Iasu notices that some of the wounds Akkeen suffered are from his own arrows! They had punctured all the way through the cloaker and onward into Akkeen beneath.
"Do not worry, brother," Akkeen says when he sees Iasu's concern,
"You did what had to be done. You saved me from certain death."
He looks at Iasu eye-to-eye, leaning in close as he clasps his shoulder.
"And besides," he continues,
"You are the physician. You can mend my wounds and give me back my lost strength."
Akkeen turns as directed, Iasu shifting him around to treat and wrap all injuries. Akkeen suffers from harsh slashes on his legs. His arms, torso, neck and face are all scuffed from the rough constricting appendage bands of the cloaker. He has neck wounds on both sides where the monster's long mandible pierced him during flight. Iasu sees that his brother was nearly killed.
But Akkeen takes no time for pity or concern. He talks with enthusiasm and vigor, a gleam in his bright eyes, speaking Otessite to his brother.
