guess inflicting fear in someone is worth 2.

I probably should have warned you, given you a chance to retcon... that is something I said I'd do (warn you guys when you're about to earn Conflict).

Do we know if these are the diplomats we were semt to escort?

Good to know! Also, haha, leave it to Rossa to assume and just act.

By this chart I almost earned A conflict if I didn't say anything to Rossa. Wow.

I'm inclined to say, no, so in the interest of "Say yes, or roll the dice", I'll give you a Hard Perception check to hear it.

Well, mob members were yelling about the Ryo "Syndicate" being pirates, and Ryo go home, and things when you first got there. The droid did point Rossa over in this direction. I did label the blips on the map as Ryo diplomats ;P

Frustrated and alone, he takes a seat and contemplates on what his new found well-wisher can do for him. Hunkered down, ponders what what lies beyond looks like.

"I could ask for a chaperone...
Just passing through...
How about the ducts or vents...
Should I tell them about the politically charged fiasco..."

Artes takes a deep breath as he stands. Another venture, another wrangle. This time, the kid gloves are off. He approaches the head of the stall once again. With modulated breathing, piercing eyes, and a pit in his stomach, he ambles towards the shopkeep and explains his situation, from being new to the Temple to the debacle happening with his comrades. He offers what ever concession and compromise he could think off. He explains that he direly needs to make way to reunite with his company.

"We stay with the diplomats. They are out responsibility." She walks to a couple of the guards. "We found a back way out. I need you to stay behind and give us a chance to get the diplomats out." She turns to address the diplomats. "Follow us."
OOC:
Do I need amy rolls for this interaction?

Allahn nods and calls out a command to the other Journeryers with her, whom all move as one into a tighter formation in front of the mob. The Ryo bodyguards and diplomats - once Tov is able to get their attention, which takes some doing due to the noise - back slowly and cautiously away from the throng. Upon seeing the objects of their anger begin to retreat, the mob presses forward! A handful of people begin to grapple with the original Journeyer guards in their formation, the diplomats hurry to get behind their guards - Ryo and Je'daii - and then... something larger than any other projectile yet comes flying out from the depths of the crowd...

You three watch for what seems like an eternity as the object arcs overhead before clattering along the ground with a metallic resonance. It rolls and rolls and comes to rest amidst you all. It's with some amount of dismay that you all realize it looks like a grenade. And then it detonates...
OOC:
Flipping a Destiny Point to upgrade the attack.

If anyone plans on engaging with the crowd, go ahead and roll initiative, otherwise we'll stay out of structured play just yet...
;)

Bah... what a lousy roll. Well, if it doesn't rankle you guys too much, I'd like to exercise the little blurb in the Blast weapon quality description that reads "In a relatively small area, the GM might decide that everyone in the room suffers damage." First, you guys are fully able to argue the same thing were you to use a grenade, but also I think it will make things more interesting and dramatic >:D

7 Strain damage, all. Soak applies as per normal.
The small cylinder explodes, not with the flesh rending violence of a high-explosive, but with the ear splitting BANG! of a "mercy" grenade. The droid clerk, as well as several people from the mob who had pushed into the shop, drop to the ground, cupping their hands over their ears (or auditory sensors)! It's only after you've had a few moments to compose yourselves that you realize one amongst the diplomats has also been stunned by the blast, a Ryo bodyguard is already dragging them toward the open door... You hear and see most people in the mob are now screaming in terror and fleeing from the blast, but perhaps ten members still remain... And they come forward in a fresh wave, looking like they're about to scrum with the original three Journeyer guards, still in their formation at the entrance.

...

As Missotrav negotiates with the shop keep he hears a loud, hollow, out-of-place-seeming POP!.
OOC:
jkl, I'll give you a Boost die to your Negotiation roll for this development (which is going on simultaneously), and if you can muster something else in the Negotiation to warrant another Boost, you have a chance at making a success...

Rolls

Range Light+Assisted Boost die+Upgrade, Short Range Band

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 2 Success, 1 Advantage

OOC:
I still can't think of a devil's bargain that will fly, storywise. Can I flip a Destiny point for some sort of longstanding contract that could kick my behind later?

Rolls

+1 Boost (1 Failure, 1 Advantage)

1 Success

Total: 1 Success

Dec 12, 2017 1:41 pm
OOC:
Since you've already rolled, I won't let you flip the DP for a dice effect, but you can always do it for a narrative effect, if you can think of something to create different opportunity?

Or, how far is Missotrav willing to go in this moment? Can he see another way to achieve his goal?
Dec 12, 2017 11:22 pm
OOC:
I believe the pressure is on. There is the ticking time bomb of the mob, the taste of failure still lingers in his mouth, and contact is almost impossible due to physical and tech noise. I think he'd be pretty desperate at this point.
Dec 13, 2017 1:21 am
OOC:
"Monetary incentivization" can sometimes speed negotiations along (Boost for cred). As can violence (Boost for Conflict). Or he could just ignore the shopkeep's protests, and do what he believes he needs to do. Or look for another opportunity.
Dec 13, 2017 1:37 am
The Trandoshan's body sways with the detonation, one side of his nose pressing firmly upward in distaste. "Tov, right? Let's move fast, get everyone out." He steps forward, but stops himself. Once more, he turns to the droid in charge of the shop. "Are you able to end the alarm and close the door once we go? Like, immediately afterward?"
OOC:
Did the Ryo manage to make it to our side of the shop before the explosion? How much smoke is lingering in the aftermath? -- Should I just be making this stuff up for story purposes instead of waiting for your guidance, Em?

The droid shopkeep appears to have had its circuits overwhelmed, it lays on the floor, on its back, arms flailing weakly and optics flickering.
OOC:
Heh, Ryo is with you, there's not much smoke, and yes. I would encourage all of you to take greater amounts of narrative control, when it seems appropriate/you feel like you have a good grasp of what's going on - and you aren't using it to create undue advantage for yourselves. In tense combat/combat-like situations you may not feel comfortable doing that, and that's fine, but also I will be able to roll with most choices you make so long as you're using this license to create drama and bring the Star Wars (as opposed to, create auto success and gloss over the tough parts).
