At the end of her sprint Ronda leaps wildly into the air and comes down with her fists aimed at one of the orcs' heads.

Herod dashes towards the remaining orc.
Oct 16, 2018 10:01 pm
Krigare allows the fleeing orcs their flight. It is good that someone survives to spread the fear...

The remaining orcs, however, need to be taught the folly of their deeds. With a mighty swing, the paladin arcs his blade directly toward the head of the nearest enemy.

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+7)

(8) + 7 = 15

Damage - (2d6+5)

(53) + 5 = 13

Ronda punches the one of the orcs in the stomach, then launches a massive upper-cut. You hear a sickening crunch as the orc falls to the ground. It does not get up. The second orc meets the business end of Krigare's greatsword as he plunges it deep into the second orc's chest. The orc coughs up blood and falls to the ground.

The final orc looks at the lot of you and trues to make its escape.
OOC:
@Everyone in melee range: You may make AOOs if you like.

Years of dirty fighting have taught Ronda to strike when the enemy is weakest. She lashes out at the fleeing orc with a right hook.

Oct 17, 2018 7:47 pm
Krigare rips his sword from the dying creature's chest releasing a torrent of blood. Kicking the husk that bore its life to the side he steps back, wipes his blade on the dead orc's tunic, and sheathes it muttering, "Let the speck go. It'll spread fear of what we have done and the enemies of these good people can have a turn at feeling dread for a change."
Oct 18, 2018 6:07 am
As Krigare turns his back on the scene, sheathing his fearsome blade, Tomas points out, "Well... looks like Herod had other ideas. Good ones too. We can ask this one some questions - when it wakes up. Still, wow, I had already seen Herod in action but the rest of you are truly worth every penny the Company has spent on you. Probably more.

He looks at the corpses of orcs strewn around the clearing.

"Wow. What strength," repeats the half-elf warrior, before focusing on the large half-orc lumberjack who was fighting off an entire squadron by himself, "Serpentskull! Are you okay? You're covered in blood, but... theirs? Maybe? It's hard to tell, honestly... Any of your men need healing? We have a man of Pelor here."

Remembering that this was a battlefield and some less skilled might have been caught up in the combat, Tomas looks around again, this time for those of the other workers, particularly any that have been severely wounded.

The final orc shrugs off Herod's blows, dodges Rolanda's fists and sprints off ino the forest.
OOC:
You may give chase if you like :)
Serpentskull looks at Tomas and you see the rage burn out of his eyes as he collapses to the ground. Whatever adrenaline thst had been sustaining him throughout the fight has obviously run its course. He is unconscious
OOC:
You may make a medicine check to check his condition if you like.
[ +- ] Spring to Tomas
You also remember the man struck by a javelin at the beginning of the fight. He is near the edge of the forest.
Oct 19, 2018 2:38 am
After making sure that Rousey is okay, Ronda goes to check the man struck down by the javelin. If he is still alive, she will call whoever seems to be tending to the wounded. Then she will retrieve her own javelin and then go through the orc leader's belongings.

@Ronda
OOC:
Please make a medicine and an investigation check.
Oct 19, 2018 5:06 am
Tomas has seen many wounds in the wake of raids or magical conflicts, but has not truly looked at them in-depth or ministered their bearers before. A first time for everything.

He bends down to check Serpentskull's condition, hands groping around the neck area as he's seen some healers do, his healing potion taken out preemptively. As he looks over the man, he calls out, "Faebis, you might want to check out the man who came to warn us, I'm looking after Serpentskull here for now - though you may need to come over here once you've checked that man out."

Rolls

Medicine Check - (1d20+1)

(19) + 1 = 20

OOC:
Im on my way to work and can't post until much later, so I'll lay out Krigare's actions so they can be fit in the proper order of events.
Krigare settles himself now that combat is over, returning his blade to its sheath. Hearing a call for healing, he turns and walks over to the wounded man in question. He takes one knee next to the man's shoulder and begins muttering a low prayer to the Red Lady.

This man fought well. He placed himself between evil and those they would harm. Moreover, his tactics and strategy, coupled with the group, allowed for the righteous to succeed this day. lady grant me the power to help him, now, as he helped others.

