Swooping in beside Urki, Fēng hesitates and wonders if it would be wise to cut these captives down. Who knows, they might be able to help? On the other hand, what do they know about these two? They could be innocents, or they could be mercenaries in Shimazu's employ, being punished for some failure or other.

"Come, Urki. The others are already inside. We cannot allow that samurai to sound the alarm!" The young aarakocra monk begins to move off.

Nakada and Tonton, it has been a long journey to this point. Earlier near the beginning of the evening, you had just entered into the town of the goblins near the base of the hill and had garnered some hospitality when the hobgoblins began to storm the place. Whether you hid or you fought, you were found and overpowered by the sheer numbers of torch bearing hobgoblins. They bound you, four hobgoblins apiece, and "questioned" you as to why you were on the mountain though you remember the frequency of questions to be less and less as the night went on. When your answers finally were to the satisfaction of the hobgoblin in charge, they carried you up the mountain pass and into the lair of Shimazu. The Widow could tell there was something different about you and offered to Shimazu to continue the interogation as it would, "give her some fun for the coming winter" in her words. Though the night dragged on, you were afforded a moment to rest, a least a little, before the sun's cherry glow began to warm the horizon. You watched as the Widow began to pray in this courtyard to the urn on a pedastal when she was attacked. You thought to yourselves, All part of the plan.

"Cut us down," says the wood elf in traveling clothes, swinging lightly to rotate and eye the attackers. "Can help." His voice is parched.
Apr 24, 2016 7:25 pm
Something about the elf makes Fēng stop. Mercenary or innocent, surely this creature has suffered enough. Master Aeyesu had always taught, "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." The aarakocra monk hurriedly reaches up and cuts the elf's bonds with the blade of his spear. Then he offers the elf a sip from his own waterskin.
Apr 25, 2016 5:21 pm
The wood elf pushes aside the waterskin and retrieves his blade from where it rests against the platform. He proceeds to cut down the other individual as quickly as he can, though he pauses on occasion to shake some feeling back into his limbs.

Utamuro drags himself to his feet and bows to Feng, "Thank you for your assistance. What's happening here?" he says, trying to get his head back on straight.
Apr 25, 2016 10:17 pm
"Feng... What are we doing with these two? They sure as hell don't look like they are part of Shimazu's club.

Urki turns to the two freshly freed captives.

"Can you guys help us or will you flee? Either is fine with me but we need to make a decision quick. If you're injured I can heal everyone up with a prayer but it takes a few minutes."

Nakada and Yotsuba, you are both at half health rounded up. You understand the basics of the mission as you were most likely sent from the ouroboros guild as well unless you have another reason to be here. I will start the other thread, "The Adventures of Utamuro and Tonton" presently but for the time being you should assume working knowledge of who Shimazu is and if not who the Widow is, at least what she is which is an undead samurai that protects the family's interests.
Apr 26, 2016 2:11 pm
"We can fight, but some healing first would be much appreciated. My name is Nakada Utamuro."
Apr 26, 2016 4:02 pm
Feng bows to the two warriors. The young monk has little skill with healing, but he helps bandage up any obvious wounds. He also takes this time to meditate and catch his own breath. Hauling his friends up the cliff face took a real toll on him*. Speaking of which, he wonders how Ai Shan, Cassandra, and Kildrak are faring. So far, no alarm has been raised. That may be a good sign.

And then there are the crow riders. To Feng's knowledge, they still approach. They must make haste.
OOC:
*Feng is still at level 2 exhaustion.

Tonton does not give an introduction, busy with retrieving the weapons and equipment for Utamuro. With both hands, he holds out a katana for the samurai, head bowed.
Apr 26, 2016 10:04 pm
"Ah very well, let's heal you all up." Urki begrudgingly says a prayer in Gnomish.

Rolls

healing prayer, each player is healed this much - (2d8+6)

(16) + 6 = 13

Apr 26, 2016 10:50 pm
Utamuro takes his katana with a slight nod to his companion and slides it into place at his side.

He stretches again after the healing energy washes over him, "Much appreciated, friend."
Apr 27, 2016 3:33 pm
Tonton gives a silent nod to the gnome as he retrieves the rest of the equipment. The wood elf then looks at Utamuro, and with an unspoken agreement draws a wakizashi short sword and slips into the house in pursuit of their quarry.
OOC:
Stealthing as I go. Do I use Perception to track the Widow?

Rolls

Stealth - (1d20+10)

(4) + 10 = 14

Perception - (1d20+4)

(1) + 4 = 5

Apr 27, 2016 3:55 pm
Feng is more tired than he thought! Urki's healing knits up his wounds but his limbs and wings are heavy. He waits for Urki and Utamuro to start moving before bringing up the rear.

Rolls

Perception (disadvantage from exhaustion) - (1d20+3, 1d20+3)

1d20+3 : (11) + 3 = 14

1d20+3 : (9) + 3 = 12

Stealth (disadvantage from exhaustion) - (1d20+4, 1d20+4)

1d20+4 : (19) + 4 = 23

1d20+4 : (14) + 4 = 18

Apr 27, 2016 3:58 pm
Utamuro follows behind TonTon, trying to be as quiet as possible.

Rolls

Stealth (disadvantage) - (1d20+2, 1d20+2)

1d20+2 : (5) + 2 = 7

1d20+2 : (11) + 2 = 13

Perception - (1d20+4)

(2) + 4 = 6

Apr 27, 2016 8:44 pm
"Feng, let's keep up with them. Quietly?"

The four of you creep toward the manse, vigilantly watching for any signs of the battle that should be happening within. You see no combatants, you hear no sounds of battle. As you take cautious steps towards the main room, the sliding shoji doors of which are open, you can see the signs of struggle. You can tell that this room is a reception hall, lavishly decorated with coffered ceiling tiles, silk partitions decorated with battle scenes, and woven straw tatami mats that cover the floor. A low table at the center of the room has been broken and lilts to one side, cushions are strewn about, a silk screen has a large slash through the center. There is an opening to an alcove on the other side of the room and a set of fusuma doors along the center of the right hand wall that are closed. It is all but silent as you approach but as Utamuro moves to the steps, he places his foot on a warped board and a large creak is heard.

OOC:
Trying to place ourselves on the map. Are we in the room on the right side with the table, or on the left side with what look like tatami mats?
Apr 30, 2016 12:22 am
You are on the room to the right. Those things that look like mats are actually rooms.
