J, before I roll initiative, what is the distance between the chains and the wrecked door? How high is the roof of the tunnel? Are there any hand holds in the wall, or any places once could conceivably hide, it being natural?

Ez, 17 + 6 temp from Kray's last rally.

Okay. Hang tight. I know Thorn usually loves to deal out the pain, and massive amounts of it, but depending on what or how many are coming his way, Dodge action might be ideal.

Will really depend on the aforementioned variables and Bryn's solving the chains. And don't forget your CTM rerolls. I think you still have two.

OOC:
There's no wrecked door in the area. May be a misunderstanding there, either me on the question or maybe I described something poorly in the past.

The wrecked Snake Door that you guys burned is way back - up the ascending natural tunnel, through the Séance Chamber landing, up another meandering stretch of natural stones, across a stone work entryway room. Would have to think it out for that difference - reserving right to rethink this later for accuracy check, but quick estimate I think that would be about 150' (50 yards) from where Thorn is now.

The unworked passage tunnel that stretches, with a downward natural stair step slope, from the Séance Chamber to the Chamber of the Pit is about 25' in distance.

Natural tunnel height varies, from low 7' to high 12'.

Probably with the bad lighting, could attempt to Hide in some shallow alcoves or irregular outcrops on the sidewalls.

Handholds - I think yes. Some rough edges on rocks here and there on the walls and floor. The worked blocks that make the threshold entryway into the Pit Chamber might be handholds, depending on angle, but the majority of the trim and structure of that stonework are on the other side from Thorn, within the Pit Chamber.

Ryhim doesn't waste any time, before the edimmu's lifeless head hits the floor, he is already rushing at the pit fiend. He stabs at the pit fiend with an arrow and uses momentum to kick off it, making his way to Bryn and Kray.

OOC:
Hyp, I was confused about this at first. Not sure if you were doing Attack or a Shove as Action.

Now I understand: it's a Pushing Attack Battle Maneuver. Moving forward with that idea anyway.

I'm not a big fan of the arrow as a Melee weapon, getting the DEX Mod as if it is a Finesse trait hand-held weapon. Will roll with it this time, but in the future, that's an Improvised Weapon with STR as Modifier. Run that same scenario with a kukri, scimitar, short sword, etc. - no complaints.

All good for now though on that front, but I don't see an angle for Sneak Attack. Hide from last Round was allowed v. edimmu flier that was shot, but things are out in the open now. Few hiding spots in the small platform area under heavy light from multiple large fires. No criteria for SA by having opponent adjacent to an ally. So in the end I think this shakes out to a normal Attack. Damage 6 + 2 = 8.
Ryhim launches forward and stabs the threatening monster with an arrow. The arrow snaps, but Ryhim drives forward with the momentum, attempting to shove the fiend back off of the sloping ledge and into the chasm.

Attack, Pushing Maneauver - Hit.
Fail Save. Opponent Shoved.

The stocky monster is hit hard, and Ryhim expertly manages the transfer of momentum. The fiend gets off its footing in the beginning, Ryhim makes sure that a slip turns into a full-blown throw and fall.

Rolling legs overhead, the round monster is rolled right to the edge and topples off of the sloping floor. Ryhim catches one of the tilted column blocks on the edge to stop his own momentum, pulling back as his victim falls into the Pit.

Lesser Pit Fiend Resist, DC 15 STR Save vs. Pushing Attack - (1d20+3)

OOC:
I knew I was forgetting something. Yeah, pushing maneuver.
Sneak attack applies: (Rakish Audacity-
You also gain an additional way to use your Sneak Attack; you don't need advantage on the attack roll to use your Sneak Attack against a creature if you are within 5 feet of it, no other creatures are within 5 feet of you, and you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll. All the other rules for Sneak Attack still apply to you.

OOC:
ok. I'll read up on that. seems a little weird like "I get Sneak Attack on anyone I'm fighting one-on-one out in the open... along with all of the other times when I get the drop on those bitches like normal Rogues." No wonder there is a flood of Swashbucklers. Ha!
In any case, maybe it doesn't matter because that beefcake got thrown off the cliff.

Bryn reads the runes and passes his fingers along the chains. He mumbles words and phrases as he grabs one chain in each hand.

The Irons he grips break loose and unravel, snapping out and withdrawing and rising to hang limply in the chamber near the entryway.

Bryn is gradually opening space in the barrier, but not yet enough to pass through one way or the other.

The bull bellows out loudly and leans back with all of its weight. With great strain it drags Iasu backwards towards the wall, using its horns to hook the chains that bind him and its legs to nudge the paralyzed Iasu back one laborious step at a time.

The bull is so tired though. So thirsty.

The cuts hurt so bad now. It’s skinned feels tight and stretched, and there is a deep dull ache down in its bones.

When the bull reaches the alcove to the side of the raised fire hearth, it swings its head hard to the left, smashing one of the bat-head fliers into a bloody pulp against the rising rim of stone blocks. The exhausted animal cannot do anything about the other foul creature that is biting; it is too far back out of reach.

Back end against the wall now, the bull dips low and shifts weight to its back legs to hold position.
[ +- ] NPC management: ALL IN
The bull’s head is heavy. It dips down low and nestles against Iasu, nudging the bound Hechesi with its snout.

Raising back up again, the bull sounds out with a loud puff and makes one last defiant shake of the horns. The massive muscles of its broad shoulders shake and then lock tight again. For a moment the bull is a great mound of stone. Immoveable.

But then the great beast’s knees buckle. With nothing left to give, the bull falls forward and the physical transformation begins.

The bull is turning back into Maeriks, just as the Small Irons snatch tight.

Greater Pit Fiend (aka Mystery)

Another terrible monster climbs out from the Pit, clambering up the sloped side and striding forward with a loud moan and bark.

Larger and bulkier than the previous, this brute stands taller than a man and has a frame like a great oak tree trunk.

High above the ground, Elam pulls close to Iasu. Carried by The Irons, the blue-skinned devil glides forward as if floating through water. He puts a hand out and places it on Iasu's head, endearingly.

"It is tragic, brother, but such is the price of salvation!," he says in Heshbaan.

Switching to Otessite, he pulls close to speak, quiet compared to the noise of the chains, so that only Iasu can hear.

Previously note="jabes.plays.rpg"] "I will be able to escape through the Small Irons Gate above, but you must begin The Devotion of the same. A terrible sacrifice, but it is the only way that at least one of us can leave this place and begin a new life. I have enough wealth stored away to build a city. Now with Ninsunu's Garments, the wives I take will be able to birth my children. I know you cannot see the miracle of that, brother, but it is a glory beyond measure." [/note]

Elam pushes Iasu's wool hat off of his head. It falls to the floor below. Elam runs his hands through Iasu's hair, thumbing the nubs of Iasu's sawn-off horns as he continues one last message.

Previously note="jabes.plays.rpg"] "My first son I will name after you. Shining Horns - my brother who gave his own life to save mine." [/note]

Elam floats backwards as The Irons tilt Iasu up and move him gradually towards The Pit.
