"Oh you'd love to see me strip, wouldn't you?" Ronda chuckles. The half orc strips down to her smallclothes, exposing a multitude of scars crisscrossing her perfectly-toned body. She gives her pet mouse into Faebis' care. Curiously, she does not remove her brass bracers before wading into the water armed only with a small knife.

OOC:
@Ronda: I do indeed. Also, unfortunately our cleric Faebis has left us. I probably should have described his exit better.

@everyone: Just so I understand the situation clearly, Ronda and Herod are wading in to get the chest. Is everyone else staying on the beach?

@Everyone wading into the water: I need either Dexterity acrobatics checks or Strength athletics checks from you please.

The water is not too deep. Perhaps only three feet or so, so you can move through it at half-movement without any major difficulty.

Ronda and Herod make their way towards the chest when all of a sudden, the water begins to bubble around them as if it were boiling.

Suddenly, water spouts emerge from the ocean and form into two strange water creatures that immediately attack. Thick ropes of seaweed lash out, thrash at Herod and Ronda and try to pull them beneath the water. However, both Ronda and Herod are able to escape from their clutches.
OOC:

@Herod: take 10 points of bludgeoning damage.
@Ronda: take 20 points of bludgeoning damage.

Summary
Herod is engaging a water elemental
Ronda is engaging a water elemental.
Krigare and Tomas are unengaged.

Thank you for your patience everyone. I had to try five or six times to get that last post in. I hear the gamer's plane has been having some server issues. Anyway, we are all good now. Get your turn in when you get the chance :)

OOC:
@Ronda: So you get really angry at this thing that has attacked you. You feel your fury rising and you.... run away?

Did you just literally rage quit? lol

Seriously though. You'll provoke an AOO. Are you ok with that?

Herod doesn't heed his friend's counsel. Instead, he rushes in and attacks the one engaged with Ronda.

OOC:
The "rage" in this instance is desperation or rather fierce determination. She's been in enough fights to know when to make a "tactical withdrawal." Yes, she'll take the AoO. That might convince her running is a dumb idea. How far to the shore?
Nov 1, 2018 9:15 pm
Tomas rushes to the water's edge and begins to unstrap his shield, to prevent it from being cumbersome if he needs to get in the water.

"Herod! Ronda! Those, those are...!" he shouts aloud, with a pause as he tries to wonder why these odd creatures seem so familiar.
OOC:
Yeah, the site's been bonkers lately. Tomas will use his action to doff his shield

DM Arina: would Tomas's augmented stores of knowledge include water elementals or would he have to roll for it to see if he knows/can wrack his mind (if he doesn't ask Spring for some help).

Rolls

Initiative Roll - (1d20)

(2) = 2

@Ronda: It's not far to the shore. It's about 10 feet away and 15 feet will have you well out of the creature's melee range. That should put you safe. Well as long as they don't have any ranged attacks :)

@Tomas: make an arcana check.
Nov 2, 2018 3:48 am
"Water elementals! Normal attacks won't hurt 'em and they can only be in wate- Herod, NO!

Tomas tries to tell the rest of the party as much as he knows about this strange new enemy before seeing his ally fall to the ground.

OOC:
Just waiting on actions from Tomas and Krigare
Nov 2, 2018 10:10 am
Krigare hefts his blade and assesses the situation. Realizing the tactically correct move is to withdraw from the creature's natural habitat but unable to leave comrades behind, he sighs heavily and wades methodically into the water. His nightly blende glows read as he arcs it downward toward the creature attempting to harm the female Orc with whom he made a small bond earlier on his way to this troubled place.

Attack - (1d20+7)

Action was/is to doff shield. Placeholder is there for him to shout whatever info he got from his check to keep it chronological.

OOC:
@Tomas: gotcha.
Initiative order:
Water Elementals 20
Herod 19
Ronda 14
Krigare 7
Tomas 2
The first water elemental lashes out with its seaweed like tendrils and strikes Herod. One of the tendrils wraps around his neck and crushes his windpipe.
OOC:
@Herod: Take 26 points of bludgeoning damage.
The second strikes out at Ronda but she manages to deflect its blows with her bracers.

Then Ronda tries to make for the safety of the shore. The water elemental, takes advantage of her determined movement and lashes out against her again.
OOC:
@Ronda: You take 5 points of bludgeoning damage
Tomas doffs his shield and racks his brain trying to remember anything he can about the water elementals. .
[ +- ] Spring to Tomas
Krigare draws his unique fiery orange and red blade and charges at the elemental attacking Herod. His blade strikes true and the creature emits a strange sound and withdraws its tendrils.
OOC:
I have changed your turn slightly as you wejt after Ronda, so instead of helping her I had you help Herod instead. Let me know if this isn't what you intended.
OOC:
