Episode 2: The Bronze Age

Gyges follows Maenor, concentrating on a spell he intends to release should the second sentry reveal themselves.

The elf sentry before Reizei quickly realizes what's happening and manages to twist out of the way. The flail head strikes the ground with a silent thud, and not even a whoosh of air can be heard. The elf grins maliciously and he says something, only for the words to seemingly disappear.

Confused at the silence, the elf's expression turns into a snarl and he fires his crossbow from the hip at Reizei, before dropping the weapon to attempt to draw a blade. The bolt zips silently into the night sky, wildly missing the warlock (Disadvantage 9 vs Reizei AC 16).

The flail cracks solidly into the sentry with significant weight as the elf reels from the blow.

Maenor detects no movement and hears no sound coming from anywhere else.

Gyges holds his concentration on a spell for a bit longer, but gives his colleague a silent thumbs up to congratulate the kill.

The elf tries to shoo the motes of disorientation away, and he silently draws his shortsword to thrust for Reizei's gut. The blade slips past Reizei's shield and jabs into his side (21 vs AC 16, 4 piercing).

The sentry tries to yell something, and remembers he cannot. He starts to run, heading in the direction of the hunting blind.

Spinning like a top, Reizei brings his flail around to intercept the fleeing sentry. The weapon caves in the elf's face and drops him like a lumpy sack to the ground, unmoving.

In his immediate area, Gyges doesn't see any movement besides his companions. No sound carries over the air, not even Reizei's labored breathing within the area of Silence.

Crunching through the dry brush, Reizei follows Maenor until they reach a suitable position flanking the hunting blind.

Reizei hears nothing, but Maenor's keen senses manage to catch the faint sound of conversation. While he cannot make out what is being spoken, the voices carry from beyond the hunting blind, from the direction of the main camp, and are coming closer.