He lays his hand on the man's shoulder and a soft red light pulses between underneath as healing energy flows into him.
OOC:
If Rhonda calls for help for the man hit by the javelin, that's where Krigare will go. If no, he will assume the man is either stable or beyond his help and will tend to Serpentskull. In either case he will lay in hands for 5hp.

Herod lets the final orc go.

He walks to the rest of the group.

Definitely this is consequences of our stopping of their last raid. I am afraid that these foes will also be at our gates again. At least we took out their leader.

He looks at the leader, retrieves his spear, and looks at it curiously. May I carry this around? I think I could wield this effectively.
Oct 19, 2018 3:31 pm
Rinda, who has been going through the orc leader's things, lets Herod take the spear.

"It suits you. I don't care much for weapons, to be honest. I prefer these," Ronda says, showing off her muscular arms, "though you're pretty good with your fists, too. Mind teaching me a few of those sick combos?"

Herod blushes at the green woman. I would be glad to share my technique. Though it didn't help much in this fight.

He assesses his wounds, tying and bandaging his wounds. He will then go to Tomas.

Can you ask the lumberjacks if they can start sending the logs as soon as humanly possible? Priest, can you offer these folks some healing?
Oct 20, 2018 12:10 am
Tomas examines Serpentskull's body and determines that his wounds are more extreme than previously thought. He does not have long for this world.

Then you see a strange red aura surround Krigare's body as he prays to his goddess and kneels before Serpentskull. The energy concentrates into his hands and then rushes into Serpentskull, whose body convulses violently.
His eyes open and you see his blood red irises. He screams and you watch as his eyes gradually change to a normal, healthy white colour.
By the gods, that burns! he yells, but as you look over his body you can see that the worst of his wounds seem to have stopped bleeding.
Then he slowly gets to his feet and takes in his surroundings and the dead orc corpses surrounding him So I guess we won? Well fought strangers!
OOC:
@Ronda: I'm running out of time, so I'll get to your investigation results shortly.
Oct 20, 2018 12:51 pm
OOC:
@Herod. The leader of the orcs was wielding a javelin not a spear.
@Ronda. You don't find much on the orcs. In the leader you find a pouch containg 59 gold pieces and a wooden carving of Gruumsh. You have heard that some folk collect such things and it could be worth something.
The man you check on doesn't seem to be in danger of dying though he could probably do with some healing.

@Everyone: You all gain 450 experience points. 350 for defeating the orcs and a bonus 100 for keeping Serpentskull alive.

A few moments after your battle eight workers emerge from one of the buildings with huge axes in hand. They move together cautiously, but when they see the orc corpses littering the geound and no apparent threats they lower their guard an approach Serpentskull, who nods before saying
Well, half of my boys have disappeared. Probly halway ta Berda by now and unlikely ta stop until they get there. I'll have ta send a few of my boys ta round em up. Anyway, it'll probly take most of the day to send the lumber down ta town but my boys are pretty shook up. Might wanna check the forest ta see if there are anymore of these bastards. He kicks one of the orc corpses and spits on it.
OOC:
What you do from here is up to you. You could check the surrounding area for more orcs, head back to Berda, help Serpentskull move the lumber down the river or anything else you like.
What do you want to do?
Oct 20, 2018 8:26 pm
"You carry the blessings of a god too, then, Tomas remarks, surprised at Krigare's minor miracle, "A blessing for us too, fighting at your side."

Tomas nods slightly a couple times to punctuate the statement, and continues nodding along to what Serpentskull tells them.

"Honestly, your boys on the way to Berda probably have the right idea. Situation as it is, with the oncoming attack... better to have everyone in the surrounding area together at Berda. Easier to defend and we can put all our strong men and women and protections in one spot. Including yourself, Serpentskull. Now, this is just my thinking, my fellow warriors might have other ideas, but I think we ought to stay nearby, make sure the lumber and all your men are able to all get to Berda safely, then head back with the last load of lumber. If that is the plan, though, I think I'm better off helping move lumber than scouting the forest... I'm not really the quiet, woodsy type. Speaking of which, do you know if any of the hunting parties are nearby? We're trying to warn them and get their help too."

Tomas waits for Serpentskull's response and then looks to the others, to see what they say.
OOC:
So, is Sovelin gone too, then?
